Firstly, a warm welcome
back from the supplement
team.
An excellent start for the
boys saw them reach the
semi-finals on their first
tournament as a team. Only
3 boys have remained in
the squad from last year
due to our Year 6 squad
members from last year
moving on to secondary
school.
The first match started with
ferocity from both Sham-
blehurst and Wellstead.
Although Shamblehurst
dominated most of the
play, great defending from
Wellstead saw an opening
game 0-0 draw.
The second match against
Netley Abbey commenced
with a bang as Blake saw
his strike from close
range nestle in the roof
of the net. The boys saw
out the game and came
out 1-0 winners.
The final group game
was a tough encounter
against Durley who took
the lead against the run
of play with a smash and
grab goal. With poten-
tial elimination on the
cards, the boys raised their
performance and found an
equaliser through Bobby in
the dying seconds.
The league was tied and a
play-off versus Wellstead
was required. Bobby had
found his shooting boots
and won the play-off for
Shamblehurst by scoring a
wonderful solo goal.
The semi-final match was
against a strong Fair Oak
side who took control of
proceedings and won the
game 3-0. They also went
on to win the tournament.
A great effort from all the
boys involved and a brilliant
foundation on which to
build upon.
Year 5/6 football team tournament of the season.
This year, we decided to
enter a new age category
for football. A team was
picked after a very competi-
tive trial afternoon at school
and the boys went over to
Berrywood to compete
against other schools in the
Wildern cluster.
Many of the other squads
had been playing together
for a number of years
which made this tourna-
ment extremely competi-
tive. The boys didn’t let that
play on their minds as they
worked well as a team to
create excellent chances.
Ryan finally broke the goal
drought in the third game
against Berrywood with a
long range strike which nes-
tled in the bottom corner.
Hopefully the boys will contin-
ue to come training to build
on their skills and experiences
with cluster sport.

Jessica in 5LC has been tak-
ing part in some amazing
gymnastics. This sport takes
dedication, commitment and
a lot of perseverance. She
definitely has flexed quite a
lot of her learning muscles to
infor-
mation
about her
sport. She has 12 medals, 5
trophies and has competed
in over 45 competitions, cur-
rently she only competes in
the UK.

Jessica is in a club called Dy-
namo and is making more
and more progress as she
continues on her journey.
We had a talk with Jess and
she gave us lots of
through in a very defensive perfor-
mance. Unfortunately it wasn’t
meant to be as they lost the game
2-0.
Girls football is an ever-growing
sport which is now recognised at a
professional level in England.
The potential all the girls showed
in this tournament was very en-
couraging and was pleasure to be
a part of. We are looking forward
to working with the them in train-
ing on a Thursday night.
It’s onwards and upwards for the
girls!

DOWN WITH A SPLASH!
A twin partnership
have been taking up a
remarkable sport that
takes proglonged in-
terest and commit-
ment. Grace and
George have been
swimming for Eastleigh swim
club and they haveover 15
medals and 1 trophy be-
tween them. Recently
they competed in the
county squad for their
age group!
Grace came away with a
staggering 9 medals, includ-
ing 3 gold and six bronze.
A great start for the girls squad.
Most of the girls have played to-
gether either in school or out of
school.
The first game began with great
possession play from the girls,
keeping the ball for at least 3
minutes before St James got a
touch. Amy P put the girls 1-0 up
following this, and Amelia added a
second soon after.
During the next 3 games, Amy P,
Amelia and Layla all found the net
on numerous occasions. They
were in a great position going into
the crunch-match with Fair-Oak.

Recently, Owen compet-

competition in Belgium.
He won his first fight
against another contest-
ant from Belgium. He
unfortunately lost his
second fight to another
Belgian competitor. This
meant that he ended in
second place with a Sil-
ver medal! Excellent
work Owen!

To date he is the most successful Brit-
ish track athlete in modern Olympic
Games history, he is
the 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold med-
alist in both the 5000 m and 10,000 m.
He is the second athlete in modern
Olympic Games history, after Lasse
Virén, to successfully defend the
5000 m and 10,000 m titles. Farah also
completed the double at
the 2013 and 2015 World Champion-
ships in Athletics.
He was the second man in history to
win long-distance doubles at succes-
sive Olympics and World Champion-
ships, and the first in history to do the
quadruple-double.
It was an easy choice to choose Mo to
represent our Blue house. His persever-
ance, capitalisation and Independence
muscels have certainly been flexed!
A wonderful ambassador. Lets go
team Mo, lets go!
This year our new house point awards
have been introduced, but why have
we chosen Mo Farah, Jason Kenny,
Jade Jones and Nicola Adams I hear
you ask? Well, in each supplement
issue we will look in depth at each
athletes struggles, achievements and
values…. But first we start with the king
of long distance himself, Mr. Mo
Farah.
Children across the school have been
working hard and flexing their learn-
ing muscles to collect house point to-
kens for their house and house Farah
team members are leading the way
with an astounding amount of house
points this half term!
Farah was born on 23rd March 1983
in Mogadishu, Somalia. His full name is
Mohamed Muktar Jama Farah. He
spent the early years of his childhood
in Djibouti with his twin brother. He
moved to Britain at the age of eight to
join his father, speaking barely a word
of English .

This years cross-country event
was very popular with our pupils
due to the Rio run which we in-
troduced last year.
Competitors from year 5 and 6
took to the field to compete
against runners from our cluster
schools.
Year 5 Girls were first up and ran
a terrific race with Grace finishing
7th, Sophie 12th, Jessica 18th
and Tamana 40th. The girls fin-
ished 4th overall.
The year 5 boys were up next
and also ran at a terrific pace,
flexing their perseverance mus-
cles.
Ethan came 10th, Dillon 16th,
Henry 20th, George G 21st, Na-
than 31st, George V 32nd, Ryan
51st and Blake 52nd. The team
finished 3rd overall.
The year 6 girls then took to the
field to compete in their event.
The race got off to a blistering
pace with Layla setting a tough
pace for the rest of the pack to
follow.
Jess finished in 6th meaning she
has qualified for the district team.
A great achievement.
Amy came 15th, Kiera 22nd, Pheo-
be 29th and Layla 32nd. The team
came 1st place overall, an excel-
lent team effort.
The year 6 boys were up last and
saw Bobby storm to victory finish-
ing 1st and also qualifying for the
district team. Well done Bobby!
Thomas finished a gallant 13th,
Jack 25th, Ben 27th, Zak 28th, and
Toby 40th. The team finished 2nd
overall.
A great evening was had by all
the children. Some achieving per-
sonal bests and others proud of
themselves for completing the
arduous course.
A huge congratulations from eve-
ryone at Shamblehurst to Bobby

trict squad.

On Tuesday the 18th October a cluster of schools arrived at Hamble Sports College to take
part in a Cross Country Competition.
Shamblehurst competed against five other local schools including Berrywood, Wellstead,
Fair Oak, Botley, Freegrounds and Kings Copse. We did incredibly well and we spoke to a
few competitors about how they felt.
‘At first I was scared, and then as I got closer and closer to the end and I realised I was
going to do well and I felt happy!’ Said an elated Charis after her 3rd
place triumph.
All the children did very well. Jayden and Harry took 2nd
and 3rd
places in the year 3 boys’
race. Max K took a tumble at the start but still finished in 6th. Thomas, Oliver, James and
Max L all placed well in a really tough first race. The boys finished 1st overall as a team!
Anna finished a close 4th behind Charis in the year 3 girls’ race with an exhausted Georgia
not far behind.
The year 4 boys had a tough category with all runners being very strong. Taylor finished
9th with Owen, TJ, Ralfs and Rick all finishing strong behind him.
Finally, the year 4 girls took to the field. Maria led the way finishing 6th
with Annabel hot on
her tail in 7th. Abigail, 18th and Eva 30th finished well in a very close race.
