This week’s theme is TAKING FLIGHT!This power point is divided up into the different subjects and the resources you
will need.

English –Taking Flight
Day 1: Click on the picture and it will take you to a clip of the story. Put the volume up and listen
carefully.Write down how Tony is feeling at key points in the
film. Pick 3 different points to write about.
EnglishDay 2: Create Tony’s monologue (a long speech by
Tony (the actor) in the film),taking place ion the car on the way to Grandpa’s house
whilst Dad is talking toGrandpa then the mood changes.
When writing his long speech pay attention to how Tony is feeling.What might he be thinking. There are clues in the film.
Example: So here we are again! Dad promised me that today we
would spend the day together and instead work get’s in the way! I have to go to
Grandpa! He is no fun! Dad always makes promises that he can’t keep!

Day 3: Describe one of the adventures.
Pick one of the adventures from the film that Tony encounters and
Describe the adventure. Start your line with:“I was travelling in the Radio- Flyer; when…”
Use the picture clues of the adventures to remind you.
EnglishDay 4: Describe the Alien they could have seen and create a dialogue between the
Alien, Tony and Grandpa.
Remember the rules for inverted commas – use the poster to help you.

Under google have a search of the different nursery rhymes about aeroplanes and flying to give you inspiration to write your own.
HistoryLooking at the History of Flight Power point, pick one
and create a fact file on one of them for example,Hot Air Balloon. You may need to look up further
research to add to your fact file.
Use the fact file template to help you create your own.
Life SkillsCurrently with COVID-19 happening, what has happened to the travel industry and flying?
Write a Newspaper Report to tell the world what has happened.Example: British Airways staff have lost their jobs.
Virgin Atlantic has lost their spot at Gatwick to fly from there.
