Review of passport requirements

Your passport must be current at all times from the first day of class until graduation

A current passport is crucial during rotations, in part to fulfill our contractual

obligations with clinical sites

Students are responsible to upload the dates and ANY required documentation into

E*Value for all required passport items

Staff at the Spokane and Vancouver campuses verify that information uploaded by

students meets requirements, and assist students as needed

Using the Mapping Tool to Identify Clinical Sites to Request

When you get to the home page, enter your home address in the ‘My starting Point Field’. Select the radius from your home that you want to search within

The mapping tool can be found at: http://nur-data.spokane.wsu.edu/clinicalplacementagencies/Locator

In 'Patient Care Focus contains' field, enter a key word to help you locate sites specific to your rotation need. For example:

PMHNP students taking NURS541 will need fall placement in a mental health setting that provides individual counseling. Entering 'mental' in this field will pull in all sites within the radius you chose that offer mental health services. From there, you can see a list of which mental health services they offer.

FNP students taking NURS567 will need placement in a family practice setting. Entering 'family' into this field will pull in all sites with the filters you chose that offer family practice services.

Clicking 'filter sites' will then show you results based on the filters you chose. They will show in a list, and will also show on the map. Hovering your cursor over each one on the map will pop up information about individual sites.

Submitting Site Rotation Requests in E*Value The placement process begins with your clinical placement coordinator sending you a site

rotation request form 3-6 months in advance of each clinical semester

A notification will come to you via your WSU email, saying that you are scheduled to complete an evaluation for the activity ‘rotation requests’

Clicking on the link in the email will open the form in E*Value for you to complete and submit your site requests

Completing the Rotation Site Request Form (Cont.)

It is recommended that you make at least 3-5 site requests for each rotation you will need. A separate rotation request form must be completed for each semester. Term: Select the term that the rotation requests are for, not the semester in which you are

submitting the requests. Course/rotation/hours: There are multiple options for required course rotations.

Carefully select the option that best fits your request. Site: Write in the site name after first checking E*Value to be certain the name is correct.

It is important to be sure you are requesting the site you intend to. Preceptor: Leave blank unless there is a specific preceptor you would like to request. Request priority: When requesting multiple sites for a specific rotation, rank your

requests in the order of your preference.

Completing the Rotation Site Request Form (Cont.)

Notes: Enter any information that may improve your placement opportunities (i.e. you are an employee of the organization, you are a patient at the clinic, you have already discussed a rotation with the preceptor and received a verbal ok, etc.) If you have requested a site that is not in E*Value, you can specify the location/address in the notes field.

Clicking ‘Save For Later’ will allow you to complete the form at a later time before submitting. Clicking ‘Submit’ will submit your requests to your clinical placement coordinator, who will

then begin working on your requests. Clinical placement coordinators will NOT receive your rotation requests until you click ‘submit’.

If all of your initial requests have been pursued and no placement has been found, your placement coordinator will send the form back to you to submit more requests.

The Rotation Request Form is the First in a Series of Steps of the Placement Process

Your placement coordinator will be actively working to find placement for you, and will keep in contact with you regarding the status of your site requests.

When all placements have been secured for you, you will receive a site confirmation form listing all of your placements, along with placement details. The form will come to you via email, and indicate an evaluation needs to be completed.

To complete this form, you will need to submit your actual rotation schedule dates for each of your rotations.

Submitting your rotation dates is necessary to properly set the EValue system up for your rotation, and is required before starting your rotation/s.

These steps will be covered in more detail in Training 2 which should be viewed in the summer semester of your first year.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Training 3, Year 1 Semester 3 (summer) will again review how to update your E*Value profile and passport items. It will cover clinical site placement and confirmation as well as onboarding and credentialing processes at clinical sites. Content will include how to submit rotation schedule dates.

This training will also cover required E*Value documentation for your clinical experiences, including time tracking, PxDx (procedures and diagnoses) and evaluations, and will provide guidance regarding communications with your clinical faculty
