Did you ever wonder how other centers organized their block area, incorporated early learning standards into documentation, or displayed child work? Join us for YAAEYC’s Second Annual Networking Night tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 28, 2010 to find out. Networking Night is a wonderful time to get to know other child care teachers and visit their cen‐ters. This year, beginning at 6:30 PM, we are scheduled to visit brand new facilities at the YWCA of York and Cris‐pus Attucks in downtown York. We will also visit one other center. At each center, you can talk to staff, tour the facility, and get ideas. We will have appetizers at one center, a “main course” at the next and dessert at the final location. This event is free to YAAEYC members and $10 for non‐members. Look for more details during Week of the Young Child events and we hope to see you there!

Library Update An Early Learning Forum, for providers and other early childhood people, will be held Wednesday April 14, 2010 from 9 am until 3 pm at the Harrisburg Hilton and it includes lunch and a national speaker, Dr. Jill Stamm. It is free! That is during the WOYC. We will also be announcing the 2010 “One Book, Every Young Child” – What a Treasure! By Jane and Will Hillenbrand. Mr. Hillenbrand will sign books that are purchased that day.
Will Hillenbrand will be visiting two childcare centers and a kinder‐garten class in Hanover on Thursday, April 15 between 9 am and 1 pm. He will also visit Martin Library at 4 pm Thursday afternoon.
We all already know early childhood education is key. But do the people who fund our programs know? That
is the goal of Early Childhood Action Day on June 8th, 2010. This annual event aims to bring early childhood
supporters from across the state together to meet, educate and thank legislatures for their support of ECE
programs. They day kicks off with registration. Here you can grab a coffee and some information about your
legislatures, key topics and talking points. You can even attend training on advocacy. From there you will
walk to the capitol building where you can meet with your legislators to discuss the importance of ECE fund‐
ing. At 1:00pm there will be a rally on the capitol steps calling all to raise awareness of critical programs. This
year, there will be an evening banquet to recognize excellence in the field. If you recognize the importance of
great programs such as Keystone Stars, Pre‐K Counts, Head Start, Child Care Works and TEACH, we hope to
see you there. If you have any questions, please contact Sara Bosley, Public Policy Chair, at
