Technical Description Range of Application and Components GEA MultiSafe

In cases where contaminant-free environment is top priority - GEA MultiSafe ensures systematic protection against viruses, bacteria, radioactive and toxic substances. The MultiSafe stands for a filter system with a convincing safety offered byGEA Delbag Air Filters.

GEA Delbag MultiSafe filter units meet the following requirements:– Designed for application areas with most stringent safety standards– The system is equipped with a gastight and torsion resistant casing– Leak tightness class B in conformity with DIN EN13779:2002– Safe in operation and maintenance-free clamping device– Airtight fit of filters is checked continuously during operation– Contamination-free filter replacement– Unit surface can be decontaminated– Made of powder-coated steel (RAL 9010) or stainless steel variant– Selection of wide-range filter assortment– Unit design in Ex protection is optional– Possible operating pressure up to 6000 Pa

MultiSafe is specially developed for applications in genetic engineering, clean room and nanotechnology as well as in nuclear engineering. The required filtration efficiency is maintained by the filter system and safety is ensured by using appropriate testing devices. Highest standards in protection are put into practice for people andenvironment.

Components

Casing

Casing of the GEA Delbag MultiSafe filter system is made of metal sheet and welded using gastight method. Tightness check is performed using Nekal test method at 2000 Pa. If optional connectors on crude and clean air side are ordered - these are bolted with the filter casing in a gastight way. Each insertion opening is gastight sealed using a removeable steel service panel with four easy-to-use screw locks. The folded protective bag is located in the hollow space of the insertion opening. The systemcasing and connectors can be optionally manufactured in stainless steel.

Clamping device

The filter elements are tightly secured by a centrally accessed, self-tightening clamping device. The run-around clamping frame presses the filter element evenly against all four sides of the casing sealing surface. In such a way tilting can be prevented.

The clamping device can be operated without opening the service panel. Thus it ispossible to avoid unnecessary workload and a risk of damaging the protective bag while using the clamping device.

The service frame edges, on which the run-around rubber sealing ring is mounted, and the front section of the casing are cast together in one piece. Therefore it is possible to meet the requirement for a gastight casing in a consistent way. The rubber sealing ring for fixation of the protective bag is fitted with two deep grooves, which are used for inserting the clamping ring in the protective bag. In order to make filter replacement easier - the clamping rings are equipped with a good-grip tear handles.

Test grooves

One of the special features of the unit includes a possibility to use a test groove forperforming an on-demand check of airtight fit of the filter elements while the unit is in operation (testing device as of DIN 1946-4).

The test groove on the filter frame is replaced when new filters are inserted so that a risk of embrittlement is excluded.

By measuring the leakage rate through the GEA Delbag testing gauges, tight fit of the filter elements is checked and, if necessary, corrected by using the clamping device. The measurement tubes for test grooves are standard equipment of the MultiSafe. The GEA Delbag Air Filters offer a wide range of optional differential pressure measuring instruments.

Corrosion resistance

High quality in processing surface finish meets most stringent requirements inthe respective application areas of this filter system. All casing models are standard made of powder coated steel (RAL 9010) or stainless steel. All casing models can be decontaminated.

Optionally, units can have special decontamination coating with epoxyenamel paint finish.

Sample filter

GEA MultiSafe system can be combined of multiple filter units with a double-deck arrangement for an individual application on site.

A GEA MultiSafe system can comprise up to 8 units in width and an indefinite number of units in depth. The total nominal air volume flow is simply made up of relevantnominal air volume flows of individual unit types.

Unit types:up to 8 units are possible in

width; indefinite amount ofunits is possible in depth;

which means e.g.:1/5: one unit in width and five

units in depth.
