Did you know that the Corona-Norco Family YMCA is helping children and families weather the

economic storm? Every day we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone,

regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. The Y now

operates 9 program sites with a continuum of care for children in the Corona-Norco and Jurupa Valley

Unified School Districts ages 6 weeks to high school. We are always looking for support from our

community. If you would like more information of how you can help, please contact Lorena Gomez

(951) 736-1415 or [email protected] The Corona-Norco Family YMCA is a 501(c) (3) charitable

organization classified by the Internal Revenue Service.

Thank you for your continued support of YOUR YMCA!

School Age - We will be celebrating the Thanksgiving Holiday by kicking off

our Canned Food Drive. We are off to a great start and are hoping to reach

our goal. This is a great opportunity for the kids to be a part of something

big for the community and for our class here at the Main “Y”. They will know

the importance at being able to give to other, especially during the holidays.

House.

Full Time State Preschool - In our class this week we will be finishing the week of fall foods by making

our Healthy Turkey food activity with veggies. Next week we will be working on fall clothing. We will

explain to the children the weather change and why we have to dress warm. We will be lacing mittens

and dressing up our kittens with winter clothing. On Friday we will be having “A wear your favorite fall

clothing day”

Part time Preschool - Last week in State 3 we introduced the theme of fall. We discussed fall colors

and what happens during the fall season. On Friday we had Pajama Day and the children brought their

blankets and did a little workout. This week as we continue with the fall theme the children have the

opportunity to explore leaves, pine cones and learn more about fall. As for the rest of the week we are

focusing on the letters Y, O, K the color orange and the shape is a pentagon. The children are counting 1

-7 and will have the chance to experiment with milk painting. We are focusing on learning about fruits

and vegetables as well as physical activity. We will be ending the week with Cooking Day. On Friday the

children will be making their own Apple Pie in a cup. Next week we will begin learning about

Thanksgiving Day as the holiday approaches. We will be closed November 26 and November 27 for

Volcano in the world, if they are dangerous for people who live close to the area, and how Volcanoes are

formed. Also the children will make a paper Mache Volcano, and sand experiment. For Literacy we will

draw their own story about Volcanoes. We will be closed November 26 and November 27 for the

week we had a guest speaker to talk about buildings. Mr. Todd Handley, Marley and

Mattias’s dad from Ms. Boushas class is a construction worker. He came and talked to

the children about what types of buildings he works on and the children were able to

ask him questions about buildings as well. This week, Ms. Bousha’s class will be

looking at the tools that are used to make buildings. They will be using the tools to build houses in the

block center. In the dramatic play area, they can dress up as construction workers. Ms. Marisa’s class will

be looking at who builds buildings. They will be making houses out of various things such as boxes, sticks
