The platinum catalyst breaks down ethylene gas and odor components to generate even more carbon dioxide.

The airtight structure maintains a higher concentration of carbon dioxide than in the air. As a result, the vegetables release less of their nutrients and water and so retain their freshness.

Excess moisture inside the vegetable compartment collects at the aluminum panel and the condensation is absorbed by the transpiration board.

Optimum storage conditions keep vegetables fresh!Vegetables continue to respire after being harvested but lowering the surrounding temperature and increasing the concentration of carbon dioxide slows down this respiration. These conditions help prevent vegetables from losing their freshness.

As a result of joint research by Hokkaido University and Hitachi, a platinum catalyst is now used for the first time in a home refrigerator. Even at low temperatures, the catalyst increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the Aero-care Vege Compartment.
