Sporting Schools Program Gymnastics continues each Thursday culminating in a visit to Eden Area Gym Pambula on Thursday 27th June. Parent transport will be required. Athletics Carnival With our Small Schools Athletic Carnival coming up in Week 9, this term we will be practicing athletic skills over the coming weeks. If anyone has any expertise or skill, particularly in field events, or knows of someone who could assist with developing student’s skills, please con-tact the school as soon as possible. Student Absences Unexplained Student absences come home today. I remind parents that a note must accompany a student absence as soon as possible after the absence, or if possi-ble prior to the time away in the event of holiday or ap-pointment. You may also contact the office to advise Alan the expla-nation either in person, by phone or email. We are una-ble to accept explanations from students, and Teachers may forget to pass verbal explanations to the office. Parent Transport Required We frequently seek the support of parents, particularly to transport children to extra activities and events—and Week 9 will be a prime example. Wednesday 26 June: 4 Stage 2 students need to

get to and from Bournda Environmental Education Centre.

Thursday 27 June: All students need to transport to and from Eden area Gym.

Friday 28 June: Stage 2 & 3 students attend the Small Schools Athletics Carnival at Wolumla.

If parents could coordinate themselves to share the load it would be greatly appreciated. Please note that a bus for a whole school event in Pambula costs approximately $15 per child return. SAKG Program Every student looks forward to the activities encouraged by the Stephanie Alexander program. If you would like to join us in coming weeks please let us know. We meet every second Thursday from 12:00 till 1:30pm. Thank You, Heather Bell—Relieving Principal

Class 3-6 News In the classroom the last couple of weeks we have been focusing on writing. We have been using images to promote discussion and then create ‘I wonder…” statements. These statements led the students to re-spond to the image with a piece of writing using a text type of their choice, for exam-ple, persuasive writing in the form of a letter. Students were also very enthusiastic to compose a piece of writing to share some of the information they learnt from the Zoomobile and Bournda visit. Students are enjoying the music/drama program being provided by Ms Rogers on Wednesdays. The program includes explor-ing music for the whole class through an UpBeat program, guitar and recorder les-sons for those interested students, percus-sion, drama and a whole school choir. Class K-1-2 News All students in the K-2 class have been keep-ing busy the last few weeks. As part of our Writing Procedure unit we made grass heads last week. We will be re-cording the changes that we witness. In the coming weeks, we will be focusing on information pieces (on animals, autobiog-raphies, biographies and made up newspa-per articles). The Kindergarten students are continuing to consolidate the sounds the letters make and words that start with those sounds. Kinder-garten students are including known words in their writing. In Spelling, we are focusing on the sounds ‘u’ as in umbrella (Week 6), ‘h’ as in house and ‘j’ as in jellyfish (Week 7), ‘ai’ and ‘ay’ as in snail and hay (Week 8). In Maths, we are focusing on subtraction (Week 6), time (Week 7) and patterns and mass (Week 8). Mr Reeve.
