‘Urban Sprawl’

This set of sketches use the distance away from the center point of square as the parameter to generate random points with gradually changed density and based on these points Veronoi patterns are formed and extruded. The height of extrusion is also linear to the distance

‘Atomic Collision‘

This set of sketches use the distance between the center point and a group of random points within a globe as the parameter. The futher ‘atom‘ will be larger and exploded greater.

‘Live Shutter‘

This set of sketches use a point beside as the attractor to contro the rotation angle and scale facter of each shutter leaf

WEEK1 - ATTRACTOR

5

6

WEEK2 - MULTIARRACTOR

‘Net’

This set of sketches use multiple point charges to create an undulating surface and the thinckness of pipes varies according to the height of the certain point

‘Attracting Feather‘

This set of sketches use multiple point attractors to extrude hexagonal modules on a sphere to different directions. The last one reverses data, creating a twin effect

‘Parametric Hypostyle‘

This set of sketches use multiple attractor and cosine curve to create loft surfaces and use morph to allocate different types of columns.

7

8

WEEK3 - CURVED PANELS

‘Sleeve’

This set of sketches use loft of curves which are incrementally arranged along a curved surface. The number of panels and the size can be adjusted.

‘Wave’

This set of sketches use Bezier curves on two opposite directions to create a continuous waving effect

‘Scales‘

This set of sketches use series of numbers of create gradual change of height and size of each ‘scales‘

9

10

WEEK4 -DATA REMAP

‘Terrain’

This set of sketches use image sampler to remap tessellation cells and project controllable patterns to the loft surface which is also based on image sampler data

‘Portrait’

This set of sketches use image sampler and data weaving to depict a photo with symbols

‘Structure‘

This set of sketches use LunchBox to map a surface and use reconnecting nodes to create dynamic structures

11

12

KANGAROO & OTHER CASE STUDIES

‘Live Mathematics’

This set of sketches use the Spring function in Kangaroo to simulate the membrane effect.

‘Mountains’

This set of sketches use Kangaroo to simulate the physical stretching effect to create the mesh of mountains

‘Jellyfish‘

This set of sketches use attractors to create a biomimic effect.

13

14

EXTRA EXERCISES

‘Dunes’

This set of sketches use Fields to create vectors interacting with each other, simulating the formation of natural dunes.

‘Life Tree’

This set of sketches Lunch Box for hexagon paneling and Python Script to randomly twist the geometries, creating a geometrical and dynamic structure.

‘Iterative Panels‘

This set of sketches use loops to generate iterative subdivision.
