A Note to the Reader
This fictitious Comprehension-based reader™ is based on just 98 unique words in Spanish. The text contains high-frequency words/phrases and numerous cognates (words that are similar in two languages), making it an ideal read for beginning language students.
All vocabulary used to tell the story is listed in the glos-sary at the back of the book. Keep in mind that many verbs are listed in the glossary more than once, as most appear throughout the book in various forms and tenses. (Ex.: to go, I go, he goes, he went, let’s go, etc.) Vocabulary that would be considered beyond a ‘novice-low’ level is footnoted within the text, with meanings given at the bottom of the page where the expression first occurs.
This story depicts the life of a young boy growing up in Cairo, Egypt. Although the story itself is fictitious, it is based on and inspired by the main character. Thank you, Samir, for sharing your unique experiences and allowing us to create a story out of them.
This reader is intended for educational entertainment only. We hope you like the story and enjoy reading your way to FLUENCY!
