Be direct, straightforward, to the point. Be accuratechoose words carefully. Use proper grammar and punctuation. (“Dear Jack,
…” example) Omit needless words. Keep writing simple. (1+1 example) Make writing lively. (Brainiac exercise) Break style rulesbut only for really good reasons.

Commitment to Excellence
Those “who are committed to excellence in [writing] share a common end: a style that communicates effectively, even elegantly when elegance is appropriate.” (Williams) BTW, is “elegance” appropriate in technical writing?
