When you have done a piece of writing, use

thislist to check your

work.

Capital letters Have you used capital letters for:beginning sentencesnames (e.g. place names, names of people, names of companies)

placesdays, months 

Punctuation Have you:used a full stop at the end of

sentences?used question marks at the end of questions?used speech marks before and

after words actually spoken?begun speech with a capital letter?

Vocabulary Have you:used some interesting adjectives?used any similes?used different words to begin

sentences?used some synonyms for ‘said’

(e.g. shouted, whispered, mumbled) ?used connectives like because, but,

so, however in the middle of sentences?
