The Process Approach to

Writing. Stage one is prewriting.

The stage need you to consider yourreader.

We need to know who is our audience andwhat is the purpose of writing.

Preparation before writing:

I. Read the question carefully.

II. Brainstorm

III. Gatherinformation

Drafting

Drafting is writer-centered. It is you tellingyourself what you know and think about thetopic.

Thisis the second processin writing and themost important step to do.

Prepare an outline.An outline including

introduction,body and conclusion. Organize according to topic

sentence,supporting ideas or examples.

We must put ideasinto sentences and

paragraphs.

Explain and support ideas.

While drafting,use cohesive deviceslike

connectors for examples and,or,due to.

Draft assimple as you can.

Prepare anoutline.

Your writing should consists of three parts:

I. The introduction.

II. The body(supporting paragraphs)III. Conclusions.

Outline is the way that you canmanage to

do a good sequence on your writing.

The first paragraph introduces the topic.

Make sure yourintroductionis brief.

It can be a definition or an explanations of thetopic or title based on the question.

Opening sentences to capture the interest of

the reader. Thesisstatement(mainidea that will be

developed in the essay)

The body

Thisis the important part of your writing.

It consists of topic sentences which are themain points of each paragraph and specific or

supporting details to support the main points.

In this part,you have to elaborate all the mainpointsso that the readers can understand of

what they are read.

Sum up your

discussion. stress the thesis

statement.

Editing

Check on your grammar,punctuation and

spelling.

Make sure yourlanguage are right. Clarify connections betweensentences and

paragraphs,and between paragraphs.

Remembernot to edit until you havecompleted the earlierstages.

The dos:

I. Spend about 5 minutesreading the question

and prepare your answer.II. Write in your own words what the question

is all about.

III. Focus on the key information orimportanttrends.

IV. Read through what you have written.

Dont start writing immediately.

Do not copy the question or the

instruction. Dnot repeat all the same words

over and over again.

Do not spend so much time onprewriting and brainstorming.
