At most schools, learning stops at the end of a textbook —at Tempe Elementary’s newest school, it’s just the beginning

In August 2008, a new school is coming to Tempe – a school that takes learning far beyond traditional teaching methods and into the reality of our technology-

driven 21st century.

Envision a school where students learn through relevant, hands-on activities. Instead of just reading about Mars they can take a virtual trip there. Students won’t just wonder what life is like in China – they’ll e-mail Chinese students and ask them.

Envision a classroom where the answers to a student’s toughest questions are always just a few mouse clicks away. If an answer cannot be found in the textbook, the teacher will challenge his students to see who can find the answer first on their laptop computers.

Envision a school where critical thinking and the joy of discovery drive learning. Not only will students know the who, what, when, and where of the Civil War, they’ll understand the why, how and what does this have to do with me, too.

Now, envision your child at this “school of the future,” where problem solving, decision making and effective communication skills are reinforced throughout the year.

Envision your child at the brand new Scales elementary school on 5th Street: a state-of-the-art educational facility featuring a whole new way of learning. Enrollment starts January 2008.
