OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF TEXANS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT EBOLA OUTBREAK TO:  INTERESTED PARTIES FROM:  CHRIS PERKINS AND LAUREN LUXENBURG SUBJECT:  TEXANS CONCERNED ABOUT THE EBOLA OUTBREAK DATE: OCTOBER 14, 2014 The Ebola virus claimed its first life in the United States, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell admits that there may be other potential cases of Ebola around the country. Americans are worried, especially in Texas, the epicenter of the outbreak. A recent WPA Opinion Research statewide survey conducted in Texas, shows that an overwhelming majority of Texans are concer ned about the Ebola virus outbreak. In addition, a majority of Texas voters believe that the Obama Administration has not done enough to keep Americans safe from the virus outbreak in comparison to those that believe he has done enough. Texans’ Concerns about the Ebola Outbreak Level of Concern Percent Concerned 74 Not Concerned 24 DK/Unsure/Refused 3  Nearly three quarters of likely voters in Texas are either very or somewhat concerned about the Ebola outbreak. o Forty percent are very concerned about the Ebola outbreak. Lack of Faith in Obama dministration’s Response to the Ebola Outbreak    As you may know The Center for Diseases Contr ol and Prevention confirmed that the first case of Ebola has appeared in the United States. A man who flew into Dallas from Liberia has tested positive for the virus. Based on what you know today, would you say that President Obama and the federal government went above and beyond, put some effort, has done close to nothing, or has done nothing to keep Americans safe from the Ebola virus?   Forty seven percent of Texas likely voters believe the Obama Administration and the federal government has done either close to nothing or nothing to keep Americans safe from the Ebola virus.
