From the Pastor It has been awhile since all have been to-gether in worship. But things are changing. We are seeing businesses starting to open and on May 17 we will open for worship. I am looking forward to having people sitting in the pew chairs when I preach. I am looking for-ward to your smiling faces. I hope you will be with us on May 17. Let me share what is happening on that day. We will have two worship times - one at 9:00 a.m. & one at 10:55 a.m. They will be identi-cal in music and message. When we come, we have to still take precautions. This will be a no touch area. We will not have a fellow-ship time. Every other row of chairs will be

marked off and we need to leave three chairs between every family. Your family can sit together. We are going to ask you to let the ushers seat you this first week so we can see how its going to work. I know this is totally different but be patient as we try to follow the guidelines of our city. There will be no other activities until further notice. If you are struggling or have some needs, please let us know. We look forward to see-ing you May 17.

Sunday is Mother’s Day. Since I will not see you except online, let me wish each mother a spe-cial blessing for Mother’s Day. You are a blessing to your family and to your church. God Bless you. —Bro. Doug

Ministry Outside Sundays

Zach Foley Minister of Outreach & Mobilization

4.6 billion - that’s the number of people living in a country with restricted access to missionaries, meaning to gain access to the country you have to offer a specific skill set that their country could benefit from. 55,000 - that’s the number of people who die DAILY within those countries, who have likely never heard the name of Jesus. 3 mil-lion - that’s the number of churches needed in those countries to spread the gospel. Hearing all of this, you have to wonder, why did God allow us to live in the country we live in? Why did God allow us to get the specific skill sets through education, training, etc.? Is it really so we could have our best life now and so we could enjoy the comforts of this world because we’ve “earned it”? What if your gifting, training, and skills were given to you for the glory of God (Romans 12:1)? The realities of the world we live in and the truth of the gospel forces us to ask the painstaking question: what am I using all of the things God has given me for?

We are assisting this ministry by feeding for three Fridays in May - May 8, 15 and 22. A generous donation has allowed us to be able to cover almost all of our needs to take care of the number being fed. If you have any further questions, please con-tact Holly Wells at 580-695-2595. Thank you to everyone who helped in the month of April and during the upcoming days in May!

BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL!! Psalm 103:1 says, “ Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name!” When we sing, we engage our mind, will, and emo-tions. ‘All that is within us’ is involved. The natural result is that our emo-tions and spirit can be lifted (if we’re singing uplifting music) or discour-aged-it depends so much on the content of our song. At a time when our hearts might be discouraged or stressed due to these unusual circum-stances, let me encourage you to intentionally take the time to sing songs of praise to the Lord. You just might find your heart soaring with joy as you glorify God. Give it a try-you’ll be glad you did!

Ways To Reach Out to People During This Time While the pandemic has halted activities at church, it has not halted the church. There are still ways God can use you to make a difference for the Kingdom of God! Here are a few sugges-tions you might consider:

Continue to be on the lookout for people moving in and out of your neighborhoods.

Invite people to watch our live stream of the services and if they feel comfortable to at-tend one of our two services beginning May 17.

Start talking to people when walking in the neighborhood (use social distancing!) or when you go out to pick up food or run other errands.

Make a video of your personal testimony and share it on social media with a message of how to contact you or contact our church office.

Put together a care package of some kind (cookies, etc.) and pass out to 10 or 12 of your neighbors with a note on how they can watch our services.

Consider starting your own Bible study using Zoom with people that do not attend!

When will

Connection Hour

Resume? The easy answer is we do not know! We will do it when it is safe to meet in groups (probably without social distancing) and when we believe it is safe for everyone to be togeth-er. Like everything else we want you to feel com-fortable and safe!

Mother’s Day Offering Traditionally during this time we usually receive the Moth-er’s Day Offering for Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children and Baptist Village Communities (senior adult care). For 2020, this offering has been postponed, but if you want to give during the month of May, you can still do so by desig-nating your gift “Mother’s Day Offering.” These two organizations are extensions of your ministry to your local community and across Oklahoma. These minis-tries touch thousands of lives in the name of Christ and provide help in ways that could be difficult, if not impossible, for a single church to provide.

At the current time no weekly activities are being held. Watch for when some of our ministries may resume. Worship begins May 17!

NEW DATE! July 27-31

9 a.m.-12 noon Your help is needed!

With the change of our dates, some of our volunteers that had been enlisted cannot serve. If you were not available in June, but could volunteer on this new date, we need you! Contact Trey, Linda or Kevin if you would like to help in the outreach event of the year for our church! The faculty meeting will be at a date to be determined. If you have not picked up your literature, you can drop by the church office and do so.
