Welcome
Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God.
The King’s Brass Tim Zimmerman, director
To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.
Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An Elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.
Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available outside of St. Andrew’s Hall. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.
Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms before the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.
Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (room 109) located in the wing behind the sanctuary and to the left, and the Geneva Room is designated as a Cry Room for parents with fussy children, equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.
Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.
As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

The Meditation—It Is Well ........................................................... arr. Phillip Keveren
Theme: Salvation
The Prelude—Arioso ...................................................................................... J.S. Bach
†The Call to Worship ..............................................................................from Psalm 67May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on usso that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May the peoples praise you O God; may all the peoples praise you.May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.
The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!
When peace like a river attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows roll;Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,“It is well, it is well with my soul!”
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,Let this blest assurance control, That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate,And hath shed his own blood for my soul!
Charles Smith, baritone horn

The ResponseThe grass withers and the flowers fall,But the Word of our God stands forever.
The New Testament Lesson ............................................................................Isaiah 49:1-7page 1138 in the pew Bible
The Response—Man of Sorrows! What a Name ...........Hallelujah! What A Savior!(Sung by all)Man of Sorrows! what a nameFor the Son of God, who cameRuined sinners to reclaim:Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Guilty, vile, and helpless, we;Spotless Lamb of God was he;Full atonement! can it be?Hallelujah! what a Savior!
When he comes, our glorious King,All his ransomed home to bring,Then anew this song we’ll sing:Hallelujah! what a Savior!
We believe that God—who is perfectly merciful and also very just—sent his Son to assume the nature in which the disobedience had been committed, in order to bear in it the punishment of sin by his most bitter passion and death. So God made known his justice toward his Son, who was charged with our sin, and he poured out his goodness and mercy on us, who are guilty and worthy of damnation, giving to us his Son to die, by a most perfect love, and raising him to life for our justification, in order that by him we might have immortality and eternal life.
†The Confession of Faith ......................................... The Belgic Confession, Article 20

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
The Assurance of Pardoning Grace .................................................... 1 Peter 2:24-25He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Eternal and Almighty God, we confess before your Divine Majesty that we are miserable sinners, born in corruption and iniquity, prone to evil, and of ourselves incapable of any good. We acknowledge that we transgress, in various ways, your holy commandments, so that we draw down on ourselves, through your righteous judgment, condemnation and death. We have deep sorrow in our hearts for having offended you; and we implore your grace to relieve our wretchedness. O most gracious God and merciful Father, have compassion on us in the name of your son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Pardon our sins, give us the graces of the Holy Spirit, and increase them day by day, to the end, that heartily acknowledging our unworthiness and forsaking our sins, we may be filled with that godly sorrow which brings about repentance unto salvation, and may bring forth fruits of righteousness acceptable to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

*‡The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.
And also with you.
Charles Smith, baritone horn
Come, we that love the Lord, and let our joys be known;Join in a song with sweet accord, and thus surround the throne.
We’re marching to Zion, the beautiful City of God!
Let those refuse to sing who never knew our God;But children of the heavenly King may speak their joys abroad.
Then let our songs abound and every tear be dry; We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground to fairer worlds on high.

Offertory—Man of Sorrows ..................................................Ligertwood and Crocker
Words and Music by Brooke Ligertwood and Matt Crocker | © 2012 Hillsong Music Publishing
Man of sorrows Lamb of GodBy his own betrayedThe sin of man and wrath of GodHas been on Jesus laid
Silent as he stood accusedBeaten, mocked, and scornedBowing to the Father’s willHe took a crown of thorns
Oh, that rugged cross my salvationWhere your love poured out over meNow my soul cries out hallelujahPraise and honor unto thee
Sent of heaven God’s own SonTo purchase and redeemAnd reconcile the very onesWho nailed him to that tree
Now my debt is paidIt is paid in fullBy the precious bloodThat my Jesus spilledNow the curse of sinHas no hold on meWhom the Son sets freeOh, is free indeed
See the stone is rolled awayBehold the empty tombHallelujah God be praisedHe’s risen from the grave

The Lord’s Supper
Words: Louisa Stead, 1882 | Music: William Kirkpatrick, 1882
Sung by all’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus Just to take him at his wordJust to rest upon his promise Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord”
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust himHow I’ve proved him o’er and o’erJesus, Jesus, precious JesusOh, for grace to trust him more
O how sweet to trust in JesusJust to trust his cleansing bloodJust in simple faith to plunge me ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood
Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus Just from sin and self to ceaseJust from Jesus simply takingLife and rest and joy and peace
