Friday, Sept. 21 — PJs & Popcorn Parents’ Night Out — Join us from 6-9 p.m. for our first monthly Parents’ Night Out event!The cost is $10 per child ($5 for each additional child). Parents may drop off their children at the Great Room of the Children’s Building. Kiddos are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring a picnic dinner. We will serve popcorn and watch a movie in addition to playing on the playground!

Youth NewsWelcome to September!Sept. 2 — Youth Sunday School with Lisa and Nikki. Join the fun at 10 a.m. Youth Group is from 5-7 p.m.

The Youth Sunday School Class has partnered with the Travis County Community Center at Oak Hill to collect food andother personal items all year long. Donations will be delivered monthly to the center. Look for the collection bin in the hallway between the coffee bar area and the Youth Sunday School classroom.

Disciple I Bible Study Begins Sept. 9 Sundays, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Adult Education Building (Room TBA)A Disciple I Bible Study will meet at church Sunday evenings (4:30-6:30) starting Sept. 9. Childcare will be provided, andthe children will eat while the adults meet. The Cokesbury Disciple Bible Study series are long-term (34-week) studies that cover the entire Bible. Disciple I, “Becoming Disciples through Bible Study,” gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God. If you would like to join the fall study group, contact Cliff and Catharine Corder([email protected] or (979) 204-1618) for room details, childcare needs, and ordering a study manual. 

Study Manual: Participants will need a study manual and a Bible. Study manuals ordered by the church will be distributed at the first meeting, and the church can be reimbursed by check. You can also purchase a Kindle version and keep notes in a separate notebook. Cokesbury recommends the New Interpreters Study Bible.

Wednesday Morning UMW Study Group Returns From Summer Break Wednesday, Sept. 12 10 a.m. Room 201, Adult Education BuildingThe Wednesday Morning United Methodist Women study group reconvenes after a summer hiatus for a five-week study beginning Wednesday morning, Sept. 12. The study, Namesake: When God Rewrites Your Story, is written by Jessica LaGrone, dean of the Chapel of Asbury Theological Seminary and an acclaimed pastor, teacher, author, and speaker.  

Jeannine Inbody will lead the study each week as we focus on different biblical characters: Abraham and Sarah, Jacob, Naomi,Daniel, Peter, and the woman caught in adultery.

All are welcome to join this group. Please contact Gail Jones at [email protected] or (512) 906-0790 before Sept. 5. She will be ordering study books for each participant.

From FUMC-Rockport’s “Beacon” newsletter:VBS Mission Partnership Jenny Holm, Children’s Director at Oak Hill UMC in Austin, TX,  contacted FUMC Rockport early in the summer and asked about partnering with us on a Vacation Bible School mission project. Since our mission project was collecting items for Good Samaritans, their church did the same so that together we could make an even bigger impact! Jenny came to Rockport on August 24th to deliver several boxes and bags of non-perishable foods as well as hygiene items to Good Samaritans! Thank you, Jenny, and Oak Hill UMC for blessing our community in this way
