We are delighted to invite you to participate in the 4th WorldcaLL conference, which will be held at the Scottish Exhibition and conference centre, Glasgow, uK on 10 – 13 July 2013.

the conference is being organised by the university of ulster in northern ireland, which has established itself as one of Europe’s leading institutions in the area of computer assisted language learning and hosts the headquarters of the European association for computer assisted Language Learning (EurocaLL). the university is delighted to be able to host the conference in Glasgow, in one of the uK’s leading conference centres. Glasgow is one of Europe’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities. Widely recognised as being among the world’s most exciting cultural capitals; it is a friendly city where the people are proud of their heritage and delight in making visitors feel welcome.

Established in 1998, the World association for computer assisted Language Learning aims to enhance computer-assisted language teaching and learning in the global community by bringing educators from around the world together. Every five years, WorldcaLL brings together the main caLL research bodies from Europe, uSa, canada, Japan and australia and the 2013 conference will be the first time the conference has been hosted in Europe, having been hosted previously in australia, canada and Japan.

the main aim of WorldcaLL is to promote the use of computer-assisted language learning across the world and supplying professional training and development for teachers. in particular, it aims to give developing countries, through sponsorship, the opportunity to project their culture worldwide and to become involved in the application of new technologies in language learning. in keeping with this goal, the theme of the 2013 conference is “sustainability and caLL”, with particular focus on how new technologies such as social media and portable devices can be best used in language learning and how future technological advances may change the approach to language learning and teaching.

the conference will bring together over 500 of the world’s leading experts in computer-assisted language learning from academic, educational and industrial sectors.

We are asking industries related to educational technology and software, as well as those associated with the development of teaching resources, teacher training and academic research to participate actively in this prestigious event, which will act as a shop window for these areas, and provide a major opportunity for you to promote the interests of your company. We hope you will consider supporting WorldcaLL 2013, and we look forward to seeing you in Glasgow.

Yours sincerely

University of UlsterChair, WorldCALL 2013 Local Organising Committee
