The key thing with the library online catalog is to keep your search simple.

Less is better.

The “Call Number” is your road map through the library. This is how you locate books. Jot down the Call Number and go to the

Circulating Collection on the top floor. Ask for help if you need it!

Use the Advanced Search ( in drop down window).

If you leave Full Text unchecked, you will still get full text articles. You will ALSO (1) have the option to interlibrary loan an article that is not available at

HVCC, and (2) link to another HVCC database where the article is full text.

An ABSTRACT is an brief description of the article written by the author.

Many of these research databases provide citation tools and these are certainly more helpful than nothing at all. However, I recommend you check your format with a Faculty Writing Specialist (in the Writing and Research Center of the Marvin Library

Learning Commons) OR the Cite Your Sources page on the Library website.
