Atharva Veda is considered to be the origin of Yoga. The samhitas of Charaka, Sushruta and Vagbhata, Yoga and Tantra texts have origins in the Atharva Veda. Vedic Philosophy and Tantras describe Yoga having its roots about 5000 years BC. The great sage, Patanjali, described yoga as “Asthang Yoga” meaning eight limbed path for attaining the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with soul. The Asthanga Yoga consists of Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharna and Dhayan. Chakras are superior energetic control centres. In modern medical science it has similarly with endocrine glands secreting a variety of different harmones directly into blood thus presenting chemical balance. As we know the endocrine system is vital to maintenance of health. The endocrine glands are pineal gland (sahashar chakra), pitutory gland (ajna chakra), thyroid gland (vishudhi chakra), thymus gland (anahat chakra), pancreas gland (Manipur chakra), adrenal gland (swadhisthan chakra), ovary and testicle gland (muladhar chakra). As such Chakras exercise multiple functions of nervous system, assimilatory system, circulatory system, lymphatic system and excretory system.

Introduction

The Concept of Chakras finds enormous place in Indian Yogic philosophy. It is heritage of the vedic concept. With balancing of these chakras in our body, we can obtain spiritual health and then automatically physical health. These chakras perform multiple functions on physical, psychic and emotional planes. They hold together the mind and the spirit. They are the bridge between psychic and somatic occurrence in the body.

In modern medical science it has similarity with endocrine glands secreting a variety of different hormones directly into the blood, thus preserving chemical balance. The five energies are connected to various functions of human body as follows:

Chakras The chakras are major energy centres located on meridians, thus these an important and vital life extension of the acupuncture meridian system. Generally acupoints as energy centres on meridians discharge the dualistic functions transmission of Chi along its course of meridian as well as flow of blood which follows Chi. We can remain healthy and painless through Chakra Balance. Concept of chakras find enormous place in Indian Yoga Philosophy but it has parallels almost in all therapies. In western medical science it has par with endocrine glands secreting a variety of different hormones directly into blood and in this way preserving chemical balance and connection among internal organs. The endocrine system is vital to maintenance of normal health. Westerns identified a number of vital endocrine glands such as

1 Pineal gland (Sahasrahara chakra) 2.Pitutory gland (Ajna chakra ) 3.Thyriod gland (Vishuddha chakra ) 4.Thymus gland (Anahat chakra) 5.Pancreas gland (Manipuri chakra ) 6.Adernal gland (Swadhisthan chakra ) 7.Ovaries and Testicle gland (Muladhar chakra)

Conclusion

We have seen that everything in the human body system is connected to five elements and related chakras. If there is an imbalance of their concerned energies in the body, the body becomes diseased. We can balance out these energies by stimulating appropriate acupoints in their concerned meridian and by stimulating chakras on hands and feet as per the Sujok Acupuncture technique. By balancing of these chakra energies we can remain healthy and painless.
