One Company. One Team. One Look.

THE ATLAS COPCO WORKWEAR COLLECTIONONE COMPANY - ONE TEAM - ONE LOOK

In order to further strengthen the Atlas Copco brand worldwide and to instill pride among our employees, the official Atlas Copco workwear collection was introduced in 2011. The vision was and remain that all Atlas Copco service technicians and service engineers in the field will look the same so that no matter where in the world you are, you should always recognize Atlas Copco and the quality and expertise we stand for.

Equally important, by wearing the same workwear collection, we safeguard that all employees have the same safe working conditions through high-quality, custom made clothes and accessories, tailor made based on our unique needs and preferences and tested according to international standards.

The Atlas Copco workwear collection is developed in close cooperation with you, our internal customers, and can be purchased from the Profile Store. The collection is manufactured in line with Atlas Copco’s Business Code of Practice via a thoroughly scrutinized supply chain, and offers a vast variation of models, fabrics, and patterns to choose from, including adaptations to local laws and regulations.

With the increasing importance of service within the Group and the service providers’ frequent interaction with customers, one common look will strengthen the Atlas Copco brand internally as well as externally, helping us attract new business as well as new employees.

“You only get one chance to make a first impression.”

To enhance the longevity and durability of garments the Atlas Copco Workwear has made sure to strengthen the most exposed parts on the garments. Areas such as hanging pockets, kneepad areas, sleeve ends, and ankles are places that need tougher fabrics to achieve increased durability, usability, and optimal use. These factors have been taken into consideration during product development and are put into practice whenever possible.

The Atlas Copco Workwear collection has also used fabrics that protect from the sun and are produced from fabrics rated for its level of ultraviolet (UV) protection. All Atlas Copco fabrics are rated UPF 40-50+ which is the highest level of protection.

Gray Service Wear

An important part of service experience is the ability to provide consistent experience, from the look of the technician to excellent service. The customer soon relates excellent service with the look of the technician, so a unified look for technicians across the world is an important asset for Atlas Copco.

Twill fabric: 65% polyester, 35% cotton, 235 g/m2.Cotton & polyester blends combine the best of the properties of both fibers to provide a fabric that is both easy to care for and provides the comfort af-forded by the moisture-absorbing characteristics of cotton. The fabric’s abrasion level is very high which makes the fabric very durable.

Canvas fabric: 65% polyester, 35% cotton, 310 g/m2.Cotton & polyester blends combine the best of the properties of both fibers to provide a fabric that is both easy to care for and provides the comfort af-forded by the moisture-absorbing characteristics of cotton.

Duratex fabric:DURATEXTM Canvas is designed for clothing that requires an extremely durable and wearable fabric. The nylon-based fabric can take the punishment meted out work or at the weekend, while also providing long lasting comfort.

Fluorescent fabric: 54% polyester, 46% cotton, 260 g/m2.Cotton & polyester blends combine the best of the properties of both fibers to provide a fabric that is both easy to care for and provides the comfort afforded by the moisture-absorbing characteristics of cotton. This fabric absorbs ultraviolet radiation in daylight and emits it in the visible light region. This property allows the material to radiate more visible light than is incident on it. Atlas Copco Workwear’s high-visibility fabric is produced in such way that the cotton has increased comfort where it is closest to the skin. Combined with a water-repellent finish and a high level of abrasion, which makes the fabric very durable.

Flame Retardant fabric: 75% cotton, 24% polyester 1%, antistatic material, 290 g/m2.This fabric offers protection from heat and flame, from molten metal splashes, and from heat of an electric arc; it is anti-static and performs in environments where high daylight visibility is required.

Fine twill:100% cotton, 160 g/m2.Cotton fabric allows air to flow through freely. The fabric absorbs sweat and releases it on its surface. This is often described as the fabric “breathing” and is considered an asset in clothing, particularly in warm climates.

Care Instructions

Proper washing vital for function and safety.Modern work wear and protective clothing requires the right washing and finishing treatment to maintain its func-tion. Industrial washing is the safest way to get this guarantee. An industrial laundry has strict control over the entire process - from the collection of dirty goods to the delivery of complete, clean and serviceable clothing. That way you can ensure that your employees have the protection needed to perform their work safely. High-visibility clothing that does not show properly loses its protective func-tion. The fluorescent and reflective materials require proper washing and care of the garments. Flame retardant gar-ments should not be washed with soap detergent, commonly used at home.

An industrial laundry uses only eco- friendly, synthetic detergent and thus the protective effect of the garments is retained. Flame retardant clothing and high-visibility clothing does not withstand fabric softener or bleach. In addition, dirty, wet or sweaty clothes have inferior flame protection, making it important that these garments are washed regularly.

Customers at an industrial laundry usually get traceability of their garments. In the online system, you will see how often the clothes are changed by the staff, and when the garment has been washed and checked. You get a complete history and overview, which confirms to the user that the garments still maintain the right protection. If your work clothes are washed at home anyway, please read care instructions carefully. This is your guarantee that every garment retains its full protection qualities.

Garment care instructionsFollow the symbols on the wash care label inside your garment. Only use a synthetic detergent. Do not use soap-based detergents. The garment should be kept clean to ensure maximum protective performance. The garment should be inspected after washing. The garment may only be repaired using materials and threads that meet the requirements of the standard for the garment.

Any risks which the equipment itself may create shall also be taken into account. The assessment shall be reviewed if any changes are made to any of its elements.

When personal protective equipment is used, account shall be taken of• the duration of the work, • the physical and mental load, • the extent and frequency of the risk, • special conditions prevailing at the workplace, and • the performance of the personal protective equipment concerned.

Employees shall comply with instructions given concerning the use of personal protective equipment. The employer shall see to it that the personal protective equipment is maintained, inspected, repaired and stored in such a way that its protective effect and hygienic quality are preserved. Equipment which has been damaged or for some other reason presumably affords insufficient protection may not be used.

The following are among the things needing to be taken into account in order for the risks to be identifiable:

• working routines, • work equipment, • workplace design, • duration of the work, • the physical and mental load which the work entails, • thermal climate, • the extent and frequency of the risk, • the particular conditions prevailing in the workplace, • individual factors on the part of the wearer.

It is important that the employer verify that the information supplied to the employee concerning the equipment is properly understood. It is also important for the employee to have understood the contents of the instructions for use. It is important to inform the person who will be using the PPE that its protective effect may be reduced or eliminated if it is used for a purpose other than that for which it is intended.Atlas Copco Workwear products are manufactured and tested to the standards set out in European directive 89/686/EEC and is therefor marked in accordance with CE marking regulations. Atlas Copco’s Workwear is intended to protect against accidents or injuries when working under condition’s involving cold, heat, flame, rain, and reduced visibility. The CE marks refers to the safety of the products. European directive (89/686/EEC) is the legislation in European member states relating to personal protective equipment ( PPE). European directive

(89/686/EEC) defines the basic health and safety requirements for design and manufacture which must be fulfilled by PPE. The European directive classifies PPE in three categories:

Category 1 covers the lowest level of PPE. The user is assumed to assess the needs for protection him or herself, and there is a limited risk of severe consequences of not using appropriate PPE. The products under this category are self-declared by the marketer to comply with the standards. Atlas Copco Workwear products under this category are waterproof clothing (EN 343).

Category 2 covers products intended to be used in environments with risk for severe, but not fatal, consequences (not category 1 or 3). The products must be tested by an accredited laboratory and certified by a notified body. Products under this category are flame-retardant clothing (EN 11612, EN 11611), clothing with protection against static electricity (EN 1149), high-visibility (EN 471), and protective clothing against cold (EN 342).

Category 3 covers products and environments where the user can be exposed to mortal danger or to dangers that may seriously and irreversibly harm health. Products under this category comply with, for example, EN 61482; clothing for use by workers at risk from exposure to an electrical arc.

Product PerformanceThe CE mark and the garment labels provide documentation that the product complies with performance standards set for a product of such nature. It is not an assurance that the product will prevent risk of accidents or severe injuries when the user is exposed to such risks within a working environment. Below is a summarized presentation of the harmonized European (EN) standards used in the Atlas Copco Workwear collection. The test data is given as an integral part of the symbol as measured to prescribe protective properties on a scale from 1 to 3 or 4, where 3 or 4 is the highest level. The actual data for a Atlas Copco product are given on the inseam label and in the booklet attached to the garment as well as in the product section of this brochure and in the Profile Store. Atlas Copco Workwear goal is to manufacture products that make your work more comfortable, easier, and safer. Clothing that can take a beating. We regularly test the raw materials to ensure excellent quality at all times. Our lab tests wear and tear, rip and pull resistance, colorfastness, and shrinkage. A – This number indicates the class according to the minimum required areas of thevisible materials (max. 3).

User instructionsThe selection and use of high-visibility clothing should be based on a risk assessment of the conditions in which the wearer of the high-visibility clothing will be working. This is a high-visibility protective garment and must not be covered by other clothing or equipment. If the protective garment is dirty, its performance will be impaired. The garment should be cared for according to the instructions inside the garment. Please see the CE label inside the garment to find out its protection class under the EN ISO 20471 standard. When Class 2 certified high-visibility trousers are worn with a certified high-visibility jacket or shirt (Class 2 or higher), the combination of garments provides Class 3 protection level. The combination of Class 1 high-visibility trousers together with Class 2 high-visibility jacket is not always Class 3. Contact the manufacturer for further information. The protective clothing must be stored in a dry and well-ventilated space. The high-visibility garment is not suitable for use when working with fire. The use of a high-visibility garment does not guarantee that the wearer will be visible in all circumstances and conditions. The garment may only be repaired using materials that meet the requirements of the standard for the garment. Note that the class of the garment is based on the area of visible materials which is why surface marking of garments is restricted. Classified according to EN ISO 20471.

Clothing to protect against heat and flame. Replaces EN 531. EN ISO 11612 gives the wearer protection against brief contact with heat and flame. The heat can be convective, radiant, molten material, or a combination thereof. The garment is classified for the following parameters and depending on working environment the requirement can alter:

(A1) Limited flame spread, surface-ignition method. (A2) Limited flame spread, edge-ignition method. (B) Garment provides protection of convective heat, scale 1-3 - highest level is 3. (C) Material provides protection of radiant heat, scale 1-4 - highest level is 4. (E) Material provides protection of molten-iron splash, scale 1-3 - highest level is 3.

User instructionsThe garment must be used in combination with other clothing that ensures protection in compliance with EN ISO 11612. Parts of the body that are not covered by this clothing must be protected in another way. The garment must be fastened up when used. If a chemical or flammable liquid splashes on the garment, the wearer should immediately leave the area and carefully remove the garment from the body. It is important when removing the garment that the chemical or liquid does not come into contact with any part of the skin. The garment should thereafter be discarded. If the garment is splashed with molten metal, the wearer must immediately leave the workplace and remove the exposed garment. It is possible that the garment does not eliminate the risk of burns by hot, molten metal if the garment is worn directly against the skin. When a combination of different garments are worn, they become classified as the garment that provides the lowest level of protection.

Protective clothing for use in welding and allied processes.Replaces EN 470-1. Protective clothing certified according to EN ISO 11611 gives the wearer protection against small splashes of molten metal, and brief contact with flames. The garments certified to this standard are suitable for use in welding and allied processes. The garment is classified for the protection ability against different levels of welding technology, which cause more or less spatter and radiant heat.

Class 1 - Protects against less hazardous welding techniques and situations, causing lower spatter and radiant heat.Class 2 – Protects against against more hazardous welding techniques and situations, causing higher levels of spatter and radiant heat.Letter A printed on the label indicates that the garment meets the requirements for limited flame spread. A1 surface-ignition method. A2 edge-ignition method. A1 + A2 both methods.

User instructionsThe garment must be used in combination with other clothing that ensures protection in compliance with EN ISO 11611. Parts of the body that are not covered by this clothing must be protected in another way. The garment must be closed when used. We highly recommend wearing additional protection for some parts of the body, e.g. during overhead welding operations. The protective garment’s electrical insulation properties will be reduced when the clothing is wet, dirty, or sweaty. When additional protective clothing is worn for parts of the body, the basic garment must meet at least Class 1 requirements. Caution: •For operational reasons, not all live parts of arc welding equipment can be protected against direct contact.•The protective clothing is designed only to protect the wearer from brief, accidental contact with the live parts of the arc-welding circuit. Additional layers of electrical insulating clothing are required where there is an increased risk of electric shock. •Particular care should always be taken when welding in confined spaces. When a combination of different garments are worn, they become classified as the garment that provides the lowest level of protection.

Air permeability, AP AP measures the ease with which the air can pass through the material.

Resistance to water penetration, WP (optional) WP measures the opposition to the passage of water through the material from the outside. Material and seams are tested for water penetration.

Water Vapor resistance, Ret This measures the fabrics unwillingness to let water vapor pass through. Water vapor resistance is measured on the combination of all layers of garments, except for under wear. To pass EN 342 the Ret value needs to be less than 55 m2Pa/W.

Protective clothing against rain A – This number indicates resistance to water penetration (max. 3). B – This number indicates resistance to water vapor (max. 3).

Poor weather: The water resistance of fabric/seams is measured using the water column test method to determine the penetration of fabric and seams before and after treatment. The performance is specified in three classes, with Class 3 denoting the highest level.

Water vapor resistance is a measure of the garment’s ability to allow water vapor to pass through the fabric. Class 1 (Ret > 40) indicates high resistance or low breathability. Class 3 (Ret ≤ 20) indicates high breathability or ability to transport moisture.

The chart above shows the effect of the water vapor’s penetration ability on the recommended continuous wearing time at different working temperatures. The figures in the chart specify the maximum recommended wearing time for a complete outfit (jacket and trousers) without a warm lining. The chart is applicable at a medium physical load M = 150 W/m2, average mean, 50% relative humidity and wind speed va = 0.5 m/s. Effective ventilation openings and/or breaks can extend the wearing time.

User InstructionsProtective clothing that is certified to the EN 343 standard to withstand precipitation, fog, and ground humidity and is tested accordingly. The garment should be fastened up properly before use to ensure maximum protective performance. If the protective garment is dirty, its performance will be impaired.
