WORKING WITH ANGELS  http://www.eaglevision.com.my

1. ATTITUDES AND WORDSI have been believing God for about seventeen years for the healing of my eyes. And there has beenremarkable improvement. Recently a few months ago I was asleep and then in the middle of the night I waswide-awake and was spending time with the ord. !here was an angel that came and didn"t say any word. And he took a round ball of light. It looks more to me like an eyeball. #e took it and came straight at me andput that ball of light into my left eye and it went inside of me. I could feel it going inside of me and it becamelike a fire on my inside. In view of that I felt that I should teach on the working with angels.

$irst I will %uote a few e&periences of people working with angels. And then I will go to the word of

God. 'ou can never know something until you have e&perienced it first. (hristian life is not a creed. It)s not *ust a theology although we want to develop the best theology possible in (hristendom. +e alwaysrecogni,ed one fact that it is the revelation that comes from God. It is not because we strive or we ac%uire onour own ability that we can understand anything of God. !he wisest man in the world in the sight of God islike a fool. !he wisdom of God is so great and high above the reach of man. +e can never understand #imby our ability or anything of #is manifestation. !he foolishness of God is so powerful that it confounds thewisest man. !hat is how great our God is.

And there is a spiritual law in principle that we don"t really know anything until we e&perienced it. 'oucan know something about those things. 'ou know about those things through somebody else sharing whattheir e&perience or through reading the word of God. ut we don"t really know it until we e&perienced it. Godis a person and #e wants us to e&perience #im as a person. 'our relationship with your wife is a legalrelationship. ut at the same time is a personal relationship. A house is a house but it is the relationship

within the things that takes place called a house that makes it a home. (hristianity is a true life relationshipwith God. +hen you e&perience a person you e&perience him in the spiritual world which has a side effect onour soul and on our body. And so in working with angels we can never really understand them until wee&perienced them.

#owever we cannot base theology on e&perience. !heology must be based on the word of God. utthe e&perience helps us to look at the word in a different way. +ithout the e&perience I believe none of us willlook at the word in a different way. !here are many people who were former hard nut anti (harismatic. neday they were hungry for God. God touched them and all the theology and arguments and persuasions in theworld that could not persuade them to change their view. ne e&perience changed them. And they re-alignthe whole thinking. ne good e&ample is the apostle aul a great intellect in his time. 0o amount ofarguments1 no amount of reasoning could have converted him. ut one awesome e&perience with the ord

2esus (hrist on the way to 3amascus was enough to change him. aul did not base his theology one&perience. ecause of the one e&perience he went back and re-studied his theology. ur theology needs tobe re-studied from time to time. ecause sometimes our theology hinders us from the e&periences of God1especially when it is a wrong theology. 4o we do not base theologian e&perience. ut we recogni,e thate&periences help us and inspire us to look at the word of God in ways we never look at before.

In 5enneth #agin)s biography in 6I believe in vision6 he described a visitation from an angel. I like toread some e&tracts from that before we look into the word. And see some principle on working with angels.Reading from the book 6I believe in vision6:

My fifth vision occurred in Texas in 1958 while l was holding a revival meeting at the First Assemblyof God hurch! a##eared on the #latform! And about three feet behind *im stood an angel! )esus said to me+ ,& send myangel to s#ea- to you nearly a year ago in alifornia!, & remember the occasion says .enneth *iggins and &have not res#onded to him! "ne afternoon & was lying across the bed in my house trailer resting! & wasmeditating and reading my bible getting ready for the service that evening! 'uddenly & had a feeling thatsomeone had come into the trailer! & loo-ed but couldn/t see anybody! 0ut & was #ositive that someone hadcome in through the door! &t even seem as if & had heard the door o#en and close! & sensed that someonecame and stood beside the bed! & reached out my hand to feel whatever might be there! And & said & -now

you are there! $ho are you There was no res#onse! Although & never saw anyone & sensed that someonestood there for a few moments! Then he turned around+ re2trace his ste#s to the foot of the bed went u#through the trailer and out the door!

#e missed his angel)s visit. I wonder whether you have missed the angel)s visit.

Then & seem led by the '#irit to o#en my bible and read about the ministry of angels! & felt that anangel had come to me but & have not o#ened my heart to the visitation! $e continued our ministry in thestate of alifornia! The children were traveling with us at this time doing their schoolwor- throughcorres#ondence courses which we hel#ed them with! As they have been traveling with us for about a yearwe decided that it was too hard on them! They were doing a great deal of traveling! $e were doing two

services a day as well as trying to -ee# u# their studies by corres#ondence! Therefore we decided to returnto our home in Garland so that the children could attend a #ublic school! The #eo#le who have been rentingour house moved out so that we could move in! 0ut we have sold all our furniture when we bought our housetrailer! 'o we have to buy a whole house full of new furniture! "f course we have to go in debt to do so! Thismade our monthly #ayment extremely high! $e were still ma-ing #ayments on the trailer+ the house+ the carand then the furniture+ not to mention our living ex#enses! For more than a year we lac-ed for about ahundred dollars every month in getting enough money to meet our budget! Therefore we have to go in debtfor that much! & had to borrow a hundred each month 3ust to #ay ex#enses to -ee# o#erating! 0ac- in 1954the (ord had s#o-en to me warning me that a recession was coming! ot a de#ression but a recession andthat & should #re#are for it! Then fifteen moths later the (ord a##eared to me in Texas! & was still bearing theconse%uences of not getting ready for the recession!

And back to this vision where he saw the ord and the angel standing three feet behind him. And hewas remembering the incident when the ord says1 ,& sent my angel to warn you again when you were out inalifornia because & saw you haven6t listened to the leading of my '#irit and didn/t res#ond to my warning! &fyou had yielded to the s#irit and if you had res#onded to the *oly '#irit then you would have been able tosee into the realm of the s#irit! 0y the discerning of the s#irit you would have seen the angel and he wouldhave delivered his message to you! &f you would have received it+ you would have been s#ared all of thisfinancial troubles!,

As fifteen months have #assed since this time! And & was going in debt each month for a hundred

dollars! This now total a debt of one thousand five hundred dollars! The (ord continued+ ,& am going to hel#you however!, & sold the trailer with the hel# of the (ord! *e also said & am going to hel# you in your ministry

as well! And he tal-ed to me about my ministry admonishing me to be faithful! Then #ointing to the angelstanding beside him+ *e says+ ,This is your angel!, ,My angel, ,7es your angel+ and if you were to res#ondto him+ he will a##ear to you as & will at times! And will give you guidance and directions concerning thethings of life! 'o angels are ministering s#irits who are sent to minister for those who are the heirs ofsalvation! verything that the (ord has shown to me in this vision concerning my finances+ my ministry cameto #ass within ninety days!

In other books he talked about how when he look at the angel. !he angel said my angels are

working to bring the finances to you. !hen he asked the angel what do you mean by my angels. !hat angelsaid he has other angels working with him. !his is the statement you see often1 if you res#ond+ if you yield+ ifyou o#en yourself . 0ow God will speak to you first through the word of God and the #oly 4pirit. And he will

complement it with the working of the angel. ut many times when we are not listening carefully and we arenot fully yielding and we do not respond to them1 your supposed visitation becomes nothing.

And the (ord s#o-e to me and said+ ,Tell the #eo#le in your church that my angels have beenwor-ing with them and some of them have not been res#onding to the angels therefore they are in financial #roblem! 0ut if they were to listen to what my *oly '#irit and my word is saying and res#ond to theinstruction that & sent my angels to bring to them+ they will #ros#er!,

!herefore I am teaching on working with angels so that we will not fail to respond when the angels

are working in our lives. Another e&perience from1 the book 6+ar beyond the stars - Angelic encounter6 #ereis a different occurrence where one day there was this business man who was taking a rabbi to visit achurch. et me read that story to you. #e was showing a 2ewish Rabbi to his home church one morning. !heRabbi has been bapti,ed in the #oly 4pirit and was to share his testimony in a local $.G..7.$.I (hapter thatevening. As they toured !om)s church1 it was the time of the morning prayer meeting. +hen they came to theprayer room1 they passed %uietly so as not to disturb the men who were praying. As they approached thedoor to leave the room1 one of the men began praying very loudly in his heavenly language. !om moved onas he was accustomed to this type of prayer. #owever the Rabbi lingered at the door. After a few moments!om approach the Rabbi to remind him that it was time to continue as they were to speak before a ladiesluncheon and must first return to the hotel to dress. ut the Rabbi placed his finger across his lips. $or someten to fifteen minutes !om waited. 4urely the Rabbi has e&perienced such a thing before1 an intercessorpraying in tongues. As he approached the Rabbi again1 he noticed that the Rabbi)s countenance hadchanged. #e looks like someone who had seen a ghost. #is comple&ion was white. 6+hat)s wrong86 !om

asked. 64ilence6 the Rabbi commanded. $or a full thirty minutes the Rabbi stood in the doorway listeningintensely to the prayer of the man in the prayer room. After a while there was silence. +ho was the manpraying8 +hat language does he know8 !he Rabbi %ueried. !om said1 6#e is an uneducated man here in thechurch. #e knows no language other than 9nglish. I know him well. I will introduce you so that you can seefor yourself.6 !he Rabbi then e&plained that he had *ust listened to the most beautiful and perfect #ebrew.!he man switched from salms and began calling angels by name and sending them on missions. Angelswere called by their #ebrew names and were sent out on specified mission to aid those who needed help.4ome were sent to aid missionaries in troubles. !he names and vocation of the missionaries were also beingmentioned in the #ebrew language. !he Rabbi was visibly shaken. 0ever had he even remotely dreamt thatsuch a thing could be possible. And of course !om re%uired some time to regain his composure.

!hat is a true story here. 0ow what does the word of God say about working with angels8 +e need

to understand that angels are real beings and they have laws by which they governed and which theyfunction in. 4ome of the laws are initiated from God)s side. 4ome of the laws are on our side. $rom 5enneth#agin)s testimony I showed you that there are some things from our side. #ow we respond to them. +eknow that there is a law in the spirit that is irrevocable. God only interferes when man pray on the affairs ofhis life. It is the prayers that allow God)s intervention on this earth. #ow #e interferes1 some of the how isthrough angels.

4o as we work with angels I want to point very clearly to those facts that the words that we speakand the attitudes of our hearts will cause and affect our success in working with angels. Angels are beings ofGod who carry specific mission and specific gifts that God sends. And if our attitudes and response to themis not correct and wrong1 it will also hinder their ministry. 4o the first area is the attitudes of our hearts. !he

second is that our prayers and our words are affecting the spirit world in ways that we never reali,ed.

And we need to look at the word of God to establish that fact. !he first fact that I want to establishfrom the word of God and establish the theology based on at least three scriptures is that the words that wespeak in our mouth affect the work of the angles in our lives.

ook at the book of 3aniel1 the ord also impressed me to share this that some of us are about toenter into the newness of ministry. And this is the word that God gives that the prophetic has always workedwith angels. And the time that God is going to start working closely with us through angelic visitations hascome. And the ord says to open his heart to it and to open his life to them and we will enter into a newphase of ministry. ut for some of us there is as new dimension that you will enter into that you will began to

work with angels. +e have been working with the word of God1 with the #oly 4pirit and with the angelsinvisibly. +e have come to the point where we need to understand them working with us so that we couldflow and fine-tune some finer things that God wants to do.

In the book of 3aniel ;: onwards. &n the third year of yrus -ing of ersia a message was

revealed to :aniel his name was called 0eltesha;;ar! <!he message was true but the appointed time waswrong. And he understood the message and the understanding of the vision.= &n those days & :aniel wasmourning three full wee-s! & ate no #leasant food+ no meat or wine came into my mouth+ nor did & anointmyself till three whole wee-s were fulfilled! ow on the twenty fourth day of the first month as & was by theside of the great river that is the Tigris+ & lifted my eyes and loo-ed and behold a certain man clothed in linenwhose waist was girded with gold of <#ha;! *is body was li-e beryl+ his face loo-s li-e the a##earance oflightning+ his eyes li-e torches of fire+ his arms and feet li-e burnished bron;e in color and the sound of hiswords li-e the voice of a multitude! And & :aniel alone saw the vision! For the men who were with me did notsee the vision! 0ut a great terror fell u#on them so that they fled to hide themselves! Therefore & was leftalone! $hen & saw this great vision and no strength remain in me! 7et & heard the sound of his words! Andwhile & heard the sound of his words & was in a dee# slee# on my face to the ground! Then suddenly a handtouched me which made me tremble on my -nees and on the #alms of my hand! And he said to me+ ,":aniel man greatly beloved understand the words that & s#ea- to you and stand u#right for & have now beensent to you!, $hile he was s#ea-ing these words to me & stood trembling! Then he said to me+ ,:o not fear:aniel for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God+your words were heard and & have come because of your word! 0ut the #rince of the -ingdom of ersiawithstood me twenty one days+ and behold Michael one of the chief #rinces come to hel# me! For & have

been left alone here with the -ing of ersia! ow & have come to ma-e you understand what will ha##en toyour #eo#le in the latter days! For the vision refers to many days yet to come!,

I want to focus on verse twelve. #e says do not fear 3aniel for from the first day that you set your

heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God1 your words were heard. !hen the last phrasethat says I have come because of your word.

!here is a law in working with angels how important our confession even under your normal life1even under your normal conversation. !he words of our mouth are of vital conse%uence to the work ofangels in our life. 0ow it works both ways. It is through wrong confession that people have allowed demonicpowers to work in their lives ands in their families. And the opposite is true. In confessing the right words1

speaking words that are in line with God)s word and with the will of God it somehow affect the working ofangels with our life. #ere is an important key. If 3aniel did not say any word or pray any prayer1 there wouldhave been no angelic work here. !he only reason he came was not because it was initiated by God. It wasbecause 3aniel had a heart for God. #e wanted to understand something and he prayed and he cried andhe fasted. #e must have prayed many words and his words were heard and God initiated the angelicvisitation. !he angel didn"t say I came because God send. #e says I came because of your words. 'ourwords allowed God to send me here. !here is a relationship between our words that we speak and the workof angels.

0ow our words can come in many forms. It can come in normal conversation. It can come throughprayer. r it can come through a #oly Ghost anointed prayer and command. I want to make it very clear

here. Angels will not obey every whim and fancy of our words. Angels will not listen to any words1 anyprayers or respond to anything that is outside the will of God. It must be in line with the will of God. Andangels are not for you to order them or call them to do anything at your whim and fancy. 4o the first point isthat angels will not work outside of God)s perfect will.

+hat happen if it is in line with the word of God8 +hat happen if it is God)s will8 3o we need toinitiate the angels or not8 !here is an e&treme view that says we don"t need. God will initiate it. It is not truemy friends. If angels do not need to be initiated 7oses need not have his hands lifted high by Aaron and #urin the battle that 2oshua fought. 9very time 7oses lifted his hand high with the rod of 7oses the angels werereleased to work. ecause that rod was anointed1 by lifting it up he was yielding to God)s call and anointingin his life. And every time his hands were coming down 2oshua was being defeated. And Aaron and #ur hadto lift his hands up. And every time his hands were lifted up the angels were working powerfully. 9very time

his hands were down the angels were not working powerfully for him. 4o it is not true that we have no part ininitiating the work of angels.

It is the same theological %uestion as to say whether healing is initiated by God or initiated by man.

God initiate healing in (hrist is God)s will1 but man plays a role. !he same way with miracles. 9very miracleneeded something to be done to release it. And that)s the theological principle that stands true for allavenues of theology when God and man work together. !he same way angels are part of the process of Godworking with man. +e cannot put it to the sovereignty of God we will miss something. It is *ust like puttinghealing to the sovereignty of God. utting salvation to the sovereignty of God. ong ago they have putsalvation under the sovereignty of God. ecause of that people were not saved. +hen they reali,ed that God

is the one who save but we need to respond1 salvation came forth and *ustification by faith. And people whohave learned about the #oly 4pirit say if the #oly 4pirit want to come let him come they never bother to pray.ut when they realised that we need to get ourselves ready1 the #oly 4pirit came.

And in our times the revelations about working with angels and we need to get the right theologicalperspective. If we put it to the sovereignty of God there are a whole lot of things that we missed out. It is *ustlike healing. It is *ust like salvation. !here is a part that God plays. !here is a part that man plays within thewill of God. In working with angels in these last days and as we enter the last days there will be more andmore work of the angels. 2ust like beginning of the gospel there was a lot of hyper activities among theangels. !he last closing ages will be and we need to know how to work with them. 4o within the dimension ofthe will of God it is God and we working together. 0ot throwing it into the sovereignty of God and leave it atthat. It won)t work that way.

In 3aniel)s time the angel came forth and said it is because of your words. If he had not spokenanything there won)t be any appearances of angels. !here is something like 7oses would not have his faceshining like light bulb if he did not initiate and ask God I desire to see your glory. +e need to understand thatthere is an aspect of that to receive that which God has.

In the book of 3aniel >: ? 7et while & was s#ea-ing in #rayer+ the man Gabriel whom & had seen in

the vision at the beginning+ being caused to fly swiftly reached me about the time of the evening offering . Andthe #ebrew word links the prayer to the flying swiftly. #ere is another point the work of God with the angelsand us is partly God initiated partly how we respond and how we work with God in prayer and in our

confession in words that will bring it to pass. 7ore than that how fast and how %uick and how effective theangels will work in our life depends on our continual prayer and confession. ook at it very carefully1 angelGabriel was going on an assignment on his way to 3aniel. 3aniel didn"t know what was happening in thespirit. #e was probably praying his heart out. And as the angel was coming to 3aniel and as 3aniel prayedGabriel was caused to fly swiftly. 0ow you know why some of your angels came very slow. 0ot enoughprayer1 not enough confession of the word of God for God to work.

ook again 3aniel >: ? $hile & was s#ea-ing in #rayer the man Gabriel whom & had seen in a visionat the beginning being caused to fly swiftly reached me about the time of the evening offering . !he speed ofthe work of angels is related to our prayer. In the book of 7atthew ?@: B "r do you thin- that & cannot now #ray to my Father and *e will #rovide me with more than twelve legions of angels! 0ow I believe that was apossibility. 2ust like the temptation of 2esus. +hen satan said turn this stone into bread. 2esus could really

do it. If #e couldn)t really do it1 it wouldn)t have constituted a temptation. 0ow for 2esus this authority wasreal. #e could actually have done that. ut #e didn"t because he wanted to suffer the cause for us. ut thereis a point here. #e says do you think that I cannot now pray and my $ather will send the angels.

0ow here is the %uestion. +ho initiated the angels8 +e could pray and initiate the angels. 'ou

don"t pray you don"t initiate the angels. !hey don"t work automatically. eople have thought one thousandyears ago the salvation was automatic. eople have thought that the baptism in the 4pirit was automatic.eople have thought that healing was automatic. ut it is not. 'ou have to accept the teaching1 accept thosethings to be filled with the 4pirit. It is the same way with the angels. 4o this is a real situation where he says#e could have done that. If it is not real #e didn"t have the authority. If #e didn"t have the authority #e wastelling a lie. #e could have actually done that. And #e laid the ground rules for the principles on working with

angels that if we pray God initiate it forth. !he angels are there but they are also dependant on our responseand how we work for God to bring them forth.

Page 6: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

+hen 2esus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane #e prayed until his blood flow out. God sent anangel to strengthen #im. Cuestion would God have sent an angel to #im if #e had not prayed to that e&ten!.n the 7ount of !ransfiguration we are told that 2esus prophesied that there will be some who will not seedeath until they see the 4on of 7an coming in #is glory. !hree days later they went up to the 7ount of livesand the bible says as #e prayed #e was transfigured. Although it was a promise of God yet it takesobedience to bring it to pass. 4ame like prophecy. If you receive a prophecy is it that you don"t do anything1no. 4ome prophecies are unconditional but ninety nine percent of prophecies are all conditional. !here is a

part in how we respond to it. #ow we yield to it. #ow we allow our lives to flow along with it.

It is important for us to see here that there is that initiation that we have in God through our prayersthat brings forth the work of the angels in our lives. God would not have sent an angel to strengthen 2esus ifthere was no Gethsemane prayer. ut because #e has moved to the fullest possible way of God)s perfectwill God added the angels in. 4o there was an obedience and response on man)s side.

0ow in 7atthew ?@: B the Greek word ) #rovide) is a very special word. !he Greek word #rovide isthe word 6#aristemi6!  aristemi  doesn)t mean send . 4ome of us got it this way. I will pray to my $ather and#e will send me more that twelve legions of angels. !he Greek says I will pray to the $ather and #e willprovide me more than twelve legions of angels. And the word  #rovide  is the same Greek word used in

Romans @: B1 @1 > as the word yield . And the way we could translate it in Romans ?: is the word #resent . & urge you brethren #resent your bodies as a living sacrifice. 0ow that was the word #aristemi  whichmeans that God didn"t *ust send the angels to do something. 2esus could have prayed to God and Godwould have #aristemi  the angels. God would have presented the angels to him. !hat means the angels willbe there ready to obey his words.

3o you remember when 9lisha was surrounded buy the 4yrian army. !he boy was afraid and 9lishasaid don"t be afraid those who are with us are more than those who are against us. #e looked around andsaw these multitudes of 4yrians soldiers. !hen he look around again and say one1 two. +hat does this meanwe have more here8 And 9lisha knows that he was only looking in the natural and say ord open his eyes.#e opened his eyes and he saw thousands of angelic beings there more than the 4yrian army. And whatwere the angels waiting for8 All the angelic soldiers were there. +hy won)t they do anything8 !hey werewaiting only for one thing. $or 9lisha to give the word.

'our angels have been presented to you. !hey are waiting. !hey want you to speak a word. 0ot outof God)s will but the word that is in line with the will of God1 in line with the word of God. God wants us to co-operate and work with the angels. !he angels don)t work for us. !hey work with us. If they work with usmeans there is some co-operation. If they work for us there is nothing you and I can do. 9ven though wehave these angels they were waiting for one word. If your words are outside God)s will and outside God)swords they are powerless. ut when you are in the will of God and you are walking in line with the will of Godand the #oly Ghost is on you. 9very word that you speak is in line with God. It has an authority that is e%ualto God #imself speaking the word because it came from God. It came from the 4pirit of God. !hat is why thewritings of men anointed by the #oly Ghost become the inspired word of God1 the bible. !hese are words

spoken by the human beings but they were words that God gave.

4o 9lisha *ust say1 6ord1 slay them.6 And the angels worked. All the 4yrian soldiers were there1proud1 arrogant1 so many people against one prophet. And all the soldiers were waiting to charge. +hat theydidn"t see was that there were bigger angels ne&t to them. !hey were not doing anything. !hey were *ustwaiting. +aiting for what. 3idn"t God send them1 yes. ut #e provided 9lisha with the angels. +hen youpresent your bodies as a living sacrifice you are waiting for God to do something. +hen God present #isangels to us #e is waiting for us to speak the right words for the angels to work. +hat happens if 9lisha saysI surrender. +hat happens if 9lisha waits and say1 6God you are supposed to initiate.6 0othing would havehappened. #e has to take his God given authority1 anointed by the #oly Ghost1 in the will of God and speakforth the word. God slay them and the angels were waiting and all the 4yrian soldiers were blinded. +as itGod initiated or man initiated1 God and man.

!here is something that they will work for us. !hose things are called the blind spots. !here are blind

spots in everyone)s life. Areas where you have no knowledge and you are not responsible to answer to Godfor those things. Angles will work for you in that area. ut there are thing that we are responsible for. +e areresponsible in our obedience1 in our words1 in our prayers that if you fail the angels cannot work. Areasoutside our blind spots we become responsible. God could have presented the twelve legions 2esus neverasks them. !he fact is #e could.

ook at uke chapter one there was a man name Dechariah who have been praying to God for achild so long that he forgot his prayers. 0ow was he in the will of God1 yes. ne day as he was serving Godman angel appeared to him in verse eleven. Then an angel of the (ord a##eared to him standing on the rightside of the altar of incense! And when =echariah saw him he was troubled and fear fell u#on him! 0ut theangel said to him+ ,:o not be afraid =echariah+ for your #rayer is heard and your wife li;abeth will bear youa son and you shall call his name )ohn!,

#ere is another %uestion I ask again. +as this angel God initiated or man initiated8 et me tell you it

is man. #e came to answer a prayer. If Dechariah didn)t pray there would been no uke : B.

Remember (ornelius an unbeliever. It says that his alms and his prayers has come before God. Andfinally because he was so hungry for God1 God wanted him to be saved. Angels cannot preach the gospelbut the can direct you to where the gospel is preached. And in Acts ;: E The angel a##eared and said your #rayers and your alms have come for a memorial before God . !here would have been no appearance ofangel if (ornelius had not been constantly seeking after God and giving alms. ecause of his actions and hiswords there was an initiation of angels working in his life. uke : B !he angel said to him+ ,:o not be afraid=echariah for your #rayer is heard! 7our wife li;abeth will bear you a son and you shall call his name )ohn,!ur prayers and our words help and give the angels the authority to interfere in life)s affairs. God needs us tosay the word. God needs us to say the prayer. +ithout them they do no work. !hey will be standing by butthey won)t be able to work.

And *ust to show you how important the speaking of the word was. Dechariah was full of doubt and

unbelief in uke : F ,*ow shall & -now this for & am an old man and my wife is well advanced in years .6erse nineteen and the angel answered and said to him! & am Gabriel who stands in the #resence of Godand was sent to s#ea- to you and bring you this glad tiding! 0ehold you will be mute and not able to s#ea-until the day this thing ta-es #lace! 'ou know why he made him mute8 ecause he did not believe the mywords which will be fulfilled in their own time! !he other reason not recorded is so that he won)t have tospeak some dumb thing and the angel would have to cancel every work because it is so important to havethe right words coming out from our mouth for our angels to work with us. 4ilence is so much better thansaying the wrong word. If you can)t say the right word1 keep %uiet. And that incident tells you how importantthe work of angels is in connection to the words we speak.

ook at the book of #ebrews : E Are they not all ministering s#irits sent forth to minister for those

unto those who will inherit salvation! 0ow there is an interesting use of the Greek word here. !he worddianoia is found in the word to minister1 that is to serve. ut the use ministering s#irit  which is found in theGreek word )leitourgi-os ) which is a combination of two Greek words the ) leito) part talks about a public work.!he )ourgi-os) part talks about works. 4o it is like an assigned public work that God has given to his angels. And the way it is phrased is very interesting. In the Greek there are three possible ways leitourgi-os could bephrased. (eitourgi-os which means a person or property who perform a public duty or service to the state athis own e&pense. A minister or servant like Romans B: @. ne who minister release like hilippians ?: ?.f leitourgi  which means to perform some public service at one)s own e&pense. In the 0ew !estament toofficiate as a priest to minister in a (hristian church. 4econd (orinthians >:? which is for the minister to theneedy. It talks about a sort of service. ut in #ebrews one it says leitourgi-os which means engaged insubordinate service. In other words the angels have presented themselves and they are waiting to serve you. Although they are beings they are great in power1 great in glory. ut they are here to serve you by beingsubordinate to serve you.

It doesn)t mean they have to be lesser in power. !here are many types of angels. +hen you want to

worship1 you must work with worship angels. +hen you want to enter God)s most holy place1 you must

Page 8: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

understand the work of seraphim and cherubim. +hen you are in spiritual warfare taking authority overnations1 you must understand warring angels1 7ichael. !hen there are angels that are in charge ofrevelations1 Gabriel. And there is a whole group of angels and these are called the ministering angels. Andthey have the ability to take on the form and the shape of human beings. +hen the bible says be hospitable.4ometimes you are entertaining angels unaware. !hese are the angels who have been assigned to live withus all our life. !hese are the angels who have been helping you find a house1 helping you to sell a house1helping you with your finances etc. !hese are the angels in charge of that. 0ow these angels have been

leitourgi-os to us. And of all angels these angels need you to say especially the right word. ike if you arepraying God you know I need transportation. 'ou know I need a motorbike to transport people here andthere. +hen you pray that pray these angels go forth and start looking a motorbike for you. 'ou see theycould work invisibly. ut when you know how they work. 'ou could work in a more direct sense. 'ou couldhave lift up your hands and say God send forth your ministering angels in my life and help them bring amotor bike to me. I am saying that they are there to wait on you.

Again remember1 anything outside the will of God1 anything outside God)s word1 they are not goingto help you. It must be a part and parcel of your life. And you attitude must be right1 your life must be rightwith God. 4o these conditions are already met. And your words have an impact on these angels. I challengeyou to every morning you lift up your hands and say God send your angels forth to aid me1 to help me in myfinances1 to help me in my business1 and see the difference for one month.

ets look at the book of Romans F: ?-?@ ow we -now from all the other scri#tures that our #rayersand our words affect the wor- of angels! (i-ewise the '#irit also hel#s in our wea-nesses+ for we do not-now what we should #ray for as we ought+ but the *oly '#irit ma-es intercession for us with groaning whichcannot be uttered! ow *e who searches the heart -nows what the mind of the s#irit is because *e ma-esintercession for the saints according to the will of God . And that e&plains why when some people go deep inintercession1 it is no more them who are praying. It is the #oly 4pirit speaking through their life. And as muchas you can have a prophet say thus says the ord. +e could say how dare the prophet speaks like he isGod. +hat he is saying is God is speaking to you here.

0ow in this book 6+ar beyond the stars6 that person didn)t have the understanding of what is goingon. +hat happens when you have an understanding8 !here have been times when I have prayed1 I sensedan urge of the 4pirit to come forth and say in 2esus) name go ministering angels. God could have spoken itfrom heaven. #e could have spoken it through my lips through the #oly 4pirit. 4o lets see how we areflowing with the #oly 4pirit1 working with the #oly 4pirit. !he #oly 4pirit is not our servant. #e is our helper.!hose of you e&perienced know that when you work with the #oly 4pirit1 #e doesn)t do it for you. #e does itwith you. It is the same way with angels. !hey don)t *ust work for you. !hey work with you. +e need to learnhow to respond and work with these angels whom God has sent. +e have established the theological factthat angels) work are not *ust initiated by God. It is a co-operation between man and God. And some how ourprayers1 our words1 our confession1 affect the speed of their work1 and even their ability to work. !helimitation is it must be the will of God1 in line with the word of God and your life must be right with God. If yourlife is not right with God don)t try all these stuff.

As we work with angels two things our words and our attitude. 0ow our attitude is affected by whatwe believe. If you believe that somebody is dishonest your attitude is affected. +hat we believe affects ourattitude. If you believe the wrong theology1 your attitude is affected. ased on your belief your attitude isformed. Dechariah)s beliefs were wrong. 4o his attitude became an attitude of doubt. !he same way if youbelieve correctly according to the word of God1 it will help you to respond with the right attitude. And may wenot miss it when the angels come calling. 'ou don"t have to look for the angels. !hey don"t want muchattention. In fact they want you to give all your attention to 2esus and the #oly 4pirit. ut we need to knowhow they work and co-operate with them. 'ou don"t have to pray for an angel because satan can appear asan angel of light. And not everything that is bright and shinning that comes to you is God. +hat we need todo is to live your life according to God)s word1 be filled with the 4pirit1 walk the best you know in the will ofGod. #ave prayers so that God could initiate the work of angels. 4peak the right words in your life. #ave theright attitude. +hen they do come to you initiated by God open yourself to them. And God will begin to give

you the instruction.

2. SENSITIVITY TO ANGELS

As we look at the ministry of angels1 we want to point to two facts that we have to keep at the back ofour mind so that we don"t go to e&tremes. n one e&treme are those who don)t believe in the work of angelsand don)t understand how to work with them and don"t reali,e that there is a way that we can co-operate withthem. n the other e&treme are those who are so susceptible that they would be immediately deceived if

satan were to appear as an angel of light. 0ow not every being who comes in the light form is necessarilyfrom God. !hose who value angels above the importance of the word of God and their devotional prayer lifemay end up being deceived.

!here are two warnings in the bible that we need to take heed of. ne of them is found in the book

of Galatians in chapter one aul says here about the gospel of 2esus (hrist. Galatians : F but even ifangels from heaven #reach any other gos#els to you than what we have #reached to you let him beaccursed . 0umber one bear in mind that angels do not contradict God)s word. !hey cannot come and tell yousomething that is not in line with the word. And if any being or any appearances come that are not in line withthe +ord1 then we ought to re*ect them. And in point one we reali,e that it must be in line with the word ofGod. All visions1 prophecies1 dreams1 angelic appearances must be in line with the word of God.

4econdly in (olossians ?: F (et no one defraud you of your reward ta-ing delight in false humility

and worshi# of angels intruding into those things which he has not seen+ vainly #uffed u# by his fleshly mind .4econdly we do not worship angels and we do not give them the glorification that is due to 2esus (hrist andto God the $ather. +e *ust need to give the proper respect that we need to. +e do not give them praise andworship at all. !hat is the other e&treme that needs to be avoided. ear in mind these two points as we lookat the ministry of angels.

Angels co-operate and work with us and are dependent on our confession and on our prayers. urwords and confession in our prayer are related to work of angels in our life. #ow important it is to guard ourtongue. +e are looking at the different aspect on responding to angelic work and ministration. And I want to%uote again the testimony from 5enneth 9. #agin and his angelic visitation that he missed. Is it possible thatGod sent an angel and he missed it8 !he answer is yes. 4ome of us think that if God was to send an angelto send a word to us1 that we will definitely receive it. 0o. +e may miss it the same way we miss the #oly4pirit1 because the #oly 4pirit can be speaking to us and we are not paying attention. +e may miss it thesame way we miss the word. 2ust as the word is talking to us but we don"t pay attention to the word of God.4o likewise with the angels we can miss it too if we don"t learn how to open ourselves to it. +e need to beopened but not deceived. +e need to be opened but not be imbalanced. And so the ord 2esus appeared tohim together with the angel. And the ord 2esus said these words to 5enneth 9. #agin. !he ord said to him16I sent my angel to warn you again when you were out in (alifornia because I saw that you haven)t listenedto the leading of my 4pirit and didn)t respond to the warning. If you have received it you would have beenspared all of this financial troubles. If you had responded to the #oly 4pirit than you would have been able tosee into the spirit realm by the discerning of spirit you would have seen the angel and he would have

delivered his message to you.6

!hen he had another encounter with an angel which he recorded in the same book. #e says1 6ne

night as we were all interceding in prayer. I was kneeling on the platform and suddenly 2esus appearedbefore me. Again an angel stood about three feet behind him. !his angel was %uite tall. #e must have beenseven feet tall or more. 2esus began to talk to me about my ministry. 2ust a short time before this my wifehas written to me concerning my sister who was *ust been told by the doctor that she had cancer of thebladder. I have been praying for my sister interceding for her that night *ust before the ord appeared. #esaid your sister will live and not die. !here is no danger of immediate death. #e said that she will live anotherfive years and she did. +hen she died after five years e&actly1 she did not die from the condition at that time.#er death was caused by something else. After the ord told me that my sister will live <now here is theword= then every time I look up at the angel1 he looked at me as if he was going to say something. ut then I

would look back to 2esus and the angel wouldn)t say anything. $inally I said to the ord who is this angel andwhat does he represent. #e has a message for you the ord said.6 0ow 2esus was appearing in a vision.!hen he began to talk to the ord. 6ut ord you are here. +hy can)t you deliver the message86 After all Iwant it to be scriptural. !he #oly 4pirit is to be our guide. #e is the one that is to give us guidance as well as

Page 10: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

the word of God. 4o I said you know that I am a real sticker for the word.

2esus said to him1 63idn)t you ever read in the bible when an angel of the ord came and awakeneter when he was in *ail and in answer to prayer led him out of *ail8 !he angel of the ord appeared tohilip and gave him direction after the great city wide meeting in 4amaria telling him to go down by the wayof Ga,a. And there you will remember that the 9thiopian eunuch was converted to (hristianity and carried

the gospel back to 9thiopia. 3on)t you remember that the angel of the ord appeared to aul when he wason board the ship on his way to Rome to appeal his case before (aesar a storm had risen and all themerchandise had been thrown away in an attempt to save the vessel and the passengers. All hope that theyshould be saved was gone. aul stood and said I e&alt you to be of good cheer for there shall be no lost ofany man life among you but of the ship. $or there stood by me this night the angel of God saying fear notaul thou must be brought before (aesar and God have give me all of them that sail with you. And the ordsaid didn)t the angel give aul the direction. 3idn)t he have a message for aul8 !he ord reminded me ofthe time when aul was praying in the temple of 2erusalem and fell into a trance and saw 2esus who told himmake haste and get thee %uickly out of 2erusalem <Acts ??:F=. !hen after aul was arrested beforeappealing his case to (aesar the ord appeared to him one in 2erusalem and told him not to be afraid for hewas to bear witness before the kings and authorities. 4o we see that although 2esus had appeared to auland had given him word of comfort and direction1 the angel of the ord also appeared to him and given himdirection.6

y now 5enneth #agin was very %uiet. 4eeing this 5enneth #agin said to the ord1 60ow Iunderstand. !hen I look to the angel and said what is it that you have to say to me.6 And the angel said1 6Iam sent from God to tell you that the money will come by ctober and you will have four thousand dollars.4o you can set up your own office. ther money will come and you will handle it all yourself. I do not wantyou to be controlled by someone else. I will speak to you and direct you in your ministry. 'ou will be the headof it not someone else. 0ot only will you have this four thousand dollars in three months time. ut othermoney will come also for my angels are at work now to cause the money to come.6 5enneth #agin looked upat the angel and said1 6+hat do you mean your angels86 #e said1 6I am the head over a number of angels.6

!he ord had also pointed out the scripture1 are they not ministering s#irits sent forth to minister forthem who shall be heirs of salvation <#eb : E=. !he ord said you didn)t loose your angel *ust because yougrow up. 4o here is an interesting story about angels and what they do and how they work. 9very single oneof us was born with a guardian angel. !hey are not *ust fable or myth. +e do have our guardian angelincluding those who are not born again. 9very human being born into this planet earth was assigned aguardian angel. !hose guardian angels in the bible were called ministering angels. !hey minister to us. nthe top of that there are ministry angelsH there are angels over churches1 angels over nations etc. !here aremany divisions and orders of angels.

+hen God calls you to ministry1 #e usually assigns a ministry angel to work with you. In the book ofRevelation chapter two and three1 when God delivered the message to apostle 2ohn to deliver to #is body1#e addressed #is message to the angel of the church of 9phesus1 to the angel of the church of 4ardis and

etc. It is always addressed to the angel. +e have always interpreted it symbolically. +e always say the angelcould be the pastor of the church. !he angel could have been any messenger. I personally believe1 now it isscriptural1 I personally believe that it is an actual angel who carries the message for the church. And whenGod has a message for that particular church in 9phesus1 #e works through the #oly 4pirit. #e will workthrough the people there. #e also gives to the angel assigned there with some special message to deliver tothe church. And there is an angel over every church in town. !here is an angel that God assigns over everyministry. !hose are reality.

!he %uestion is how do we work with them8 I want to point to the fact that angels speak in the firstperson. !hey speak *ust like a person is prophesying1 6I the ord your God...6 !hat doesn)t mean that theperson had become God. It *ust means that the person has become the mouthpiece of God. 0ow angelsspeak in the same way. +hen 7oses met God in the wilderness1 he met an angel who had a message

about God)s name and who gave God)s instruction. 7oses worked with angels. 9&odus B: ?ff And the angelof the (ord a##eared to him in the flame of fire in the midst of a bush! 'o he loo-ed and behold the bushburning with fire but the bush was not consumed! Then Moses said+ ,& will now turn aside and see this great

Page 11: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

8/12/2019 Working With Angels by Peter Tan

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/working-with-angels-by-peter-tan 11/31

sight why this bush does not burn!, 'o when the (ord saw that he turned aside the (ord called to him fromthe midst of the bush and said+ ,Moses+ Moses+, and he said+ ,*ere & am!,

0ow suddenly it looks like God is speaking. It looks like God is in the bush. et me tell you God wasnot in the bush. An angel representing God was in the bush. 0ow the bible has a way of recording things likethat. It looks like God was saying it directly. God was saying it indirectly through the angel. And we know the

amount of revelation given was tremendous. God revealed #is name as & am the & Am. (ross reference tothe book of Galatians B: >. !here is a summary of the revelation that 7oses received at the burning bushwhere he met an angel of God. It was on the 7ount of 4inai that 7oses began to meet God face to face.Galatians B:> $hat #ur#ose then does the law serve &t was added because of transgressions till the 'eedto come to whom the #romise was made! And it was a##ointed  <notice this word= through angels by thehand of the mediator . 0ow the mediator was 7oses. It summari,ed the work of 7oses) primary interactionwith angels. 0ow you see God didn)t speak the messages #imself but assigned an angel to deliver them issuch a way that it appeared that #e #imself is speaking. !hat is the way the bible records things.

$or e&ample 7oses didn)t actually talk directly haraoh. ut you find that in the bible thearrangement was this between 7oses and his brother Aaron. !his was the arrangement in 9&odus E: 1 @.ow you shall s#ea- to him <that is Aaron= and #ut the words in his mouth and & will be with your mouth and

with his mouth and & will teach you what you shall do! 'o he shall be your s#o-esman to the #eo#le! And hehimself shall be as a mouth for you! And you shall be to him as God! 4o Aaron was a spokesman. +hatever7oses wants to say he *ust tells Aaron who would deliver the message for him. And while they wereencountering haraoh 7oses was *ust standing not saying anything. Aaron was the one who was sayingeverything. ut you read in the encounter between 7oses and haraoh it looks like 7oses was the onedoing the talking. 7oses said etc. etc. there were many of such incidents. ut it was more Aaron doing thetalking.

!urn to 9&odus @: ?>-B; and : The (ord s#o-e to Moses saying & am the (ord! '#ea- to haraoh-ing of gy#t all that & say to you! And Moses again said & s#ea- with faltering li#s how shall haraoh believein me! 'o the (ord said to Moses see & have made you as God to haraoh and Aaron your brother shall beyour #ro#het! 7ou shall s#ea- all that & have commanded and Aaron your brother shall s#ea- to haraoh thathe set the children of &srael out of this land! 0ow in all the encounter it looks like 7oses was talking directlyto haraoh but it was not. It was through Aaron. Aaron was an invisible medium.

!his is the way God does it. +hen an angel comes1 he speaks in the first person. It)s like aprophecy. !he prophet of God or someone functioning to give a prophecy don)t say1 6!he ord says...64ometimes they do say that but sometimes they begin to speak in the first person1 6I am the ord yourGod...6 0ow they are not saying that they have become God. ut they have become the mouthpieces ofGod. +e need to bear that in mind as we function and work with angels that when they bear a message1they bring that message in the first person.

et me point to the relationship between an angel bearing a message and a prophet bearing amessage. !here are a lot of similarities that we need to take note of. 3euteronomy F: ff And the (ordsaid to me+ ,$hat they have s#o-en is good! & will raise u# for them a #ro#het li-e you from among theirbrethren and will #ut my words in his mouth!,  <0ow this is a prophecy about 2esus (hrist. 'ou find it fulfilledin the book of Acts. And this same scripture is %uoted in the book of Acts.= & will #ut my words in his mouthand he shall s#ea- to them all that & have commanded him! And it shall be that whoever will not hear mywords which he s#ea-s in my name & will re%uire it of him! 0ut the #ro#het who s#ea-s in my name in which &have not commanded him to s#ea- or he s#ea-s in the name of other gods that #ro#het shall die!  0ow inverse F it says that we have to hearken to the prophet as he speaks in the name of God and he speaks asa mouthpiece of God. !he 0ew !estament did say that when you receive a prophet as a prophet you receivea prophet)s reward. +hen you re*ect a prophet as a prophet you receive God)s *udgment and punishment forre*ecting the prophet of God. It)s important for us to understand the conse%uences of re*ecting a messengerfrom God. 2esus when he sent his disciples two by two to every city1 #e tells them that those who receive

them receive #im. !hose who re*ect them re*ect #im. 6!hey don)t re*ect you. !hey re*ect 7e because you arenow representing 7e.6 4o that is happening in the church age.

0ow that also applies to the angels that God sends to work in our midst. ook at the book of 9&odus?B !here is also *udgment for not paying attention to the message the angel brings. 7ost of the messagescome from the #oly 4pirit. ut there are some messages that are reserved to be delivered by the angels toour lives. 9&odus ?B: ?; as #e prepares them to cross the land of (anaan1 #e says1 ,0ehold & sent an Angelbefore you+ to -ee# you in the way and to bring you into the #lace which & have #re#ared! 0eware of *im<God was warning them. 'ou must be very careful how you treat this angel= and obey *is voice! :o not #rovo-e *im for *e will not #ardon your transgressions+ for My name is in *im! 0ut if you indeed obey his

voice and do all that & s#ea-+ then & will be an enemy to your enemies+ an adversary to your adversaries! Formy Angel will go before you and bring you in to the Amorites and the *ittites and the eri;;ites and theanaaniters and the *ivites and the )ebusites and & will cut them off!

+hy should God warn them about the angel8 #e must have been a very special angel sent into theirmidst. !here are different authorities that angels carry. !here is a group that is ministering angels. +e willlook a little bit more at them later in this series. ut we need to understand that there is one level of angelswho are guardian angels and ministering angels who know our lives from babies. $rom the time we werebabies they were with us and they will continue to be with us until we go back to be with God. ut as weac%uire different responsibilities and different work from God1 different angels are assigned to work togetherwith us.

$or e&ample1 let says this church. !here is an angel assigned over this church. And I will have to besensitive to the angel whom God sends in our midst to work in this church. !here is an angel assigned to aministry. If God calls you to a ministry1 #e will assign an angel to your ministry to help you1 besides givingyou the #oly 4pirit. And you need to learn to work with your angel. If these things were automatic why shouldGod tell them to beware of the angel and to hearken to his voice8 bviously there is a human responsibilityin how we respond to them. And obviously if we don)t respond to them as we saw some of the incidenceshere in #agin)s visions1 if he didn)t respond to them he would have missed the whole message and got intotrouble. It is interesting that we need to respond when God wants to give a message through the angel. Andthat is the part and the reason for this series. ecause as I have said God has an angelic visitation onministries and our lives are being built around that besides the #oly 4pirit work.

ne of the messages that God gave me to teach this series says that #e had sent #is angels <#e

didn)t specify which part probably different category= to speak to some of us. And we are not responding tothem nor are we yielding to the #oly 4pirit or opening ourselves to them1 we could be missing some of ourgreatest opportunities to receive some of God)s best plans for our lives. And that is the reason why we teachthis series in order to teach us how to respond and how to recogni,e the work of angels and the messagesthat they carry and what they are trying to do in our life.

0ow we know the word of God. +e know the #oly 4pirit but we know there is as part of our life thatbelongs to the angels who work with us and are working to establish us in different areas. +e need torecogni,e that and open ourselves to that for them to have a freedom to work with us. And we will summari, ethat in a few points in how to respond to the work of the angels. ear in mind that you cannot make them to

appear to you or speak to you whenever you like. It has to be in God)s perfect will. And they will not obey ourwhims and fancies. ut when you are living in the perfect will of God1 the #oly 4pirit can come upon your lifeand you can begin to speak God)s word with an anointing and it will cause an angelic initiation in your life.+e want to talk about the fact that when God began to move by #is angels in our life1 or when an angelcomes and brings a message for us to hearken1 they are usually supplementing the work of the #oly 4pirit. Angels never replace the work of the #oly 4pirit. !he prime work that God does in our lives is through the#oly 4pirit. !hey supplement the work of the #oly 4pirit. +e need that as humans because we tend not toobey at the first prompting. It takes time to train us to obey #is every prompting. And so #e supplements itwith the work of angels. And when the angels have a message for us1 it is not necessary that you will seethem. 4ome of us could be missing it if we are not trained in this area. And that is why we are teaching in thisarea.

+hen there is an angelic visitation1 how do we respond8 r when we sense that it was an angelic

visitation1 how do we respond8 Remember the first two points that we raised earlier. It must be in line withthe word and you don)t worship angels. !hey have their place and you don)t go to that e&treme. 4o how do

Page 13: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

we respond8

Acknowledge te Angel!" #$e"ence

0umber one to acknowledge their presence. +hen you re*ect their presence1 they will not give youany other message. If you doubt their presence it also prevents them from giving you the message. A lot ofpeople are doubters when it comes to the spiritual realm. It is every much like the #oly 4pirit. +hen the #oly4pirit gives you a gift and you doubt the gift1 the gift becomes inoperational in your life. It doesn)t matter whatkind of gift. ut if the #oly 4pirit gives you something in your life and you start doubting it1 it will grieve the#oly 4pirit and it will cease working in your life in those areas. ut if we recogni,e that those are gifts givenby the #oly 4pirit1 you honor what the #oly 4pirit gives you. And you put it in its proper place. !hen the #oly4pirit will make use of it more fre%uently and teach you how to operate those gifts more accurately.

!he angels want you to recogni,e them. 0umber one1 acknowledge your angel. ut you may say16#ow do I know if it is not the devil86 asically you will know by the presence. If you can)t tell by the presencethen probably it is not time yet for a real visitation. ecause if the devil comes there will be a sense of eviland a sense of fear and there is a lack of the presence of God. If the presence of fear is not there1 and youfelt the presence of God there1 the love of God is there1 the *oy of God is there1 the #oly 4pirit within you

confirms and you still say1 6+ho are you86 It will be no wonder that the angel doesn)t want to work anddoesn)t want to give the message. It re%uires faith on your part for the angels to work. nce you work withthem for a while1 they know you are confident of their work and they know you recogni,e them.

+e need to number one acknowledge them1 acknowledge who they are. +hat does thatacknowledging the angels imply 9&odus B: ? The angel of the (ord a##eared to him in a flame of fire in themidst of the bush! 'o he loo-ed and behold the bush burn with fire and the bush was not consumed! ThenMoses said & will now turn aside and see this great sight why the bush does not burn! 0ow it includes turningaway from natural things. #e turned aside from what he was doing to see this bush burning. Acknowledgingthe angel)s presence involves giving him your full attention. !urning aside from whatever that is taking yourattention and giving it your full attention. !here is a spiritual law called the law of focusing. ike when youlook at something it becomes more detailed. It)s *ust like you could be passing a lot of scenery and you are

not really paying any attention. ut then when you focus on this plant and you began to see its condition1 youbegin to pay attention. It is the principle of focusing. And when you don)t put aside those things and focus onwhat God is bringing to your attention you may loose it. 4ometimes it is *ust a telephone ringing. !here is nomessage yet but the telephone is ringing. 'ou got to pick it up. 'ou got to pay attention and focus. icking itup is like paying attention to those things. 4ometimes in the spirit world you could be praying. And as you arepraying your attention is drawn towards something. 'our mind and your will have a free choice. 'ou couldchoose not to be drawn towards that. !he bush could be burning and you could choose not to be drawntowards that. 'ou may loose it. #e wants you to turn aside and focus you attention on that something #e hasdrawn you to. !here is something that catches our attention first and we need to focus on this thing. 'ouacknowledge by turning aside and paying attention to whatever is catching your mind. And God gives you afree choice. 'ou want to take this call. If you respond then #e would respond.

0ow how did 7oses respond8 As he drew near to the burning bush1 the ord called out from theburning bush1 67oses1 7oses.6 After that there are many responses possible. ne of the possible responsesis to run. !o some of you as you walk by a tree and the tree call you1 you may wonder1 6+ho was that86 'oumay respond differently. 'ou could run away or you could find out what is that. 4omehow 7oses responded16#ere I am.6 #e doesn)t even know who is there. ut whoever that was knew him. If you walk by a bush andthe bush called you by name my advice is to go near and find out. 4ay1 6'es here I am.6 ecause how manypeople know your personal name. 4ome may think it might be the devil hiding behind the bush trying to trapyou. +hy should the devil trap you8 If you hear your name being called it is always that whoever call you byname knows you. If you are in a supermarket and some stranger calls you1 you don)t challenge them1 yourespond. 'et because they are invisible we don)t respond the same way. If a human being call you by nameyou don)t challenge them first1 you respond first to find out. In the same you should give them the samerespect when they call you by name. 3on)t be afraid if you go near and find it is a devil. oint your finger at

him and say1 In 2esus) 0ame1 I command you1 devil1 come out and do not disturb people.6

ut usually it is the manifestation of God in your life. And our response should be: 6#ere I am.6 !he

Page 14: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

angel may not make himself visible to our eyes. All we may receive is an audible call. If anybody calls you byyour name better acknowledge that and find out what is that. And 7oses said in 9&odus B !he voice in thebush says 7oses1 7oses1 he said here I am. 0ow he is waiting for 7oses to respond.

!here is another case I the bible in the book of $irst 4amuel. God calling 4amuel and he didn)t

recogni,e that it was God and there was no continuation until he recogni,ed. $irst 4amuel B: E 4amuel was

sleeping. In verse four the ord called 4amuel and 4amuel thought it was 9li. And he went to 9li and saidwhy do you call me. And 9li said I didn)t call you1 go back to sleep. !hen verse si& the ord called again. And4amuel went to 9li and said you called me. #e said I did not call my son lay down. !hen the ord called thethird time. Again he went to 9li and said what do you want. And he didn)t reali,e that the ord was trying tocall him. And the ne&t time you must acknowledge the ord. !he ne&t time when #e calls you1 you must say164peak1 ord for your servant is here. #ere I am what do you wish to speak to me86

If you take the position of pride1 the angels do not like that. !hey have their place. And some of usmay say1 6+e are born again1 the redeemed of the ord.6 ook at it this way1 even if you are born againredeemed of the ord1 anyone small or big1 rich or poor who comes with a message from God1 we wouldhave to listen. +hether we are senior pastors1 whether we have a title before our names1 if anyone comes1even if a young boy prophesies1 if it is the ord1 we got to recogni,e that is the ord speaking. +e don)t

approach the angel arrogantly and say1 'es what do you want to speak8 r what do you want to give86 +edon)t approach them that way.

0ow don)t treat your angels that way. !oo many of us have the teaching until it is so imbalanced1

that we know our position in God so well and have been blessed with the lood covenant in a different wayfrom them that we put the angels so low1 even though they have great authority and great might and power.ut when they carry the message of God1 they are coming in the place of God. If you re*ect them you re*ectGod. If you despise them you despise God. 'ou put them down on them you put God down. #e is using theangels as #is vessels. 3on)t treat them that way. Acknowledging them means to turn aside from everythingelse to give them undivided attention. +e respond to angels with our lips and with our hearts and saying16#ere I am.6 0ot in a %uestioning way but in receptive way which involves a submissive position.

3o we have to take submissive position8 'es we do. 9ven among human beings1 when people carrythe word of the ord we respect them. In the same way in 9&odus ?B points to the angel warning again.9&odus ?B: ? 0eware of him and obey his voice! do not #rovo-e him for he will not #ardon yourtransgression for my name is in him! #e is talking about a very powerful angel. !hat is a warning aboutobeying the angel)s voice and instructions. 0ow in what position did 2oshua take when he saw his angel8 Inthe book of 2oshua : B- And it came to #ass+ when )oshua was near )ericho+ that he lifted his eyes andhe loo-ed+ and behold+ a Man stood o##osite him with *is sword drawn in *is hand! And )oshua went to*im and said to *im+ ,Are you for us or for our adversaries 'o *e said+ ,o+ but as ommander of thearmy of the (ord & have now come! &mmediately )oshua fell on his face to the earth and worshi##ed!  <0owalthough it said worshipped1 he didn)t worship the angelH he was worshiping God.=  And said to *im+ ,$hatdoes my (ord say to *is servant, Then the ommander of the (ord6s army said to )oshua+ ,Ta-e your

sandal off your foot+ for the #lace where you stand is holy!, And )oshua did so! ook he takes a submissiveposition. Although 2oshua was now the head of his people replacing 7oses1 we need to have a healthyrespect and healthy working relationship with the angel. et them take their place when they are bringingforth the word from the ord. 'ou always take a position of submission. +hen +illiam ranham worked withhis angel1 he took a position of submission. In the end there was co-operation. +e can be friendly but wemust know where each person)s place is.

9ven 3avid understood the place that the angels have in his life. In the book of $irst (hronicles ?:

-@ And God send an angel to )erusalem to destroy it! As he was destroying+ the (ord loo-ed and relentedof the disaster and said to the angel who was destroying+ ,&t is enough> now restrain your hand!, And theangel of the (ord stood by the threshing floor of "rnan the )ebusite! Then :avid lifted his eyes and saw the

angel of the (ord standing between earth and heaven+ having in his hand a drawn sword stretched out over)erusalem! 'o :avid and the elders+ clothed in sac-cloth+ fell on their faces!  3avid was a powerful militaryleader and king. +hen he saw the angel of the ord he fell down on his face. Acknowledge means to turnaside1 to respond and to submit to the message. And that is our relationship when angels carry a message of

God.

!hat is why I have to mention the first two points earlier. !here is a relationship we have but we don)tgo to worship angels. And that e&plains why when God send some of #is angels to give us a message wedon)t receive it. +e doubt1 we %uestion1 we are in unbelief. And the angels find it very hard to communicateto us. +e need to have a vital living relationship with these spirit beings whom God has assigned to work

together with us. 0umber one acknowledge1 three sub-points there1 turn aside1 respond and submit.

 Y%eld%ng to te Hol& S'%$%t

!he second is to yield to the #oly 4pirit. !he reason for this is angels and you are communicating

through the person of the #oly 4pirit. !here is no contact possible in the spirit world without the #oly 4pirit.4o at the same time in our life we must be yielding to the 4pirit and learn how to yield to the 4pirit. !here is away we yield to the 4pirit of God.

ets look at 9phesians talking about the filling of the 4pirit or the 4pirit controlling our life.9phesians : F-> :o not be drun- with wine in which is dissi#ation> but be filled with the '#irit+ s#ea-ing to

one another in #salms+ hymns+ and s#iritual songs+ singing and ma-ing melody in your heart to the (ord+giving than-s always for all things to God the Father in the name of our (ord )esus hrist!  0otice how heconfessed being filled with the 4pirit as being drunk. !here is a relationship there. 4ee when someone isdrunk1 into&icated by natural wine1 they don)t walk in a straight line. And people who are partially drunk tendto yield to a lot of their temptations because their resistance has been lowered down. +ine lowers aperson)s resistance. And we need to reali,e the effects of alcohol on people.

0ow I want to illustrate it in a specific way. +hen we yield to the 4pirit of God1 we allow #im to takecontrol and help us to flow. 4ome who worship God allow their hands to flow in various ways. +hat are theydoing8 'ou are yielding to the 4pirit as you sense it. And you learn how to yield to #im. 'ou learn how to flowwith #im. And sometimes in our life as we worship God there is a desire to do certain things. 4ometimes

when there is such a good *oy and you really want to lift the *oy and dance1 why don)t you8 'ou didn)t yield.'ou say if God want me to dance #e will lift my feet. Really8 If God wants you to speak in tongues1 #e willmove your tongue then1 which #e doesn)t. #e will only intensify the desire and the longing to do it and the *oyto do it. And the moment you yield it is easy. 4o that is the way that you yield to the 4pirit of God. I don)tmean that you make it up. It has to be real from inside. 'et at the same time it won)t come out until we yield. It is the same with laughter. 4ometimes people laugh because others laugh. aughter is contagious.4ometimes it is from the inside wanting to come out1 and then you try to prevent it. +hen you do you makemore funny faces. It)s better to let go and *ust en*oy it. !he problem is when you let go you can become a bitdrunk. 4ometimes you when you pray when there is a heavy anointing of God1 you could feel like your legsvibrating and your hands shaking. +hen there is a real heavy anointing of God sometimes you could feelthose things coming up. 'our voice goes up and down accordingly. And your feeling goes up and downaccordingly. And your hands and body vibrate as you pray in the spirit. !hat is a part of yielding to the 4piritof God. 4o we learn how to yield to the 4pirit of God. +e learn how to give way.

It)s like a surrendered stage. It is not a passive state of mind. It is a very active state of mind when it

is surrendered. If you don)t pray in tongue long enough your mind takes over. If you pray in tongue in longhours you find your whole body began to respond. !hese are ways that you are filling yourself and yielding tothe 4pirit. et #im flow through to do whatever #e wants in your life. aul says do not be drunk with wine1natural wine1 but be drunk in the #oly 4pirit. And a lot of us are not drunk enough in the #oly 4pirit. +e aretoo rational. +e allow the #oly 4pirit to control up to a certain point. !hen my mind wants to be in absolutecontrol. ur minds have never brought us closer to God before and it never will after. ur mind is only aninstrument for us to submit to the 4pirit for understanding to come. +e have never come to know Godbecause of our minds. +e came to know God because of the e&perience of 2esus (hrist in our life. And wewill never go closer to God *ust through our minds. It will be through the 4pirit filling us and renewing ourmind. 4o be drunk with the 4pirit. And it is those who are filled with the 4pirit that respond to the spirit world

easier when God manifest. aul says be drunk with the 4pirit. #e says yield to the 4pirit of GodH allow #im tofill your life. !he angels you acknowledge but you need to yield to the 4pirit of God.

Page 16: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

'ielding has various %ualities. 0umber one filling and drunkenness. A sense of surrender to himwhatever sub*ective feelings those are. If you are one of those when you pray your mind think too much yourmind is not submitted yet. 'ou see your mind will hinder what the angel speaks if your mind is not submitted.+hen the angel has a message your mind is too %uestioning and critical. !he angel knows it and he wouldnot give that message. 4o that is why we need to be completely submerged in the 4pirit and let our mind issubmissive.

+hen you pray in tongue1 the first few minutes your mind may tell you a lot of things. 'ou keep onpraying until your mind is %uiet. !hat is the state where the feeling or drunkenness in the 4pirit is takingplace. !he second is the consciousness of the presence of God. As you meditate on the presence of God onyour inside1 the anointing in you responds. et me point to uke ?E. 4ee when the angel is speaking it is not *ust an e&ternal message. 'our inward witness will confirm everything that God does. And we have to besensitive to our inward witness in our life. uke ?E !he two disciples on the way to 9mmaus. !hey were with2esus all along the way. Although they didn)t recogni,e #im because their eyes were closed to it1 later theydid recogni,e that it was 2esus and #e vanished from their sight <verse thirty one=. In uke ?E: B? They saidto one another+ ,:id not our hearts burn within us while *e tal-ed with us on the road+ and while *e o#enedthe 'cri#tures to us, 3id not our hearts burn within us8 0ow that ties you to $irst 2ohn ?: ? 0ut theanointing which you have received from *im abides in you+ and you do not need that anyone teach you> butas the same anointing teaches you concerning all things+ that is true+ and is not a lie+ 3ust as it has taught

you+ you will abide in *im!

4o there is a consciousness of God that you yield to. And every time you yield to the presence of

God on your inside and you meditate1 it has an effect on your physical body and of your mind. In whateverway it flows in your life1 *ust let it flow. $or some of you your hands began to feel warm. And we (hristiansneed to learn to yield to the presence of God from our inside. 4ome of you have sickness on your body thatyou have been praying for. And you have been trying to get healing. If you only reali,e that the key is not astruggle but rest in God and *ust allow the 4pirit from your inside to reach out and touch you1 you will get yourhealing. It is more a yielding than a grabbing. +hen you are yielding1 you are not trying to see some angels.'ou are *ust yielding to your anointing within. And it takes you wherever it wants. !here is a consciousness ofthe presence of God on your inside.

#$(%"e (nd Wo$"%' And thirdly1 we offer the sacrifices of praise. +e need to worship. In the ld !estament they had to

give the sacrifices and that enhance the work of the angels in their lives. In the 0ew !estament our sacrificesare the sacrifices of our lips and of our worship to God. 4o when the angel of God is visiting you and givingyou a message1 you need to be in an attitude of praise and worship to God. !he consciousness of thepresence of God is on your inside so that the gifts of the 4pirit can work in your life. And one of the gifts is thediscerning of the spirits. If God sees it fit #e will let it operate through your life.

0umber one1 acknowledge the angels presence. 0umber two1 yield to the #oly 4pirit. And there arethree sub-points we talked about yielding to the #oly 4pirit. And all those things will bring you to a readinessfor the angels to work a message especially for your life. ike 7ary she says be unto me according to your

word. 4he took that submissive position. ook at uke : B;-B :o not be afraid Mary for you have foundfavour with God! 0ehold+ you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a 'on which you shall call *is name)esus! *e will be great+ and will be called the 'on of the *ighest> and the (ord God will give *im the throneof *is father :avid! And *e will reign over the house of )acob forever+ and of *is -ingdom there will be noend! 0ut Mary said to the angel+ ,*ow can this be+ since & do not -now a man The angel answered and saidto her+ ,The *oly '#irit will come u#on you+ and the #ower of the *ighest will overshadow you> therefore+also+ that the *oly "ne who is to be born will be called the 'on of God . !o summari,e the attitude of 7ary1 itwas about the yielding to the #oly 4pirit. If you struggle to get a message you don)t get it. ut if you rest inGod and you worship God the message *ust sort of float to you. 4o that is the same position you must be in.0ot a position of struggle but a position of rest. And you will very easily receive the message that the angeldelivers.

). THREE KEY #RIN*I#LES

!here are three points on angels that we want to speak about. As we look at this topic we want tomake it very clear that it is not right to try to see angels. 0ow it will not happen that way. Although we teach aseries on angels which produces a desire to understand them better but to have visions of them must beaccording to God)s perfect will. 4ometimes it is not necessary that we ever see one. ut we must be aware

that we are working with the angels in our life. And we want to make this statement that it is not right for us totry to see them.

In fact in the spirit world there is a strange law. +hatever you try to do or to get you will neversucceed. !he spirit world works more by yielding than by trying. And every time you try too hard you won)tsucceed. In the spirit world it is more achieved by yielding and receiving rather than trying and grabbing. Andif it is not God)s will for us to have a manifestation1 ten let)s not force God)s hand. 4o I want to be very carefulto make it clear that we do not try to see angels. +e don)t seek after an angel at all. 'ou *ust live in God)sperfect will and do your best that you know how to do whatever God)s will is in your life and leave it up toGod. And be aware of how to work with angels that)s all.

+hat we are going to share in these three points is the pre-re%uisites to angels manifesting to someof these people. +hat were their positions like8 +hat were they doing8 +e know that God sometimesmanifest in a big prayer meeting or in a big worship service. +e know that #e is not limited to that. +hen weare doing God)s perfect will we could be doing anything and suddenly God will send an angel or somespiritual manifestation to our life1 because we are in God)s perfect will. +e want to look at some (hristians)lives and show forth from their lives what they were doing and where they were when the angels came tominister to their life. +e have to treat the ministry of angels as a bonus. 0ot something you seek for. !heywill work any way whether you know it or not. ut treat it as a bonus. +hen you go for a *ob. 'ou don)tconsider the bonus. 'ou consider the actual *ob itself. +hat are you supposed to do and what is the basicsalary etc. !he bonus may be considered but it is not your main consideration. 'ou don"t take a *ob becauseof the bonus. !here has to be a lot of other factors involved. In the same way treat the ministry of angels asan e&tra bonus that God has given for this life on earth. +e have to seek after God1 the word of God1 the

ord 2esus (hrist1 the #oly 4pirit etc. these are our main call.

Seek%ng God +o$ ( Re,el(t%on

!he first point the correct position to be when the angels minister to our life is1 number one1 to seekGod for an understanding or a revelation. 7any of us have got visions that we don"t understand. 3reams thatwe couldn"t interpret. Revelations that we couldn)t fully digest. rophecies that we couldn"t make head or tail.7any of us have all those things. hanging somewhere in our dairies1 in our devotional book1 in our file1somewhere are some of these things. !he interesting thing is 3aniel has all those things but he went onestep further. #e sought God for an understanding of his vision1 of his dreams1 of the prophecies. #e was aseeker. Angels love to work with seekers after truth1 people who are hungry for more of God. 0ow many ofus have some dreams1 some prophecies1 some vision1 some revelations that we don"t fully understand piled

up somewhere in our files on our shelf. ut we never bother to take the time to seek God about it. +e nevertook one day off to fast and pray over those things. +e never spend time over those. +e are too busy. Andwe may take the attitudeH they are the e&treme attitude1 while if those things are from God they will come topass by themselves. 'es to a certain e&tent. ut when you work with God for long1 you will reali,e everythingis a union with God. !here are something that are done on God)s part and there are something that needs tobe done on our part. And if you go on for the ne&t five years or the ne&t ten years not seeking God aboutsome of these things1 you will find that after five or ten years you are still in the same position where youwere. God likes people of initiative. God likes people to take initiative to love #im1 to seek #im. And 3anielwas such a person.

et)s look at the book of 3aniel. !he book of 3aniel is divided into two sections. !he first section iscalled the historical section from chapter one to si&. !he second section is from chapter seven to chapter

twelve1 which are all prophecies and visions and revelations. 4o on one side is history and on other side isrevelation. And it seems that in 3aniel)s life that he had his first few visions in the latter days of his life. #isfirst one is mentioned in 3aniel : . &n the first year of 0elsha;;ar -ing of 0abylon1 now that was in his latteryears. #e was an old man by that time. e patient with God1 don"t be impatient with yourself or with God.

3aniel was faithful to the word of God1 faithful in prayer. !hree times a day he prayed all his life. e faithful inwhat God is doing in your life. 0ever get impatient. And as we patiently seek after God one day those thingswill begin to work out in God)s perfect time. 4o 3aniel had a dream and vision on his head while on his bed.!hen he wrote down the dream telling the main fact. $rom verse two to verse fourteen was a description of it.It is one of the many visions and dreams he had. 3aniel : &+ :aniel+ was grieved in my s#irit within mybody and the visions of my head troubled me! +e are not sure whether he was still in the vision and then hecame to these people whom he saw in the vision and ask them some %uestions1 or whether it was some

days later that he had a vision and then he asked these people. ut the fact in verse fifteen that he wasgrieved in his spirit within his body and the visions of his head troubled him seems to imply that he had themsometime before. And there was a time gap for may be several days. ut what was happening to 3aniel.3aniel sought to understand. #e didn"t *ust ask people to interpret. #e didn"t *ust look for counsel. 4eekingcounsel is good for in the multitude of counselors there is safety. ut many times we seek after everyonee&cept God. +e seek after every manifestation e&cept God. +e need to learn how to seek God personally1individually on our knees. And 3aniel must have been seeking after God for an understanding.

4eek to understand that is point one. +hen you seek to understand whatever God has given youwhich could be a vision1 dream1 prophecy1 you do encourage the ministry of angels to work in your life. +hatwould have happened if 3aniel didn"t seek the angel8 It would be what I called the normal ministry. !herewould be no e&tra special ministry of the angels in his life. ecause he sought God the angels interpreted for

him some of his dreams in verse si&teen onwards. !hen in 3aniel F: here is another vision. &n the thirdyear of the reign of -ing 0eelsha;;ar+ a vision a##eared to me . And he described the vision in detail. And thistime it is very clear in chapter eight that there was a time gap. It was only implied in chapter seven but now inchapter eight it was very clear. 3aniel F: ow it ha##ened when & :aniel had seen that vision. 0ow manyof us stop at that part. 7aybe ours is a different thing. +e have heard the prophecy. r we have dreamt adream or we have received a revelation that we couldn"t fully understand. +e stop at that point. +e neverwent further. +e kept it in our diaries or on our shelf. Remember God loves seekers. And we need to takethe initiative to seek after God.

Remember the parables that 2esus told. A ma*or portion of #is sermons was in parables. #e wouldpreach to the multitudes and #e would tell one parable after another. And the disciples of 2esus came to #imand said asked #im why does #e speak in parables. !he reason they ask #im is because when #e speaks

to the disciples #e doesn"t speak in parables. ut when #e is preaching in public #e speaks in parables. And2esus made a profound statement that is found in the gospel: to you it is given to understand this mysterybut to other it is not given+ that hearing they may not hear+ seeing they may not see! +hen you look at it1 it isvery strange. +hy did the ord make it difficult8 If you study it the purpose of the parable was *ust thetelephone ringing for them to pick it up. It was *ust like the burning bush burning for them to come nearer. #egave them a little bit and see how they react to the parable so that the parables will separate the hungry fromthose not hungry for God. 2esus said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for theyshall be filled. Implying that those who are not hungry and thirsty for #im will never receive #is ministry. 9venif 2esus were to come this year and appear somewhere1 do you know it would still be only those hungry andthirsty for God who would go to #im8 And there will be people who will be too busy for #im. 9ven in 0oah)stime people were buying and selling and giving in marriage and involved in all kinds of activity. 2esus)parables was to separate those who are hungry for more of God from those who are not hungry. Although #echose twelve apostles there were a whole group of people who followed #im because they were hungry for

God. #e wants to minister only to those who are hungry for God. 4o to the multitude some who arespectators1 some who came were out of curiosity1 some who are there *ust to watch and see1 some who aretrying to check on #im like the harisees. 2esus wanted to separate them out from those who are hungry.

And here we see in the bible that principle is true in 3aniel)s time. +henever God gives you aprophecy it is not *ust to keep on the shelf. 0ow everything will be revealed in #is time. !here is somethingthat cannot be revealed until its time. 9ven if you ask an e&pert1 they can try to decipher and interpret but itwill never really be revealed. Remember towards the end of the book of 3aniel1 3aniel had some specialvisions and revelations. And he wanted to understand them. And the angel told him these things are shut upuntil the future. In 3aniel F: & :aniel had seen a vision <It was in the past tense. #e had seen a vision. $orthose of us who had heard a prophecy or had dreamt a dream or revelation shouldn)t stop there.=  And was

see-ing  <God loves seekers= the meaning . 0ow what happens if he did not seek for the meaning8 0othingwould have happened. 7aybe that is the story of our life. +e have received something. 7aybe God hasgiven us a dream1 or a vision of your life1 of your profession1 of your ministry. !hat is our destiny. +e shouldbe seeking God to reveal more understanding of this.

Remember when 2oseph had a dream1 the dream showed him his destiny. God may have given you

the revelation of your destiny in one prophecy1 in one vision1 in one dream. 'ou are like 2oseph the dreamer.!hat one dream covers your destiny. 'ou could have thousands of revelation but that one dream that youhad was like the 2oseph)s two dreams that cover the destiny of his life. +hat are you going to do about that84eek God for its meaning. 4eek God for its fulfillment. 3on"t *ust leave it there. ike 3aniel seek God tounderstand its meaning. +hen you understand its meaning1 you will know how to flow with what God is tryingto direct your life with.

As 3aniel sought for the meaning1 there suddenly came one having the appearance of a man. It wasan angel. ook at why the angel came in verse nineteen. 'ou see you can enhance the ministry of angels toyour life. 'ou can increase their ability to minister to your life. 0ot *ust the normal way but special way. 3anielF: > & am ma-ing -nown to you what shall ha##en in the latter time of the indignation> for at the a##ointedtime the end shall be! !he whole purpose of the angel ministry to him was because 3aniel sought for themeaning. 4ome of us read the book of 3aniel and we think that it was God who sent the angel to him. If3aniel was not a seeker after God for its meaning1 some of those angelic visitation and interpretation wouldnot have taken place. 3efinitely there is a possibility that 3aniel chapter seven would not have taken place. Itwould be *ust as a dream that)s all. It is implied that he sought God for the vision. In chapter eight the angelic

visitation would not have taken place and all he would have was a funny dream. #e would not have anangelic visitation if he did not seek God for its meaning.

3aniel >: ?;-?? ow while & was s#ea-ing+ #raying and confessing my sin and the sin of my #eo#le&srael+ and #resenting my su##lication before the (ord my God for the holy mountain of my God+ yes while &was s#ea-ing in #rayer+ the man Gabriel+ whom & have seen in the vision at the beginning+ being caused tofly swiftly+ reached me about the time of the evening offering . And he informed me+ and tal-ed with me+ andsaid  <look at Gabriel)s words to 3aniel=1 ," :aniel+ & have now come forth to give you s-ill to understand! 'oumust be a seeker after God. In verse twenty three at the beginning of his prayer God has already startedinitiating. 0ow what was interesting is 3aniel >: ? &n the first year of his reign & :aniel understood by theboo-s the number of the years s#ecified by the word of the (ord given through )eremiah the #ro#het+ that hewould accom#lish seventy years in the desolations of )erusalem! Then & set my face towards the (ord God

to ma-e re%uest by #rayer and su##lications with fasting+ sac-2cloth and ashes! !he most interesting thingwas that 3aniel was seeking God because of the bible reading that he read in the scroll of 2eremiah that hepartially understood and he thought that he fully understood. And because of the revelation of 2eremiah fromthe word of God1 he sought after God. 3aniel was a seeker after God. And because he sought after God1 theord granted him to understand all that he could understand according to his time in history. 0ow we all don"tunderstand everything perfectly. +e understand a little bit at a time. +hen 3aniel read the book of 2eremiahwhich was already written in his time and saw the prophecy of seventy years1 he understood that it shouldhave to pass. And he sought God for the meaning of the prophecy1 which according to his understanding1should have come to pass. As a result1 God sent Gabriel to tell 3aniel that it will come to pass but there ismore meaning than that. It also points to the coming of the 7essiah where the seventy years representseventy times seven years.

+hen we look at 3aniel > I would dare to say this fact: if 3aniel had not been a seeker after God for

the meaning of the bible1 the whole of 3aniel chapter nine would not have happened. 4o don)t ever sayangels will *ust move as they will. !here has to be some response from our part. And if 3aniel had not been aseeker after God and after truth1 the whole 3aniel chapter eight would not been written. +e would have twochapters short. I wonder whether in our life story1 some chapters have been cut short because we did nottake the initiative to seek God. As you can seek God about a vision or a dream1 don)t e&pect that God mustreply immediately. et God take #is time. ut for you1 you must set aside time to seek after those things tounderstand the visions and prophecies and their meaning and fulfillment.

In >> I started praying for God to give me an understanding of the book of Revelation since I knewthat the ody of (hrist needed to understand the book of Revelation before the last days come. It was only in

>F>- ten years later - that God started to make things clear to me. I believe God would not have revealed if Ihave not asked. Ask that your *oy may be full. Ask for what8 #e didn"t say *ust ask for a car or somethingnatural or carnal. Ask God for #is revelation1 #is truth1 #is visions and dreams of #is destiny in your life. AskGod for the revelation that is hidden in #is word that has special relevance to your life. And there are not

Page 20: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/working-with-angels-by-peter-tan 20/31

enough people doing that. 4ome of us are not people who are very visual. ut we are people who are verystudious. +e know a lot of scriptures. +e read the word. 'ou could seek God about the scripture *ust like3aniel sought God over the scripture of 2eremiah. In whatever area God will speak to you through prophecy1through the word1 through vision1 through your inner witness about your life and your destiny1 we need totake time to seek God about those things. And they will activate not *ust the normal work of angels. !heangels will %uicken the work in a more special way in your life because you have become a seeker after God.

ets look as 3aniel ;: -B &n the third year of yrus -ing of ersia+ a message was revealed to:aniel whose name was called 0eltesha;;ar! The message was true but the a##ointed time was long> andhe understood the message+ and had understanding of the vision! 4o he had a partial understanding of whathe had received. &n those days &+ :aniel+ was mourning three full wee-s1 <he was fasting twenty-one days=1 &ate no #leasant food+ no meat or wine came into my mouth nor did & anoint myself with oil till three wholewee-s were fulfilled! $or twenty-one days he was spending time with God even though he was a rime7inister and a busy man. #e took all the free time that he had to seek God. ver what8 #e was not seekingGod for more riches. #e was not seeking God for more position. 'ou see a lot of us taking a lot of time topray for carnal things. If you only knew1 when you receive spiritual things the carnal things will be added toyou. 4eek ye first the kingdom of God and #is righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.!he %uestion is did you seek after the kingdom8 +hat do you mean by seeking after the kingdom8 +e needseeking after truth1 seeking after God1 seeking after the things of God. And all these things will be added to

your life.

I believe that 3aniel was fasting for twenty-one days for more revelations. #e had some revelationsbut he needed more. y now it had become a habit with 3aniel to seek God about those things. 4ome of thedifficult passages in the bible have taken me years to pray over and to ask God to help me to understandthem. +hatever visions or dreams or prophecy we have we need to take time to seek after God. Angels lovepeople who seek after God and they do special work for people like that. 'ou don"t seek after angels. 'ouseek after God and you look at what #e has done. +e are not seeking for something new. +e are seeking tounderstand to what #e has been speaking to us. 0ot a single one of us can say God has not been speakingto us. ut it is true when God speaks to us we don"t understand what #e speaks. +hat must we do if wedon"t understand all that God speaks to us8 4eek #im1 which is what many people don"t do. !hey are lookingfor more new things instead of understanding all the old things God has revealed and seeking God for an

understanding. And when you take time to do that God loves you. God loves seekers.

I believe 3aniel was taking twenty one days to seek God for that. +e know by the ways the angel

say to him in 3aniel ;: 6" :aniel+ man greatly beloved+ understand the words the & s#ea- to you+ andstand u#right+ for & have now been sent to you.6 erse twelve tells you what he was seeking for1 for twenty-one days. #e was not seeking for more riches1 or more position1 or more gold and silver and definitely not forany carnal things. #e was seeking first the kingdom of God and #is righteousness. 3aniel ;: ? :o not fear:aniel+ for from the first day that you set your heart to understand . oint one1 seek to understand. In the spiritworld understanding doesn"t come *ust by a lecture. Jnderstanding doesn)t come *ust by study.Jnderstanding comes by revelation as God gives more light for us to see. It comes by seeking. From the firstday that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God+ your words were heard>

and & have come because of your words . !he angelic instructions lasted from 3aniel chapter ; till chapter?. !here would have been no angelic visitation if 3aniel had not been seeking to understand. +e knowchapter nine would not have been there if 3aniel had not been seeking to understand. And we know chaptereight would not be there if 3aniel had not been seeking to understand. And we know chapter seven impliedmay not be there if 3aniel had not been seeking to understand.

+e look at our modern twentieth century. It is no different from 3aniel)s time in a sense. And we ask

ourselves why there is so little angelic manifestation working in our midst. And you have the answer. !hereare not many seekers after God. !here are not many who seek to understand. 4o you don"t seek for angel1you don"t seek for all these things. 9&amine your life what God has been speaking to you that you don"tunderstand. +hy not you take time to write those things down and take time to fast and pray like 3aniel andseek God to understand the meaning1 the fulfillment1 the appointed time and everything else about those

things. And when you sincerely do it with all your heart1 you will activate the special ministry of angels.

Do Yo-$ e"t

oint two1 do your best. If we have not been doing our best with all that we know how with all that

God has given us1 the angels will not be activated either. Angels are not here to replace us. !here are here tointervene not to interfere. !o help us. +hen we say help1 it is implied that we are doing something and thenthey are helping us. et me give some e&amples of people who have reached the point of ma&imumobedience. !hey have done all that they know how to do and yet help is not coming. !hat"s when you cantrust that God will let #is angels work mightily for you. If you have not done all your best the angels will notbe activated in that sense. I mean they will be work all the time in the normal way but I am talking about thespecial way. !he normal work of the angels still continues whether we ask or don"t ask God. ut there is aspecial work where because of our obedience and our initiation1 the angels are commissioned because ofour drawing close to God.

In the book of Genesis @ I bring the story of #agar and Ishmael because they are imperfect people.7any times when we illustrate principles with the lives of men or women of God1 we may say they are likethat but I am like this. !hey are so perfect so that is why this and that happened to them. !hat"s not for me.4o I want to use an e&ample when you know this person is imperfect. #agar was imperfect and so wasIshmael. !hey also have made mistakes in their lives. Ishmael)s mistake was that he did not respect hismaster)s son. And #agar)s mistake was that instead of being happy that she bore a child for Abraham1 she

started to have a wrong attitude towards 4arah1 her mistress.

Genesis @: E 'o he went into *agar and she conceived! $hen she saw that she had conceived

her mistress became des#ised in her eyes! !hat"s a nice way of saying she became proud. +henever youdespise people it is because you feel that you are higher then them. And person can become proud afterGod blessed him or her. !hat is why when you have *ust got a blessing from God1 %uickly bend your kneesand thank God. +hen people fall into trouble they are very %uick to bend their knees. ut when people areblessed they forget to bend down their knees %uickly to God. +hether you are blessed or stricken1 God willprotect you from being stricken if you know the word. 'ou are redeemed from the curse of the law. ut inyour blessing remember not to be proud. #umble yourself before God. Remember this you were born intothis world without a title. 'ou got your title because of your love ones or your uncle or you partially helpyourself to achieve your education. ut no one can be where they are without somebody else)s help. 9ven

for people who say that they are a self made person but nevertheless1 they had an opportunity to make ofthemselves something. !here are a lot of people who never had the opportunity1 who never had arecommendation. Remember to thank God. Anything we got in this life is because of #is grace.

And #agar was *udged and was punished. 4arah was angry1 she wouldn"t mind even if #agar died.4he sent her off. !hat looks cruel too. 4arah was also wrong. !his is an imperfect situation. !hank God inimperfect situation your angels still can work. If angels were to wait until we are perfect to work they will haveno *ob to do. In Genesis E: @ 4arah dealt harshly with her. I mean she treated #agar cruelly. And #agarsuffered until she couldn"t take it any more and ran off. Genesis E: The angel of the (ord found her by as#ring of water in the wilderness on the way to 'hur! And the angel said+ ,*agar where have you come from+where are you going! & am fleeing from the #resence of my mistress 'arah! Then the angel said+ return to

your mistress+ submit yourself under her hand! & will multi#ly your descendants so that they shall not becounted for the multitude! 4he is a woman who is suffering for the mistakes she has made. And God is aGod of compassion. God loves the needy. 0o matter even if they suffer for their own sins and theirwrongdoings1 God is still grieved.

3o you remember when the world was being *udged in 0oah)s time and it was to be punished1 it

says in Genesis @ God grieved. 4ee God loves those who are suffering1 those who are needy. !he sufferingof mankind touches #im. #e knows somehow in the whole chain of events1 it all came because of the fall ofman. 'ou know why the angel came. #agar had no other road to turn. And her best was not really the best inGod)s sight. 4he thought that the best was running away. !he best was not running away. et me tell you insome of our lives1 some hardships1 some difficulties1 sometimes we think the best is running away. !he bestin our mind or in our understanding may not be God)s best. +hen she had done her best in her situationH

when she couldn)t take it any more and rather die1 God sent an angel. 4he reached a point of ma&imumtolerance. And the angel said1 6Go back.6

0ow look at the second time the angel appeared to 4arah. After Isaac was born and something else

happened which was sad and should not have happened. Genesis ?: > 'arah saw the son of *agar thegy#tian+ whom she had borne to Abraham+ scoffing! !hat is like despising Isaac. 4o the root attitude wasnot dealt with yet. 4arah was very unhappy. And she wanted to chase out #agar again. !his time Abrahamwas the one with compassion. 4arah didn"t even give her anything. In Genesis ?: E  Abraham rose u#early in the morning+ too- bread and a s-in of water> and #utting it on her shoulder+ he gave it and the boy to*agar+ and sent her away! 4arah wasn"t even around. 0o thank you for all years that #agar had been

serving her. 2ust one moment of strife and she forgot all the good things of the past. +e should never dothat. 0o matter how you misunderstand somebody1 no matter how you fight and %uarrel1 remember thisevery one has some good in them. 7aybe you have not tasted some of the good things in their life that theymaybe helping somebody else. ecause when God made us #e saw something good in all of us. +e maynot be perfect. And maybe the person that you are trying to get rid off could have been a blessing tosomebody else. Remember there is goodness in every one of us that needs to be drawn out. 0o matter howtough the situation always remember hilippians E think about the good things.

In verse fifteen the water in the skin was used up. 4he placed the boy under one of the bushes

because she didn"t want to see the boy die. !hink about the situation. 4he had one little baby. 3on)t look ather from 4arah)s point of view. In every situation there is always two ways to look at it1 positively ornegatively. All things work for good to those who love God. In every situation look for the positive. Always

choose the positive way. #agar could have been middle aged by now. All she had was a skin of water withno place to go and apparently no natural future. 4he was sent away from a place which provided her food1clothing shelter and everything that she needed. +hile she is out there in the wilderness1 there was no manto help. Isn)t this sometimes your last situation8 Remember this: tough times may come but tough times don"tlast. !ough people do. e stronger than your tough times and you will pull through the tough times.

And there she was without any more water1 without any man to protect her1 without any knowledge

about desert survival and her son was dying. As if she was not suffering enough1 her son was now dying. Inthat situation many people don"t mind dying that the son may live. 4he put her son in the bush and wentaway because she cannot bear to see her son die. #ow far can a person go8 +hat is the ma&imumtolerance8 #ow far can a person stretch8 Remember when you have done your best1 even with all your

mistakesH the best in your situation may not have been God)s best. +hen you have done all that you knowhow to and there is not one more ounce of strength or energy or finances or anything else in you to go forthand it looks like as if you are going to die off and that is the last muscle1 that)s when God)s angels will work:when you have done your best in your situation.

And the angel of God appeared to #agar. In Genesis ?: @- Then she went and sat down acrossfrom him at a distance of about a bowshot> for she said to herself+ ,(et me not see the death of the boy!, 'oshe sat o##osite him+ and lifted her voice and we#t! And God heard the voice of the lad!   It looks like atragedy story with a sad ending. ut in God all things work for good to those who love God. +hen shereached the ma&imum best shot that she could have God heard the cries of the lad in verse seventeen.Genesis ?: -F The angel called to *agar out of heaven+ and said to her+ ,$hat ails you+ *agar Fearnot+ for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is! Arise+ lift u# the lad and hold him in your hand+ for &

will ma-e him a great nation! Then God o#ened her eyes and she saw a well of water!

!he bible says in 9phesians @ having done all stand. 0ow if it is one more thing that you haven)tdone: do it first. +hen you reached your ma&imum and done everything you know how and have prayed tothe ord1 you can e&pect a miracle with God. 'ou can e&pect God to send a special work of #is angel andGod #imself to work miraculously in your life. !he %uestion is have we done our best. !hat is a %uestion thatonly you can answer in your private closet with God. oint two do your best and let God take care of theother things. ut as for you and your household *ust do your best in your circumstances1 in your knowledgewhich may not be the best in God)s sight but the best in your understanding and you leave it in the hands ofGod. God will take care of the rest.

In the book of Acts ? here is the apostle aul. #e is a prisoner for the ord. It)s obvious that he haddone the best that he knows how. #e has testified for 2esus. #e has obeyed God by going to 2erusalemeven though he was warned that he would be imprisoned. 'et God will always put the right people in your

path when you do your best. In Acts ?: aul was on his way to Rome. And when it was decided that weshould set sail to &taly+ they delivered aul and some other #risoners to one named )ulius+ a centurion of the Augustan ?egiment . 2ulius treated aul kindly and gave him liberty to go to his friends and receive care.+hen you do your best God)s angels are working invisibly arranging all the circumstances.

2oseph did his best in the ld !estament and God arranged all the right people across his path. I

believe the story of Ruth where she did her best and God)s angel1 although they are not mentioned1 musthave been working to arrange all the circumstances. 3o your best as much as you know how.

!hen as they were about to sail in Acts ?: >-; aul sensed danger. #e says in verse ten1 ,Men+ & #erceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss! #e did his best to warn them and God willtake care of the rest. Against aul)s wishes they set sail. And immediately disaster struck. A lot of cargoswere lost and everyone was thinking that they are going to die. !here was no one who could save them andGod sent an angel because #e has done his best. An angel appeared to aul in Acts ?: ?B-?E ,For therestood by me this night an angel of the God to whom & belong and whom & serve+ saying+ 6:o not be afraid+aul> you must be brought before aesar> and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you .) !hismeans that not a single one will die. 4ee angels work in a special way when you have done your best. 'oudon"t e&pect a miracle until you have done your best. 4ometimes we hold back different things and then we

wonder why God didn"t work. And then we complain. Actually we were the ones who cause those problems.

5ing 3avid said I have been young and I have been old but I have not seen anyone who loves theord forsaken. !he young lions do lack and suffer hunger but those who love the ord never lack any goodfood. I like to make this statement. I don"t believe that there is any single individual on earth in this life or inthe life of those before us in history that have done their best as much as they know how in God spirit1 souland body and did not see God come through for them. If it takes a miracle1 God will work a miracle. If it takesopening the Red 4ea God will open the Red 4ea. 4ometimes God work through circumstances. #e bringspeople across your path like he does to 2oseph. ut if you have done your best1 then you deserve God)sbest. oint two do your best to your ma&imum in prayer as God helps you and God impresses upon youevery prompting that you need to obey and leave the result in the hands of God.

oint three is to understand of what I call dedication. 3edication is to surrender something or somesituations or whatever to the ord. +hen we dedicate a place to the ord it gives the angels specialpermission to interfere in the protection of the place. +hen you dedicate your business to the ord1 it givesthe angels special permission to intervene in the affairs of your business. +hen you become a tither and aperson who gives God offering1 you are dedicating your life to God. !he covenant that we make with Godre%uires that we give something to God. +hen you have dedicated your life to God in whatever way1 it givesthe angels a special permission at different points of their lives. It works both ways1 good or bad. In the evilspiritual realm demons powers have permission to interfere and to oppress and suppress lives because theyhave been dedicated to satanic forces. 0ow that happens in the negative. 4ometimes children that areaffected are innocent because the adults have dedicated themselves and their families to satan. 0ow thereverse is true. +hen we dedicate ourselves to God there is a special angelic protection in our lives andintervention because of our dedication to the ord.

ets look at aul)s life in Galatians : 0ut when it #lease God who se#arated me from my

mother6s womb and called me through *is grace!  3o you notice here that something happened when aulwas in his mother)s womb8 +e know according to 9phesians that the call of God is in predestination.efore we were born #e has called and chosen us. 4o what is this thing taking place in his mother)s womb. Ibelieve when aul)s mother was e&pecting him. aul)s mother must have dedicated him to the use of Almighty God. $rom that day forward the angels started working. And they made arrangements invisiblysuch as aul was brought up under the best teacher of his time. +hen we look at other lives and see whyGod work through 7oses and ask how come the angels worked in his life %uite mightily1 we find that in the

letter to the #ebrews we are told that the parents have somehow dedicated him. ook at #ebrews : ?B 0yfaith Moses when was born was hidden three months by his #arents because they saw he was a beautifulchild and they were not afraid of the -ing6s command . 0ow that implied that they saw something in him thatthey must have dedicated to God. !he mother may have prayed a prayer when she put the child in the

basket and let it float down the 0ile. And the angels started working in his life right up to the time in theburning bush because he was dedicated to the ord.

!he 2ews in this world have prospered in many areas. 3o you reali,ed that on the eighth day whenthe 2ew is circumcised as a 2ew1 that is also their dedication ceremony1 that they were actually dedicated to'ahweh God. And it is because of the dedication that had got God working in his area. 0ow as (hristians we

are a new race1 new people1 new breed that we learn the art of dedication. +e dedicated our business1 wededicated our house1 we dedicate our children. In the ld !estament they dedicate a house by saying1 6ord1although this is work of our little hands1 yet we now surrender it to you. It is yours.6 !hat)s dedication. 4ettingit apart for God. It can be people1 persons1 houses1 or anything in your possession1 which you dedicate it toGod. !he dedication gives the angels special permission to intervene. oint one seek to understand. ointtwo do your best. oint three the law of dedication.

/. 0INISTERING ANGELS

#ebrews : E Are they not all ministering @leitourgi-os s#irits+ sent forth to minister @dia-onia tothose who will inherit salvation. +e have earlier mentioned that the Greek word ministering  is a very specialword that comes from the word )leitourgi-os ) which means that they are spirits sent to minister insubordination to us. 0ot that they are not great in power1 or not great in position1 but they were sent to serve.!he word ministering  is not the word dia-onia. !he other word dia-onia in #ebrews : E is the same Greekword for deacons as found in the book of Acts @ who are people who were appointed to minister to thewidows. ut the word leitourgi-os as found in ministering spirits is a stronger word than servant. It"s a wordthat implies somebody coming and subordinating under you1 coming under your command.

0ot all the angels are in this category. !here are worship angels and they work differently. !here arewarring angels and they work differently. !here are messenger angels and they work differently. !here are

angels that stand in the presence of God. All these are different beings that God has made throughout hiscreation. 0ow ministering angels are especially send to minister to all our physical needs. All that we everneed in this life1 food1 clothing1 shelter1 transportation1 education. !hese necessities of this earthly life are inthe *urisdiction of these ministering spirits. And that means a few things here. +e have to respect them. +edon"t *ust simply order them. 4econdly they will not obey our command when it is not in line with the word ofGod. +e cannot tell them to do something that is outside God)s will. 0ow having fulfilled those conditions1the angels are sensitive to our spoken words to what we confess. And sometimes under the leading of the4pirit we will encourage you in your life to lift up your hands and to say words like for e&ample1 )goministering angels). 'ou are not talking to all angels. 'ou are only talking to leitourgi-os angels1 the angelsthat are ministering to you. And you could lift up your hands and say1 6Go ministering angels. Go forth andbring all that I need in my business1 in my ministry.6 'ou can say generally. 'ou are not asking them to dosome special assignment that is up to God. 'ou could say go forth ministering angels and bring forth yourclients if you are in the business world. If you are in the ministry you could ask the angels to go forth and

open all the right doors. r if you are winning souls you can ask the angels to go forth and prepare the soulsthat God wants you to witness to1 to share the Good 0ews. 4o we can do that only to this particular group ofangels.

And sometimes people misunderstand our position in two ways. ne1 they go over board and theydo things that they are not supposed to be doing. r secondly1 they tell the wrong group of angels1 warringangels or other angels which are in the different group altogether. !he other day I told you about somebodypraying in #ebrew although he doesn)t know #ebrew. And a rabbi was there and he heard that personspeaking in tongues1 calling angels by name and sending them forth to different places. !hat was the #oly4pirit speaking through human lips. !hat can happen under the leading of the #oly 4pirit. ut bear in mindthat ministering angels minister to our needs. !hey are interested to help you find a *ob1 to find an open doorin the ministry1 to take care of your food1 clothing and shelter. And if we were to learn how to co-operate with

them1 you will never ever lack of any good things. ecause God will make sure that the angels bring themacross your path. #e can ask the angels to bring people who have those things into your path or #e canbring them directly.

!hey teach us in all the needs of this life.

!he second area is direction. !urn to the book of 7atthew chapter one. !his is a love story. 2osephloved 7ary very much and they were both engaged to be married. And suddenly 7ary was found with childof the #oly 4pirit. And she had a tremendous testimony. ut 2oseph found it hard to believe that it actuallyhappened. An angel appeared to 7ary and say that she has a conception that is uni%ue. In verse nineteen

2oseph was troubled. !hen 2oseph her husband being a *ust man and not wanting to make her a publice&ample was minded to put her away secretly. 0ow he was thinking and thinking what to do. #e still loved7ary but he couldn)t accept her e&perience. #e couldn)t accept what she was saying. And he didn)t want tomake her ashamed. And in his mind he was thinking of putting her away. #e probably has made up his mindthat he is going to do that the ne&t morning. erse twenty while he thought about these things behold anangel of the (ord a##eared to him in a dream+ saying+ ,)ose#h+ son of :avid do not be afraid to ta-e to youMary your wife+ for that which is conceived in her is that of the *oly '#irit! And she will bring forth a son andyou shall call *is name )esus! For *e will save *is #eo#le from their sins! erse twenty four )ose#h whenhe wo-e u# being arouse from slee# did as the angel of the (ord commanded him!

4o angels could be involved in our direction. +e need to be opened to them. 4ometimes you may bemaking a wrong decision in your life. And you have already made up your mind and the ne&t day you are

going to take the action. !hat night God may speak to you through an angel in some way or in some form.ut sadly sometimes when we received those messages we treat it as a dream and not an angelic messageand we never follow through and we suffer the conse%uences. !he angels have been directing 2oseph alsoat other times in 7atthew ?: B $hen the wise men had de#arted an angel of the (ord a##eared to )ose#hin a dream saying arise ta-e the young child and his mother and flee to gy#t and stay there until & bring youword! For *erod will see- the young child to destroy him! #e went1 who will want to shift the location of yourhome *ust because of one angelic message through a dream. 0ot many of us will want to shift to another cityto live *ust because of an angelic message or because of a dream.

0ow we don"t *ust go by dreams or by angelic message. It must be confirmed in our inner witness.!hese are all I call supplementary messages to strengthen what God is already speaking on our inside. If it isa ma*or thing make sure you seek counsel and don"t *ust go by every dream or vision. It has to be in line withthe will of God. 4ome people who are not solidly grounded in the word will *ust make a sudden decisionwhich is not in line with the word of God. n the other hand1 some will *ust try to follow a dream or visionwhich goes against other principles in the word of God. !he point we are making here is that it is significantthat the direction that 2oseph received was all from an angel and it involved his entire life and family. It meantpulling out his roots from his home town and going to another nation to live until it was time and God sendhim back again through a dream.

Angels can give direction. In the book of Acts F the #oly 4pirit and the angel worked together. Anangel of God told hilip go and stand at the crossroad. 4o it was not the #oly 4pirit who gave hilip thedirection here but it was an angel. As hilip was standing at the cross road the #oly 4pirit told him go and *oin himself to the chariot. 4o there was a #oly 4pirit and there was an angel. +hy should we receive

direction from angels8 It is still the #oly 4pirit who happens to use what I call the means to direct us. 4omeof us say when angels direct us we work. I don"t think so because many times we doubt. +e *ust cannotbelieve that God will want us to do some of those things. In fact by the time angels moved and work they aresupplementary. It is because God has been working on our inward witness and we are not fully flowing withit. God will always speak through the #oly 4pirit and direct us through the #oly 4pirit. ut God uses the #oly4pirit as a second line of direction or second line of guidance to strengthen what we already received in ourinward witness. And this is where the angels come in. God knows that we don"t change easily. And we arenot creatures willing to change especially when it comes to a ma*or area. And #e supplements the directionof the #oly 4pirit through angelic help.

0umber one education1 number two direction1 number three protection. ets turn to the book of3aniel @: !here was a law that these have come out with that says all the governors of the kingdom1 the

administrators and satraps1 the adviser have consulted together to establish as royal statute. And to make afirm decree that who ever petition any god or man for thirty days e&cept you king shall be cast into the denof lions. +e all know the story of 3aniel and the lions) den. eople can always rationali,e what took placedown there. 4ometimes people say the lions are very old. thers say the lions were very well fed so they

Page 27: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

8/12/2019 Working With Angels by Peter Tan

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/working-with-angels-by-peter-tan 27/31

didn"t feel like eating 3aniel. ut all these are wrong stories because we know in 3aniel @: ?E that when theother people were thrown down into the lions) den1 they were overpowered and killed. +hen the other peoplewere thrown in1 <3aniel)s accusers= when they cast them into the den of lions and the lions overpoweredthem and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den. !hese were wildlions and yet when 3aniel was thrown1 3aniel was found alive and he said in verse twenty two. My God sendhis angels and shut the lions6 mouth so that they have not hurt me because & was found innocent before him! And also " -ing & have done no wrong before you. Angels were protecting 3aniel all the time.

Angels work in education1 direction1 protection and number four provision. Angels guide us to find

food1 clothing and shelter. Angelic help is always involved. !urn to the book of $irst 5ings >: E1 angels areinterested in providing for us. li3ah was discouraged and he was down! 0ut he himself went a day6s 3ourneyinto the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree! And he #rayed that he might die and said itis enough+ now (ord ta-e my life for & am not better than my fathers! And as he lay and sle#t under a broomtree+ suddenly an angel touched him! 0ow 9li*ah didn"t reali,e the things he was facing. 0umber one he hadloneliness. 0umber two he was e&hausted. God send him an angel and the angel said1 6Arise and eat.6 ookat what he ate in verse si&+ then he loo- and there was a ca-e ba-ed and a 3ar of water . #e never askedwhere it came from. erse si& tells you angels can be very good cooks. 3on"t go around your kitchen andorder the angels to cook. !hey will not obey your every whims and fancies. In verse seven the angel of the(ord came bac- a second time touched him and said arise and eat because the 3ourney is too great for you!

'o he arose and ate and dran- and he went into the strength of that food+ forty days and forty nights as faras *oreb the mountain of God . I love that kind of food which allows you to eat once in forty days.

!here is an interesting incident in the gospel of 2ohn ?: . !he disciples were in the sea but thedistance was near enough for them to communicate and 2esus said to them1 children have you any food.!hey answered him no. !hen he said to them cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will findsome. 4o they cast and now they were not able to drag in because of the multitude of fish. !herefore thedisciples of 2esus said to eter it is the ord. And eter dive in and swam to the ord but the other discipleshave to slowly come because the boast was full of fish. In verse nine and as soon as they come to land theysaw a fire of coals there and fish laid on it and bread. !he ord made breakfast for them. 2esus said in verseten bring some of the fish you have *ust caught. And eter went and dragged the net to land full of large onehundred and fifty three. !hen in verse twelve 2esus said come and eat breakfast. God is interested in ourprovision and he has assigned angels to take care of provision.

In some of the stories you see in #agar there was no food and the baby was dying. !he angels

were in charge of the provisions for them. Angels were in charge of education and to teach us how to get thethings of this life. Angels are in charge of our protection and our provision and our direction. !hese are thefour areas that we are touching on1 education1 direction1 protection and provision.

0ow lets look at the common element that takes place so that these four areas of angelic help canwork in our life. ets start looking again at 2acob and draw some pointers how he co-operated with thoseangels in order for these things to work. In the book of Genesis B: ; *e lifted u# his eyes and he saw in

his dreams s#otted+ s#ec-led+ stri#es and the angels tal-ing to him in verse twelve saying+ lift u# your eyesnow and see all the rams which lea#ed on the floc-s are stri#es+ s#ec-led+ s#otted+ for & have seen all that(aban has been doing to you. 0ow why did the angel work in his life8 ecause in verse thirteen it says1 6 &am the God of 0ethel where you anointed the #illar+ where you made a vow to me! ow arise get out of thisland and return to the land of your -indred .6 !here was a special thing in that message. !he God of ethel isa new name that God took because ethel was nothing before 2acob)s time. ethel was a name that 2acobgave to the place where he had a dream of the angels ascending and descending on 2acob)s ladder.

ets look at Genesis ?F: ? as he was running away from his brother he dreamt.  And behold a

ladder was set u# on the earth and its to# reached to heaven and the angels of God were ascending anddescending on it! And behold the (ord stood above it and said & am the God of Abraham your father and the

God of &saac the land on which you lie & will give to you and your descendants! 2acob had actually beendedicated to God when Isaac laid his hands on him. #e had been covenanted to God. !he covenant life wasnow flowing to him. !hat)s why the angels were now working in his life. Its important to dedicate ourselves toGod. And the message of the ord continues in verse fifteen. 0ehold & am with you and will -ee# you

Page 28: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

8/12/2019 Working With Angels by Peter Tan

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/working-with-angels-by-peter-tan 28/31

wherever you go and will bring you bac- to this land for & will not leave you until & have done what & haves#o-en to you. 0ow look at what 2acob replied to God in verse si&teen. 'urely the (ord is in this #lace and &did not -now it! Is it possible to have the ord in a place8 'es1 it is possible to have something spiritual andnot knowing it. It is possible to have some special manifestation1 visitation or blessing and not knowing it.

erse seventeen he also prayed and said1 how awesome is this #lace there is none other than the

house of God and this is the gate of heaven! And he called the #lace 0ethel house of God . !hat was a namegiven by 2acob and later on in his life some twenty years later the God whom he had met here appeared tohim again. In verse eighteen he rose early in the morning too- the stone and #ut it on his head set it u# as a #illar and #oured oil on it and he call the name of the #lace 0ethel . 0ow God didn)t ask him to pour oil. #e ofhis own initiative did it. 0ow there are some more messages here that teach us about angels providing for usand educating us and teaching us. +e see first of all the name is special I am the God of ethel the house ofGod. $or us to be educated by angels we must be faithful to the things of God)s house in other words of God.!here is no point if you don"t want a proper education. 'ou want to be self-taught and everything is throughtuition. +e reali,e that at least there must be a basic before we can go on. !he angelic education issupplementary its not supposed to be the main one. +e should be faithful to the education we can receive inGod)s house1 with the word of God1 through books1 whatever we must be faithful to educate ourselves in thatarea then the angels of God will supplement.

4econd is the work of anointing. #e anointed the pillar with oil. il symboli,es the #oly 4pirit. +emust learn from the 4pirit of God who will teach us and lead us into all truth. In the book of $irst 2ohn ?: ?the anointing within you is able to teach you!  +e must be faithful to the anointing within. 0ow angels will noteducate us if we didn"t do our best. +e must do the best that we can first then we can e&pect angelic help.'ou notice that when the angels came to 2esus at Gethsemane and in the gospel of 7ark when #e was inthe wilderness they didn)t come at the beginning. And 2esus for forty days and forty nights was tempted bysatan. !he angels never came to help #im. !he angels only came when #e completed the temptation. 'ousee don)t e&pect the angels to short-circuit the process and your life is *ust a fatso life1 *ust lying down andsay yes angels bring this here and we don"t do anything. 0o we are not on this for vacation. !here is a workof God to be done. +e are here as pilgrims on a *ourney helping others to know God. +e must do our best inall that we know and the angels will supplement.

!urn over to the gospel of 7ark : B and this is a similar thing in Gethsemane. And he was there in

the wilderness for forty days tempted by satan and was with the wild beasts and the angels ministered tohim. !he scenario was the same as the story in Gethsemane. !he angels came towards the end. Angelswere not allowed to interfere on what was going on. #e had to complete that and do #is best before theangels could come in. +e need to follow the inward witness as much as we know how. and obey theanointing within. $irst 2ohn ?: ? indicates that the anointing educate and teach you all the things you needto know about this life. And the angels will supplement what is necessary. 4o the oil represents the anointingof God and the #oly 4pirit.

0umber three Genesis ?F:?;-?? Then )acob made a vow+ saying+ ,&f God will be with me+ and -ee#

me in this way that & am going+ and give me bread to eat and clothing to #ut on+ so that & come bac- to myfather6s house in #eace+ then the (ord shall be my God! And this stone which & have set as a #illar shall beGod6s house+ and of all that you will give me & will surely give a tenth to you!, #e made a covenant with God. A tithe is a symbol of covenant you have with God. And that is why the angel came to help him. In the bookof Genesis an angel appeared in a dream when he was being cheated. 2acob had obeyed God as much ashe knows how. And he was at the end of himself and then God started working in his life through the angels.

2oseph)s life in 7atthew the angel gave him direction. !here are certain conditions for angels todirect us. 7atthew :> )ose#h her husband being a 3ust man. 0umber one we must want to do right. If inour heart we intend to do wrong don"t e&pect angelic direction. +e have to deal with our own flesh. 2osephwas a *ust man and he really wanted to do what was right. ut what was right in his mind and in hiscalculation happened to be wrong. #e didn"t understand why these things were happening. #e didn"t

understand and couldn)t accept 7ary)s e&perience. ut he was a very righteous man and was true to hisconscience. #e didn"t want 7ary to be put to shame. And he *ust wanted to cover and protect everything and *ust %uietly go off.

Page 29: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

0umber one the direction will come if we are desirous to do the right thing. erse nineteen being a 3ust man not wanting to ma-e her a #ublic exam#le: he was1 number two1 a man of love and compassion.+hen you always seek the ways of compassion and the ways to walk in life God will direct your path. !heway of love and compassion is the best way. #e could be angry with her and do anything. #e never did anyof these things because he love 7ary. 2oseph was a man of love and compassion. +hen we have hate1anger and all the other things1 angels cannot help us because our life is not right. ut out of love you want to

do the most loving thing possible and sometimes the most loving thing may also be the wrong thingH it mayactually cause more hurt1 even though your intentions are right. All of us can make mistakes like that.4ometimes the way they e&press their love to you is not received. 2ust like sometimes a man may have hisgood intentions misinterpreted when he gives something to his wife on a special occasion like her birthday oranniversary. Instead of buying her flowers he bought her a washing machine. 'ou may have remembered allthe times she slaved in washing clothes but she can be very upset. 6+ho do you think I am1 awasherwoman86 +hen a man does that he may be doing it out of love. 4ometimes we intend something inlove but it is not e&pressed in a way that the other person understands. 4ometimes our heart is full of lovebut when we e&press it1 it is not received as love. It is received as interference1 received as busybody1received as all kinds of wrong things. 4o here 2oseph had good intentions1 what he wanted to do was wrongin God)s sight. It was the wrong method because he got the wrong understanding. ut basically he loved7ary still. If he didn"t love 7ary he would have chased her out. !hat is number two he had a heart full of loveand wanted to put her away secretly.

0umber three verse twenty four )ose#h being aroused from slee# did as the angel of the (ordcommanded him1 and too- him his wife and did not -now her till she had brought forth her first born son andhe call his name )esus! 0ow he was a very upright man. #e respected what was going on here. And the thirdpoint in receiving direction was he was willing and obedient. +hen you are willing and obedient you will eatthe good of the land. It is important to note that to receive direction we must have righteousness in ourconscience. +e must have love and compassion and we must be people who are willing to obey. Andbecause of these things the angels found it good to work with him. !hat is why sometimes angels don"t seemto direct our life because we didn)t fulfill all these conditions.

et)s look at 3aniel @ for God to protect you it should never be a last minute thing. !here areprinciples behind God protecting in our lives through angels that we must adhere to. I mean 3aniel didn)tstart his prayer life as he was about to be thrown into the lion)s den. #e was thrown into the lion)s denbecause of his prayer life. 4o sometimes people start their prayers too late. !hey don)t look for God all theirlife and suddenly they are in trouble. At the last minute they look for God for protection. It would *ust be like3aniel being tied up and about to be thrown into the lion)s den. As you are being thrown into the lion)s den1you start saying your prayers. 'ou got only a few seconds from the top of the pit to the bottom of the den tosay your prayers. I don)t think you would have much time. !here must be some principles behind angelsprotecting us. 0umber one consistency. A consistent prayer life and word life. !hat means whether there isdanger or no danger1 whether there is crisis or no crisis1 you maintain a good devotional life with God. 3on"twait till the last minute. In prosperity or adversity you maintain your prayer life with God. 'ou watch how Godprotect people with angels. 'ou will find that those are the same people who are very consistent with God. Inseason and out season they are very consistent in their prayer life with God. In revivals and between special

revivals they will always be consistent. 0umber one consistency. 3aniel was consistently praying all his life.ets look at verse ten. :aniel -new that the writing was signed and he went home and in his u##er room withhis windows o#ened towards )erusalem! *e -nelt down on his -nees three times that day and #rayed andgave than-s before his God as was his custom since early days! 0umber one consistency that is why theangels protected him.

0umber two look at verse twenty two. My God send his angels and shut the lion6s mouth so that theyhave not hurt me. And he give his reason: because & was found innocent before him. 0umber two obedienceto God)s law and God)s command. #e has not broken any of God)s law. +hen you break God)s law you don)te&pect angelic protection. If they ever protected you it is because of #is mercy and #is grace that will coveryou for sometime until you reach a point where #e will not cover you any more. 0umber two 3aniel wasobedient to God)s law.

0umber three is also important. Also in verse twenty two. Also " -ing & have done no wrong before

Page 30: Working With Angels by Peter Tan

you. 0umber three blameless. #e has not broken man)s law. !hese are the kind of people that God loves.

$inally in $irst 5ings > we see angelic provision. !he angel provided 9lisha with special food.5ings >: B-E $hen he saw that he arose and ran for his life+ and went to 0eersheba in )udah and left hisservant there! *e himself went a day6s 3ourney into the wilderness and #rayed that he might die+ and said+ ,&tis enoughC ow+ (ord+ ta-e my life+ for & am no better than my fathersK +e also need to cross reference to

verse fourteen1 And he said+ ,& have been very ;ealous for the (ord God of *osts because the children of&srael forsa-en your covenant+ torn down your altars+ -illed 7our #ro#hets with the sword! & alone am left andthey see- to ta-e my life! !he plus point for 9lisha was that he was ,ealous for God. $or God to provide forus number one we must not be halfhearted people. God doesn)t like to prosper people who are half hearted.God prosper people who love #im with all their heart1 with their entire mind1 with all their soul and with alltheir strength. 0umber one ,eal for God. +hen you are ,ealous for God you do things different from otherpeople.

3o you know that two (hristians can do the same *ob differently8 'ou can do the *ob with ,eal andwithout ,eal. +hen you look at (hristians doing a *ob without ,eal *ust like they got no heart to do it1 theynever prosper. God don"t open more doors to bring prosperity. (hristians who are ,ealous1 whether tosweep the floor or even if they are working in a little *ob that earn them a few hundred dollars a month1 they

do it with great ,eal1 with great *oy. !hey do it not onto man but onto God. God prosper them. 4o why didn)tGod prosper because we are half hearted. +e don)t give our whole heart to do whatever needs to be done. Ifyou are a road sweeper make yourself the best road sweeper. If you are an engineer make yourself the bestengineer. 0ot because of your company but because you are serve as if you are serving onto God. +hatever *ob you are doing you are doing as unto the ord and that is in the writing of aul in his epistle we do it asunto God. 4o if we don"t do what we need to do ,ealously1 we will have no promotion1 no blessings1 no moreopen doors1 no more prosperity coming. +hatever we have we are stuck1 we are stagnant.

0umber one is ,eal for God. +hy did God love to provide for 9li*ah8 #e had ,eal. 9ven hisprophetic ministry was because of his ,eal. ook at 5ings >: !he angel said to him1 ,Arise and eatbecause the 3ourney is too great for you!,  0umber two you must stretch yourself to your limits and then Godwill provide the e&tra. If you believe God for anything and you have not stretch yourself to the best of yourlimits. God doesn)t seem to operate through his angels in provision. ut when you have done all you know togive away and to do the right thing. I don"t mean giving *ust foolishly. r by whims and fancies. !he best typeof giving is planned giving. +hen it becomes too great for you the angels will come and supplement.ecause planned stretching is stretching which is for a consistent period. It is *ust like once in a blue moodyou go for a marathon run. 'ou don)t do it that way. 'ou should be running a little bit every two days andbuilding your stamina up. !hat is better for your body and for your health than once a year go for marathonrun when you never run before. !hat kind of over stretching is wrong. It is not planned not disciplined and notproper. 4ometimes people stretch themselves without planning. 4o when we stretch ourselves to the limitsand we have done our best God will add the e&tra grace. !hat is number two.

And number three in 5ings >: Then *e said+ ,Go out+ and stand on the mountain before the

(ord .6 And as he stood there different things happened but finally in verse twelve after the fire a still smallvoice and he ask him the same %uestion in verse thirteen. $hat are you doing here li3ah8 !his is not thefirst time. !he first time was found in verse nine. $hat are you doing here li3ah And #e revealed to himspecial things in I 5ings >: -F. #e reveals #is will for him1 what he must continue doing. 4o our thirdpoint is the will of God. +hen we do the will of God and keep consistently doing the will of God1 God willprovide for you. +hen we are outside #is will then we run into trouble. 4o the angels of God work inproviding education1 direction1 protection and provision. And each has its proper principles to bring us to theposition for the angels of God to work in our lives.
