WORKING WITH ADJUSTMENT LAYERS• Adjustment Layers are used to change the appearance of a

layer without actually altering the layer

WORKING WITH ADJUSTMENT LAYERS• First, select the photograph thumbnail in the Layers Panel

• A white bracket surrounds the photograph thumbnail

WORKING WITH ADJUSTMENT LAYERS• Select Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Posterize

WORKING WITH ADJUSTMENT LAYERS• Select OK

• Note that the adjustment layer has been added above the photograph layer in the Layers Panel

• Posterizing divides the image into 1-256 gray levels

PHOTO RETOUCHING WITH THE SPOT HEALING BRUSH

• Place a photograph in a new Photoshop document.


• Select the Spot Healing Brush Tool.


• Select the size and attributes of the Spot Healing Brush Tool on the Options Bar


• Select the layer you want to retouch in the Layers Panel


• Click on the image.

• A window pops up asking if you want to rasterize the smart object.

• Select OK.


• Move the cursor to the area you want to retouch.

• Make sure the brush is slightly larger than the area to be retouched.

• Click.


• The Spot Healing Brush Tool fills in the center of the selected area with pixels copied from the perimeter of the brush.
