Introduction
Welcome to the 20th annual joint production sale of in-lamb ewes and ewelambs that represent the cream of the UK Charollais genetics, all with thepotential to breed you record breaking Charollais sheep.
This year has not been an easy year by any stretch of the imagination and wehave all had to adapt to find new ways of selling our sheep but the firm andsteady sometimes buoyant commercial trade must surely put some confidenceinto the market place.
We say goodbye this year to one of Saucy’s founder members Mr. Percy Tait andwish Will and Jan the very best of luck when they disperse the flock that theyand Percy built up so diligently under the Knighton prefix over the years.
We welcome Hannah Sloan, Rigghead, James Danforth, Lodgehill, Ben &Amelia Watts, Willow and Gethin Davies, Moelfryn to the sale and wish themevery success.
All ewes forward will be scanned in Worcester Market by an independentscanner prior to being sold and will have undergone an inspection forconfirmation of health, soundness of teeth, feet and udders.
Transport to Ireland has been arranged to help potential purchasers from boththe North and South.
The sale will be live streamed and each one of us would welcome the viewing ofthe sheep on farm by prior arrangement and facilities can be made for telephonebids should you be unable to attend the sale in person.

Signet Performance Recording New Charollais Benchmark for 2020Rebasing - EBVs and indexes have been rebased and are expressed relativeto the average animal in 2010.
Weight Adjusted Traits - Please note that all traits marked * are nowweight adjusted. This means that EBVs are a better prediction of carcasecomposition at a fixed weight. Example A ram with a muscle depth EBV of+2mm is estimated to produce lambs with loin depths 1mm deeper at a fixedweight than a ram with an EBV of 0.

General InformationThe Sale will commence at 12.00 noon.
The sale is held under the auspices of the British Charollais Sheep Society and allsheep will be sold subject to the Rules and Conditions of the Society. Copies areavailable from the Society or Auctioneers and will be displayed at the sale.
All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order. Allsheep to be sold singly.
LICENSES Vendors are responsible for completing their Standard MovementDocuments prior to the sale. The Market Holding Number is 17 521 8000-01
HEALTH The sheep are from Maedi Visna Accredited flocks registered with the SACSheep & Goat Health Scheme. All flocks have Scrapie Monitored Status or are testedARR/ARR genotype.
SCANNING RESULTS All ewes will be scanned with results available on the day ofthe sale or printed in the catalogue. This in no way guarantees the number of lambsat birth.
If any female sheep which is described in the catalogue or at the time of sale asbeing “scanned in lamb” or “in lamb” proves not to have been in lamb at the time ofsale and within 7 days after the day of sale the Purchaser gives written notice to theauctioneers of his intention to return the animal supported by a veterinary surgeon’scertificate that such sheep has proved not to have been in lamb then the purchasermay return such sheep to the vendor. Ewe lambs are sold as empty.
PEDIGREE CERTIFICATES & SCRAPE GENOTYPE CERTIFICATES PedigreeCertificates will be available at the Auction Mart Office on the day of the saletogether with certificates of Scrapie Genotype for all sheep that have been tested.
BIO-SECURITY Current DEFRA regulations are to be observed.

This years Saucy Sale offering of 5 high index ewe lambs represent the verybest of our genetics at Edstaston. They have both looks to go forward in theshow ring and performance figures to produce the goods in the commercialsector. These lambs are reared on a predominantly forage based diet andhave had no hard food since grass growth started in early Spring.
Edstaston genetics are very much to the fore of the Charollais breeding in theUK and beyond. It is of great testament to the flock that such a largepercentage of this year’s Premier Sale catalogue featured Edstastonbreeding.
Despite there being no shows this year we have been very busy on themarketing front with rams sold to Thomas Darling (Crunklaw), Mark andMargie Rushbrooke (Brettles), James Danforth (Lodgehill), William Doherty(Southern Ireland), David Jerman (Gwernau) and Riccardo Delle Fratte in Italy.Live sheep have also been exported to Southern Ireland, Spain, Italy, Russiaand Germany adding to our portfolio that previously included Romania,Switzerland, Belgium and Holland. Embryos are currently being born inMexico and will soon be in Italy and semen has also been exported toCanada, Dominican Republic, New Zealand, Ireland and Mexico.
Despite Covid restrictions we have had a very successful season selling offfarm and we would like to wish all purchasers the best of luck with their newacquisitions.
A great opportunity to buy into Edstaston genetics which I am sure will thriveunder a variety of management systems.
EEDSTASTON RAMS:KNOCKIN SHOCKIN : 17XXJ00376 - ARR/ARR - INDEX 345Purchased for the record price of 25,000 gns. Shockin needs nointroduction having produced progeny that have excelled in both sale andshow rings. He now has sons that are producing the goods with severalgrandsons realising four figures at sales. Coupled with this is theperformance data with Shockin’s Terminal Sire Index currently being 345which places him comfortably in the top 1% for the breed.
HILLSIDE TENNYSON : 18VBK00237 - ARR/ARR - INDEX 202Purchased at Dungannon 2018 for 2600 gns from the Hillside flock ofAlistaire Moore. Tennyson was bought for his style, skin and confirmationwhile very correct on his legs and feet. It is very pleasing to see his lambsare fulfilling all of these traits.

My Breeding aim at Lodgehill isstylish heads, with great length andwidth throughout; complimentedwith great depth of muscle in loinand gigots, tight skins, walking ongood legs and feet and must be
able to do what a sheep should do - rearing lambs and have a "wow" factor.
I have made some key purchases, to make up some of my foundationfamilies, from Edstaston, Knockin, Wernfawr, Artnagullion and Foulriceflocks, The main one being Wernfawr Tina Turner purchased for 3,800 gns.

Edstaston Rockin Robin - 16TG00561 (pictured right) is the sire of Lot57 and sire of the dam of Lot 58 . He has a great depth of pedigree andtrue breed characteristics. Rockin Robin breeds tremendous progeny withgreat length and width, tight skins, stylish heads and the daughters arevery milky!
Notable progeny are LLodgehill Shakira mentioned previously. His first sonCarnew Vagabond sold to the Jonathan and Carroll Barber of CroghamFlock for 1,250gns at Worcester Premier sale 2020
Rainbow Lindisfarne is renowned for his consistent progeny with greatcarcases, tight skins and good legs and feet, having bred tremendously wellin the past for the famous Edstaston and Knockin flocks, with particularsuccesses at shows and sales with Edstaston Madison and Knockin Puckerup!
They have been outside from the 10th January, even in harsh weather! Onthe Heptavac P System, mineral drenched and Dectamax before the sale.

Ruben reallyis something special, producingconsistent lambs with cracking heads,loin and back end! Just what I lovedabout Him. His daughters are doingreally well; they are great milkymothers that keep their conditionnaturally.

Loanhead Titan: 18WNC22678- ARR/ARR - INDEX 283(pictured bottom left) Purchased from Worcester Premier 2018 for 2,400gns.An eye catching lamb with great growth and power, this lamb caught my eyeon photographs from a young age and I couldn’t get past him at the sale,when he handled just as good as he looked! His sire Hollylodge Supremewas also the sire of the sale champion who sold for 9,500gns. He has growninto a huge ram and his first crop of daughters are looking promising!

The Willow Flock was founded in 2010 by Ben after purchasing some ewesfrom the Churchill Flock and a number of in-lamb ewes from the Saucy Saleand the Trevadlock flock dispersal of JTG & EG Sleep that year.
10 years on (and after meeting Amelia at that first purchase of ewes; gettingmarried and one child later) the focus is very much on producing naturallyhard fleshing sheep.

A strange year, no shows, less sales and an incredibly buoyant sheep industry.Whatever market place you use, quality is still at a premium and will be indemand. At Dalby we continue to strive for improvement each year, believingthat by making progress in the looks, performance and pedigrees of our sheepwe will have a more resilient business in the future. By focusing on theproduction of fast growing, easily fleshed sheep that can be managedcommercially we know our genetics will be in demand both in this country andabroad. In this most difficult of years it has been most pleasing to have interestfrom our fellow breeders, and even more pleasing to have sold stock rams to theFfrwd, Greenvale, Janos, Wolston and Redhill flocks, who we wish well with theirpurchases.
The 5 yearlings for this year's sale are right from the heart of our breedingprogramme from some of our most consistent and successful lines, by our topstock rams and in lamb to widely proven rams.
They are all on the Heptavac P+ system and have been vaccinated againstEnzootic, Toxoplasmosis and Camphyla bacta abortion. They have been wormedregularly, treated with Click extra and were given an animax bolus prior totupping.

He has consistentlysired high priced and successful males and stylish easily fleshed females thatare now breeding incredibly well.

Edstaston Tulloch - 18TG00737A well grown and powerful lamb when we purchased him, he has grown on to bethe biggest and strongest ram we have ever used. The visitors to our farmcontinue to be impressed with his physical attributes and ability to pass that onto his progeny. Last year we sold two ram lambs to average 2,200gns at thePremier Sale and this year we have sold 3 ram lambs to average 2,650gns fromhome. Equally as important is Tulloch’s ability to sire powerful well fleshedshearling rams, we think this year's bunch being our best ever. If proof wereneeded, we were delighted to be awarded the Champion Pen at the NSA EasternRegion early ram sale at Rugby and sold for the top average of the day.
Dalby Super Trooper - 17PE05884Originally sold for 3,500gns at the Premier Sale to the Hyde flock, Super Trooperhas done a brilliant job in several flocks. Seeing the quality of his progeny andwith an index in the top 1% we decided to use some semen this year. By the3,100gns Foulrice Regis out of our best yearling of that year he has fulfilled ourexpectations from the potential of his pedigree.
Foulrice Regis - 16DG06349Purchased for 3,100gns at the Premier Sale, Regis was originally selected for hisperformance figures, exceptional skin and clean fleshing. All of which he haspassed on to his progeny . Again used for AI this year to provide differentbreeding and positive fat depth.

Following last year’s very successful sale, the 4 yearling ewes offered forsale this year are again, top quality daughters of Edstaston Sotogrande andout of the best family lines in the flock.
This year’s service sire, DALBY VEAINU - 20PG08783, was purchasedprivately from Charles Sercombe. A tremendous ram with style andpresence. He is a strong lamb with excellent width and bone quality andexceptional hind quarters with really tight skin. He also happens to be a top1% lamb with an index of 350.
They have been vaccinated with Enzovax and are on the HeptavacP+ system.

2018 was a great year for us winningOverall Champion in Builth II with MoelfrynTip-Top, his full brother was also 3rd in thesame class. We also had a great day inWelshpool female sale having OverallChampion with one of our shearling ewes
and our pen of 6 sold to average 700gns.
We have a special ewe for the sale which isa half-sister to Tip-Top, she is the onlyfemale we have from this line and in oureyes, she is a cracker!
The ewes are in-lamb to WernfawrUnexpected purchased in Builth II 2019 hewas 1st prize in the January lamb class. Heis a big powerful ram with big gigots andlength!
