MERINO
Winner of the Supreme Champion Merino will receive a sash, trophy and prize donated by The Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society.
Grand Champion Merino Ram will receive a $100 prize donated by Advantage Feeders.
Grand Champion Merino Ewe will receive a $100 Voucher donated by Bacchus Marsh Farm Supplies.
Ballarat Stock & Station Agents will award a trophy to the Austin Cup winnerAll Merinos must be penned by 8.00 a.m. Any exhibitor wishing to bring sheep in on the Saturday is welcome to do so between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Persons in charge of sheep for exhibition must apply at the Secretary’s Office, Showgrounds, for Poll Tickets to be attached to Sheep.
Exhibitors to make arrangements to hold their exhibits.All sheep entered as unhoused may be housed during anytime within one week after shearing, but shall not be otherwise housed or rugged in any way from the date of the previous shearing except from the 1st June prior to the Show.
All Merinos exhibited at the Show must now be micron tested in accordance with conditions of entry, as per the Victorian Stud Merino Breeders Minimum Standards.All Merino exhibits must have been inspected and tagged according to regulations.Inspections and tags from the other Sheep Show Committees will be recognized at Ballarat.
Merino Classes are for horned sheep only. (There are separate Poll Merino classes)
Ribbons will be allotted to the first three placings in each Section with extra ribbons to be allocated according to the discretion of the judge.
Sashes will be presented to all Champions and Reserve Champions.

Regulations for Restricted ClassesSheep in these classes may be housed or unhoused. All sheep must be inspected and tagged to shearing regulations.
A Stud which has won an Open Championship at either; A.S.B.A.Bendigo, Sydney Royal, Adelaide Royal, Dubbo, Queensland State Sheep Show, Campbelltown Tas, Wagin W.A., Perth Royal, Stawell, Sale, Horsham, Balmoral, Hamilton or Ballarat will be ineligible to enter in Restricted Classes.
Any Stud which wishes to return to Restricted status due to changed circumstances must apply to the Victorian Stud Breeders Committee for consideration.

CORRIEDALE To be penned by 8.30 a.m. ready for judging by 9 a.m. Any exhibitor wishing to bring sheep in on Saturday is welcome to do so between 2 pm and 7 pm. Competition in this Section restricted to Corriedales bred in a registered flock and exhibited by members of the Australian Corriedale Association.
Rams from Brucellosis accredited flocks only will be accepted.

LONG WOOL, SHORT WOOL &
CLEANSKIN BREEDSRibbons will be allotted to the first three placings in each Class with extra ribbons to be allocated according to the discretion of the judge.
All Long and Short wool breeds of sheep must be penned and ready for judging at 9am.
Any exhibitor wishing to bring sheep in on Saturday is welcome to do so between 2pm and 7 pm. Join us for a complimentary BBQ, from 5pm Saturday evening hosted by the Sheep Show Committee.
Entries are restricted to sheep bred in a current registered flock and exhibited by members of their breed society.
Only Rams from accredited Brucellosis free flocks will be accepted.
All sheep are to be tattooed in the ear with their breed societies registered trade mark. All exhibitors must comply with the specific regulations of their relevant Breed Society.
In the Shorn Classes, Long Wools shall have no more than 32mm of wool on any part of it’s body on judging day. Short wool sheep shall have no more than 19mm of wool on any part of it’s body on judging day.

REGULATIONS1. All entries must be made in WRITING on the Society’s Entry Form and lodged
with the Director, Ballarat, before 12 noon on the 8th July, 2016 on which day all entries for the Show will be finally closed and catalogued.
No Merino Sheep to be entered which has more than 12.5mm of wool as at the 15th August, in the preceding year.
2. The name, residence and district of the exhibitor, the breed of sheep he intends to exhibit, the name of the breeder, if known, the pedigree of the stock as far as known, and the date of shearing must be given in writing to the Director at the time of entry.
3. All sheep entered as unhoused may be housed during any time within one week after shearing, but shall not otherwise be housed or rugged in any way from the date of the previous shearing except from 1st June prior to the Show. All housed Merino and Poll Merino exhibits must have been inspected and tagged according to regulations.
4. All sheep lambed on and after 1st day of March 2015 shall be eligible to compete in Sections for Sheep under 1.5 years Sheep lambed on or after 1st day
of March 2014 and up to the 28th day of February 2015 shall be eligible to compete in the Sections for sheep over 1.5 and under 2.5 years, and so on for other ages.
5. In Merino Sections age will be determined by teeth in accordance with Stud Sheep Show Regulations.
6. All Merinos exhibited at the Show must now be micron tested in accordance with conditions of entry, as per the Victorian Stud Merino Breeders Minimum Standards
7. Each exhibit will be judged on its merits according to the Entry Form. Should the Judge consider the exhibit is not in keeping with the Entry Form, the matter must be referred to the Stewards, who will bring it before the Disputes Committee, and it shall be the duty of the Disputes Committee to call the owner or his representatives before them for explanation. In all sections the Judges must have a reserve number in case of disputes.
8. All stock exhibited shall be owned and bred by the exhibitor or his principal.9. A ticket will be delivered by the Director on or before the day of the Show to
the person in charge of each lot, on being received into the Showgrounds and no exhibit whatever can be allowed to enter without such ticket. Each entry ticket will have a number corresponding to a pen in which it is to be penned in the Exhibition Shed.

10. The competing exhibits will be classed and distinguished by tickets or numbers to be affixed to each lot immediately after they are placed in the Showgrounds. For any pen applied for by an exhibitor and allotted by this Society to such exhibitor, and which he shall fail to occupy with the exhibitor named on his entry form, he shall forfeit and pay three dollars ($3) to this Society for each pen left so unoccupied by him. Should any exhibitor desire to withdraw his exhibit or exhibits from competing at this Show he must give notice in writing of such withdrawal at least seven (7) days prior to the scheduled date of the Show.
The Stewards will note and report all unoccupied pens on the first day of the Show.
11 No change can, under any circumstances be made in the general regulations of the Society unless submitted to and approved of by a meeting of the Executive Committee and duly intimated to Competitors.
12. A Membership ticket may be obtained by each exhibitor either before or at the time of lodging his entry or entries for this Show with the Director. Members tickets for the current financial year may be obtained from the Director.
13. Exhibits which cannot be shown in any competing section may be exhibited as extras. All such exhibits must be entered on or before the Friday 8th July 2016.
14. An animal eligible to be shown for a prize cannot be shown as an extra.
15. All Merino, Corriedale, Polwarth and British Breed Sheep competing shall be ready for judging by 9am. on Sunday the 24th July 2016 with Poll Tickets attached, and all exhibits must be kept in their pens until 4 p.m. on the day.
16. In the Shorn Classes for British Breed Sheep they must be closely and evenly shorn on and before the 1st July 2016. No long wool sheep to have more than 32mm of wool on any part of its body on judging day, and no short wool sheep shall have more than 19mm of wool on any part of its body on judging day.
ANIMAL HEALTH REGULATIONS -17 No animal shall be permitted from a Flock or Property that has had
VIRULENT FOOTROT within the last 12 months.
18 JOHNES DISEASE: sheep can only be exhibited if they comply with current Victorian State Health Regulations and comply with ASBA regulations. Exhibitors should note that sheep will be penned with compliance to Government OJD regulations. All exhibitors must provide evidence of the current OJD status of their flock with entries to ensure that appropriate penning arrangements can be provided.

20 The Committee has the power to refuse admission to, or cause to be removed from the Show, any exhibit affected with any disease. Any sheep with ticks or lice on shall be reported to the Stewards by the Judges prior to the awards being made, and if in the opinion of the Stewards such sheep were tick or lice infected before being dispatched to the Show, same shall be removed from the Show floor. The Exhibitor of any exhibit disapproved of as an exhibit by the Committee or Stewards must immediately upon notice by the Director remove such exhibit from the Show.
21. Protest against awards based on non-compliances with the conditions of the prize list or regulations must be lodged with the Director within one hour of the determination of the award, or awards under protest, together with a $10 guarantee of the bona-fide of the protest. All protests will be judged by the Disputes Committee. The guarantee will be returned if in the opinion of the Disputes Committee, there are reasonable grounds for making the protest.
22. No person will be allowed to examine sheep until after the awards shall have been made. Any person found infringing this rule shall be expelled from the Showgrounds. If the weather be genial the Society will expect all exhibits of sheep to be left without fleece covers in the pen.
23. Three exhibits in each section or no prize, except in cases where the Judges think worthy.
24. Exhibitors are required to provide their own forage and water tins, which must be secured above floor level. . Animals must be delivered in clean transport.
25. Every possible care will be taken of all exhibits, but no responsibility will be incurred by the Society.
26. Any dispute as to the construction of these regulations shall be determined by the Sheep Show Committee.
27. ALL TROPHIES OF A PERPETUAL NATURE WILL BE RETAINED AT THE SHOWGROUNDS.
Prize Lists, Entry Forms, and other necessary information in connection with the Show may be obtained from the Administration Office.
