Natural VeneersEvery wood species has its own colour and grain. Theskillful use of the trees innate character creates veneersthat are entirely unique in structure and colour tone.

As wood matures, colour tones vary, as is the case with veneers. Differences in colour and character are inherent to wood’s attraction. However, certaininteriors aspire to create a stable and uniform impression which some natural veneers cannotprovide over wide areas. Most veneers can be book-matched.

Natural is our most popular wood veneer selection. These veneers possess all the beauty and character thatnature provides. The veneer’s colour tone matureswith time and thus no two veneers are exactly alike. They are natural and unique.

We can provide all types of individual specialsolutions. While you can choose from our veneers andcolours on this page, please be aware that there aremany other options available that are not shown inour standard range including Wenge, Ebony,Zebrano, Rosewood etc.

Woodfit Panel Finishes

Plain (Flat) SlicedThe half log, or flitch, is mounted with the heartside flat against the flitch table of the slicer and theslicing is done parallel to a line through the centreof the log. This produces a distinct figure.

Half-Round SlicedThis method of slicing is a variation of the rotarycutting in which segments of the log are mountedoff centre in the lathe. This results in a cut slightlyacross the annular growth rings and visually showsmodified characteristics of both rotary and plain-sliced veneers.

Rift CutRift cut veneer is produced in the various species ofOak. Oak has medullary ray cells which radiatefrom the centre of the log. The rift or comb graineffect is obtained by cutting at an angle of about15% off of the quartered position to avoid the flakefigure of the medullary rays. This accentuates thevertical grain and minimises the flake.

Quarter SlicedThe quarter log or flitch is mounted on the flitchtable so that the growth rings of the log strike theknife at approximately right angles, producing aseries of stripes, straight in some woods, varied inothers.

Rotary CutThe log is mounted centrally in the lathe andturned against a razor-sharp blade, like unwinding aroll of paper. Since the cut follows the log’s annulargrowth rings, a multi-patterned grain marking isproduced. Rotary cut veneer is exceptionally wide.
