Wristbands are required for the many activities offered at the South Lake Beach Club on the 4th (volley- ball tournament, carnival, bingo and boat races), but are not required for the Ralph J. Redington 5K/10K and Kids Run, and Wheels on Parade. Wristbands are available for purchase through the Association Office; please see page 13 for details. Ralph J. Redington 5K/10K Run and Kids Run 5K/10K: 7:15 a.m. Kids Run: Approx. 8:15 a.m. C alling all runners! Compete with your neighbors and friends in the annual 4th of July race. Once again, this year’s courses will start by the North Lake Gazebo on Barranca Parkway. The course is officially certified by TAC. Check-in time for the 5K and 10K runs is 6:30 a.m. The race will begin at 7:15 a.m. The Kids Run will begin at approximately 8:15 a.m. The entry fee for pre-registered Woodbridge residents participating in the 5K/10K is $20.00 per person, which includes an official race T-shirt, or $10.00 without the shirt. The entry fee for pre-registered non- residents is $25.00 per person, which includes a T-shirt, or $15.00 without the shirt. The entry fee for all participants regis- tering on the day of the race is $30.00 per person, which includes a T-shirt, or $20.00 without the shirt. The entry fee for the Kid’s Run is $10.00 per child, which includes a T- shirt, or $2.00 per child without the shirt. Entry forms can be picked up and dropped off at the Association Office through Wednesday, June 30th at 5:00 p.m. Entries after June 30th must be completed at the race site on the day of the race. Awards will be presented to first place fin- ishers only in each age division for both men and women, and to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall finishers in the Kids 1-mile run for boys and girls. The Association wishes to thank Woodbridge High School Track Coach George Varvas and his team for all their help. Wheels on Parade 10:00 a.m. O nce again, we will be holding the annu- al parade on Barranca Parkway between Lake and Creek Road. The parade will start and end on Barranca and Lake Road. The parade will go down Barranca and will make the turnaround at Creek and Barranca and march back down on the lake side of Barranca, allowing the spectators a better chance to see all of the creative floats. Non-motorized floats have been a big part of the Parade and are welcome to par- ticipate in the event. All floats are welcome. Bring your family and friends and gather your entire block together to create floats with a 4th of July theme. There are no size restrictions on the floats, but they must be able to pass under the bridge on Barranca Parkway. Please note: This year the Irvine Police Department has requested that no motor- ized vehicles be used during the parade. Calling all runners! Compete with your

neighbors and friends in the annual 4th

and Lake Road. The parade will go down

Barranca and will make the turnaround at

on the lake side of Barranca, allowing the

spectators a better chance to see all of the

creative floats.

Non-motorized floats have been a big

Carnival12:00 to 3:45 p.m.

Come on out to the South Lake Beach

Club parking lot to enjoy an old-fash-

ioned carnival with a Moon Bounce, an

obstacle course, a giant slide, and lots of

fun and exciting carnival games.

Tickets are required for all rides and

games. Tickets cost 25¢ each, or five for

$1.00.

Volleyball2:30 p.m. sign-upsMatches begin at approximately 3:00 p.m.

We will have co-ed teams with a limited

number of members playing at the

South Lake Beach Club. Each team must

have a minimum of two female players.

Entries will only be accepted at the Beach

Club volleyball courts on July 4th at 2:30

p.m. Play will begin immediately after with

teams doing their own officiating.

Get your neighbors together and show off

that winning style!

An award will be given to the first place

team.

Remember, this is a fun, family event

and is open on a first-come, first-served

basis.

Beach Chair B-I-N-G-O12:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Play BINGO from your beach chair! Once

again this year, BINGO can be played

right from your beach chair.

Imagine this scenario: You are lounging

at the Beach Club, enjoying the activities,

listening to your favorite tunes, and munch-

ing on your favorite snacks... suddenly, the

number you needed to win is called by the

host... you are the winner!

The first game will start at approximately

noon with games continuing throughout the

day. Two games will be played every hour

for a total of eight games. There will be a

cash prize awarded to one winner per game

(if there are two or more winners, they will

roll the dice and whoever has the highest

number wins). Don’t miss out! Come and

play BINGO with us!

Fireworks Display9:00 p.m.

Turn your attention skyward for the

pyrotechnical artistry of Pyro

Spectacular! This year’s display will again be

shot from the retention basin on the south

side (East Yale Loop and Springbrook

South) beginning at 9:00 p.m.

Ideal viewing will be from the south side

of Woodbridge, especially the South Lake

Beach Club. There are some areas inside

the South Lake Beach Club where your view

will be shielded. So remember to get out

early and pick your location either at the

Beach Club or around the Village!

Please note that the tennis court lights at South

Lake will be turned off at 8:30 p.m.

Boating12:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The South Lake dock is the location for

the sabot, canoe, pedal boat, and hydro-

bike competition. There will be several

heats in each event and sign-ups will be

taken at the dock house. Sign-ups for pedal

boat races will start at 11:45 a.m. and sign-

ups for other boating events will be taken

one hour prior to the event.

The order of events will be:

12:00 p.m............Pedal boats (2 per boat)

1:30 p.m. (approx).......Canoe (2 per boat)

2:30 p.m. (approx) ..................Hydro-bikes

(ages 12 and up)

4:00 p.m. (approx) .............................Sabot

(one per boat unless child is

accompanied by an adult)

*No boats will be available for rental at

the South Lake on the 4th of July.

he South Lake Lagoon will be closed

Saturday, July 3rd for maintenance and

setting up for the 4th activities. The South

and North Lake Beach Clubs will be closed

Monday, July 5th until noon for mainte-

nance.

Facility Note: There are a limited num-

ber of tables and reclining chairs at each

Beach Club. Due to the large attendance

at each club on the 4th, we ask that you

restrict your party to one table and a few

chairs. You are encouraged to bring extra

beach chairs with you to the Beach Clubs.

closed all day on the 4th due to

preparations for the fireworks show.

Wristband InformationF

ourth of July identification wristbands

are required for the activities listed pre-

viously, with the exception of the 5K/10K

and Kids Run, Wheels on Parade, and the

Tennis Tournament.

There will be 3,000 wristbands avail-

able for purchase at $8.00 each at the

Association Office when sales begin

Saturday, June 5th (children under 3 are

free). Wristbands are sold on a first-

come, first-serve basis to adult WVA

members with proper Facility ID only.

Residents may purchase as many wrist-

bands as they wish!

Wristbands will be sold at the South

Lake Beach Club on the 4th starting at

9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. or until sold out,

at a cost of $10.00 each – so buy yours

early and save!

Be sure to wear your wristbands on the

4th! Not only will it allow you entrance to

the day’s events, but it will also make you

eligible for prize drawings that will be held

throughout the day.

Registration for the 4th of July 5K/10K

Runs starts on June 5th and must be com-

pleted by June 30th at 5:00 p.m. Please call

the Association Office at 786-1800 if you

have any questions.

Traffic RestrictionsB

lue Lake North and South will be barri-

caded to traffic and parking between

South Wind and Rushing Wind from 7:00

a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on July 4th (residents

will not be allowed to drive into the imme-

diate South Lake Beach Club area except to

drop off coolers, etc.) Parking will be

allowed on Blue Lake South and North.

In compliance with the Orange County

Fire Officials, the Retention Basin

(Garden Club) and Wintermist Pool will

be closed all day July 4th.

Club, please call the Association Office at

location.
