A ONE-OFF GROUP EXHIBITION OF OVER FIFTY ARTISTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD
“We work in the dark - we do what we can - we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art.”
- The Middle Years, Henry James; 1893

The Cat Street Gallery is extremely proud to present its landmark, one-off 2013 exhibition, WONDERWORKS.Opening on 24 May in Hong Kong at The Space, this unique showcase of over fifty artists will feature artworks from Asia, America, Africa, the UK and Europe. Displaying a range of extraordinary talents, WONDERWORKS brings together a critically engaged survey of young and established artists practicing today. Each piece celebrates a different technique, concept or medium - from drawing to sculpture; neon to canvas; works on paper to video; taxidermy to found objects - bringing a very particular yet global taste of the ‘madness of art’ to Hong Kong.
“We work in the dark - we do what we can - we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art.”
- The Middle Years, Henry James; 1893
An extra bright light is shining on our city as the gateway to the art world in Asia, as the month of May brings Hong Kong’s annual international art fair. Known as the portal between the East and West, Hong Kong ranks among the world’s most dynamic international capitals and in light of this, Mandy d’Abo has been busy unearthing magical artworks from countries all over the world: South Africa, Thailand, Germany, Azerbaijan, South Korea, The Netherlands, Canada, Turkey, Australia and Hong Kong, to name but a few. Notions of home, homeland and cultural identity weave around and throughout the works, tying artists and practices together who might otherwise be miles apart.
The extraordinary WONDERWORKS will fuse d’Abo’s eye for style and her passion for finding talent among both established and emerging artists, whether from far away places or found right here in Hong Kong. These artists, some already represented by the gallery and others who are newly found, make up the genetics of this unmissable show, curated together in magical combinations to surprise, shock and delight.
