Division II Volleyball I. GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

A. The NCCAA DII Volleyball Sport Season and National Championship and all events related thereto are under the

control and supervision of the NCCAA DII Volleyball Coaches and are subject to standards developed by these coaches and subsequent approval of the NCCAA Board of Directors. These standards shall receive annual review and approval by the Championship Games Committee.

B. National Volleyball Committee 1. Composition and term of office

a. The National Volleyball Committee shall consist of the National Volleyball Chair (who shall chair the committee), the National Volleyball Vice-Chair, and the Regional Volleyball Chairs.

b. The term of office for Regional Volleyball Chairs shall be evaluated by the regional coaches according to their regional handbook.

c. The National Volleyball Chair shall serve a three-year term of office and shall be succeeded by the National Volleyball Vice-Chair.

2. Election a. The regional coaches shall conduct an election of the Regional Volleyball Chair to the National Volleyball

Committee at an appropriate time. b. If a vacancy occurs on the National Volleyball Committee, the National Volleyball Chair shall, upon

approval of the rest of the committee, appoint a replacement or conduct an election. 3. National Volleyball Committee members shall:

a. Represent the interests of the coaches and student-athletes to the National Volleyball Committee and the interests of the NCCAA to the coaches and student-athletes.

b. Propose revisions of national operating policies and procedures. c. Assist in solicitation of bids for future championship sites. d. Submit the top eight players in the respective regions as All-American nominees. e. Attend the Championship event to vote on All-Americans.

C. National Championship Committee 1. Membership

a. The committee shall be composed of the National Championship Director, the National Volleyball Chair or his/her appointee(s) from the National Volleyball Committee, and the head official.

b. If a member of the Championship Committee is directly or indirectly involved in a protest submitted, this individual shall be replaced by an appointee of the National Volleyball Chair (e.g. this may be an affiliation with one of the teams involved in a protest, or misconduct of an official of a protested game).

c. Three members must be present for action to be taken. 2. Responsibilities

a. Ethical behavior b. Observe the behavior of student-athletes, coaches, and other team personnel during the competitive events. c. Promote standards of ethical behavior during competitive events and throughout the National

Championship. This can be accomplished by general reminders to individual(s) and team(s) during the National Championship and reinforced by more specific communication. If unacceptable behavior occurs, this committee has the right and obligation to act on the issue. This may include a reprimand with official notice to the institution.

3. Protests a. Assure that protest procedures as indicated in the NCAA Rulebook have been followed. b. Act on all appropriate protests.

II. ELIGIBILITY A. Institutions must send an NCCAA form of eligibility for each team to the National Eligibility Chair no later than the

date of their first match or scrimmage. B. National dues must be paid in accordance with the respective deadlines and be sent to the NCCAA National Office.

C. All NCCAA member institutions must send to the National Office a completed Declaration of Intent to Participate form by August 31 for all varsity sports.

III. PLAYING RULES AND REGULATIONS

A. Official Rule Book

1. During the Division II NCCAA Volleyball National Championship, the rules shall be the official National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Volleyball Rules with NAIA Volleyball Coaches Association approved modifications.

2. Official National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Volleyball Rules with NAIA Volleyball Coaches Association approved modifications. To obtain rules, contact: NCAA, P.O. Box 6222, Indianapolis, IN 46206-6222.

B. Statistics 1. Statistics must be submitted to the NCCAA in the form of .XML game files, following the steps outlined on

www.thenccaa.org/helpcenter. Game files must be submitted to the NCCAA within 48 hours after the game. However, the mandatory deadline for weekly game files to be uploaded to the NCCAA website is Tuesday at noon (ET). Any amount of missing game files in a week shall count as a missed report. The penalties for not reporting statistics or for being late are: 1st offense=notice; 2nd offense=warning; 3rd offense=$100 fine paid before Regional Championships; 4th offense= a loss of postseason awards for the applicable athletes and/or team, the team shall become ineligible for statistical reports and ratings for the remainder of the season, and any further penalties at the discretion of the Administration Committee (i.e. ineligible for postseason play). It is the responsibility of each institution to contact the National Office regarding any technical problems experienced in submitting weekly statistics. Proper communication can eliminate team penalties.

2. National statistical reports shall be posted on the NCCAA website. 3. Statistics for eligible All-American nominations shall be submitted on the official All-American Statistical

Form (see Appendix A) to the National Chair by the Wednesday following the National Committee seeding conference call. The said report, ranking nominees in each category, shall be completed and sent to the Regional Sports Chairs no later than the Friday following the conference call.

C. Top 10 National Rankings

1. The Top 10 voting shall be conducted by the National Chair, in conjunction with regional representatives, and be reported to the NCCAA Director of Communications.

2. In Division II, each Regional Sport Chair shall be the region rater and voter, in addition to at-large voters (equally representing all four regions).

3. Regional raters are responsible for submitting region ratings to the National Chair, who shall then send out all region ratings to voters. Raters should include explanation/summary as to why teams are rated where they are. Raters may work to get feedback from region teams when developing the region ratings.

4. Regional raters shall then select the Top 10 teams nationally and send to the National Chair. The National Chair shall tally all votes and must send the final ranking along with each regional rating to the Director of Communications by 11:00 a.m. (ET) each Tuesday that has a ranking.

5. When casting votes for the national Top 10 Rankings, voters must follow the order of the regional ratings. 6. Ties shall be broken by:

a. Number of ballot appearances; b. Most votes in highest place; and c. Winning percentage. The team winning the tiebreaker shall receive one additional point.

7. There shall be bi-weekly rankings through the conclusion of the regular season, with a final postseason ranking the week following the National Championship.

8. National Office serves as the oversight committee.

D. Power Rating The power rating dates shall start four weeks prior to the week of the National Championship. There shall be a total of three weeks of power ratings. If a team has regular season games after the final power rating, the final power rating shall be updated with the additional regular season dates for the National Championship Committee to use in selection and seeding.

IV. GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR POSTSEASON COMPETITION

A. National Championship Date and Site 1. Date

The National Championship shall begin the Thursday of the third full week in November. 2. Regional Championships Date

a. The deadline for completion of Regional Championships is the Saturday ten days prior to the National Championship, unless by special permission from the National Chair and Vice-Chair.

b. Regions with dual members may need to schedule a later date to accommodate members who are still competing in NCAA or NAIA competition.

3. Site Requirements a. The site shall have at least two regulation playing courts. b. The NCCAA volleyball coaches can recommend the site at the National Coaches’ Meeting based on

evaluation of the bid form (see Forms & Procedures Section) submitted by the specific institution. c. The Host Institution must take total responsibility for the financial and organizational aspects of the

National Championship and follow the recommended NCCAA policies and procedures. d. The host institution shall take full responsibility to organize and oversee the Christian Service Project

(CSP). All participating teams shall participate. The CSP shall be fully explained to qualifying teams. 4. Bidding Procedure

a. Institutions shall submit the bid form (sample bid form found in the Forms & Procedures Section) to the National Office.

b. A copy of the bid shall be sent to the National Chair and Vice-Chair. c. The bid shall be reviewed by all the coaches at the National Coaches’ meeting and they shall make a

recommendation to the National Sports Chair and the National Office. If a bid comes later than this meeting, then a survey of coaches shall be taken if deemed necessary. A phone conference call with the sport leadership, the national office, and the bid applicant shall be held to discuss the bid in detail. A site visit shall be scheduled if deemed necessary. The final decision shall be made by the National Office in concert with the sport leadership.

B. Conduct of National Championship

1. The championship structure shall be determined by the number of declaring regions and follow the format below.

2. Eight-team championship – two pools of four teams, with the top two teams automatically advancing to semifinal play. Overall National Championship would then create semifinal seeding with the winner of Pool A playing the #2 team from Pool B. The winner of Pool B will play the #2 team from Pool A.

3. The seeding for the two pools shall be the following: Pool A: 1, 4, 5, 8 Pool B: 2, 3, 6, 7

4. Team selection and seeding shall be the responsibility of the National Volleyball Committee and shall be completed during the call-in conference call on the Sunday following the final Regional Championships as stated in Section I.B.

5. Guidelines a. The Championship shall not exceed three days. b. All matches shall be three out of five games. c. National championship pool play tie-breaking procedures

1) Overall match record. 2) Head to head competition. 3) Percentage of games won of those played among tied teams. (Total games won/total games played). 4) Percentage of points won in matches played among tied team. (Total points won/total points played). 5) Percentage of total games won. 6) Percentage of total points won. 7) Playoff procedure

a) When a three-way tie for second playoff berth: i. 3-0 ii. 2-1 iii. 1-2 iv. 0-3

b) The team judged to be superior by the procedure listed above shall be the bye team and shall play the winner of the game (25 points) between the two remaining teams (two 25 point games total).

c) When a three-way tie for the first place in the pool: i. 3-1 ii. 3-1 iii. 3-1 iv. 1-3 v. 0-4

d) The team judged to be superior by the procedure listed above shall be awarded first place and the first playoff berth. The other teams shall play one 25-point game for the remaining playoff position. An exception to this shall be if a flip of the coin must be used to determine the bye team. In that case, all teams must compete for the playoff positions as follows: i. Team blue wins over team white and gains one playoff berth (one game to 25 points). ii. Team red plays the loser, team white, for the second playoff berth (one game to 25 points

6. The official ball, Baden, shall be the championship ball as determined by the contractual agreement/commitment between the preferred vendor and the National Office.

7. Pre-Match Protocol The teams involved in the first set of matches for the National Championship shall have access to the playing courts no more than 60 minutes prior to the scheduled time of play. Succeeding teams shall have no more than 60 minutes and no less than 30 minutes of pre-match time on court.

8. Radio and Television Arrangements for radio and television are available through the NCCAA Executive Director’s predetermined rates, which are $100 per game or $250 per championship, and must be paid to the National Office prior to the first contest. Arrangements must be made at least one week in advance of the broadcast date. Due to the NCCAA contract with the NCCAA Network, no one is allowed to videotape any games or matches.

9. Expenses No entry fee shall be charged. After expenses, profits shall be divided among participating institutions according to their expenses

10. Officials a. Officials must possess at least an NAGWS/USA state/regional rating. For the championship match, a

national ranking must be held. b. The selection and assignment of officials shall be made by the National Championship Director in

consultation with the National Volleyball Chair. c. It is recommended that a minimum of six officials be used. d. Officials shall be required to attend all officials’ meetings at the National Championship, barring

extenuating circumstances. C. National Championship Team Selection

1. All NCCAA member institutions must send to the National Office a completed Declaration of Intent to Participate form by August 31 for all varsity sports.

2. The National Volleyball Chair shall arrange a National Championship seeding conference call with the National Volleyball Committee on the Sunday following the final Regional Championship as stated in Section I.B. to decide the at-large berths and the seeding of the National Championship. The call shall be made at 9:00 p.m. (ET) (see Forms & Procedures Section).

3. Teams not assigned to a region (e.g. west coast members) shall be deemed qualified to participate in the National Championship if they meet all of the following criteria: a. Win the designated Regional Championship game (if more than one team is participating). b. Have a .400 winning percentage for the varsity season (not including scrimmages or exhibitions). c. Be in the Top 10 of the NCCAA Power Rating (see Appendix E).

4. The at-large request to be considered for the NCCAA National Championship is on the Declaration of Intent to Participate. Athletic Directors can list the conditions by which they shall accept at-large spots on the Declaration of Intent to Participate. To be considered for an at-large, an institution must have played in the NCCAA regional playoffs or been exempt due to NCAA or NAIA conflicts.

5. At-large berths shall be selected by the National Volleyball Committee and the National Championship Director, using the following criteria: a. Consideration of the NCCAA Power Rating System for teams in question. b. The strength of the teams in question, based on season record and caliber of teams played. c. The strength of the region based on previous championship play and region number. d. If two teams are considered equally capable, consideration shall be given to the team which has not

received previous at-large representation.

6. The DII Women’s Volleyball body shall continue to seed the National Championship with a two seeded field, if necessary. The conference call for seeding shall continue on the same calendar date. By Saturday prior to the National Championship, all participating teams shall be declared and the seeding shall be final. To give representation to the Region of the dually affiliated champion, the chair of that region may offer an at-large bid. This at-large bid shall be given the same criteria consideration as the other at large bids. All dually affiliated teams with conference commitments must disclose their commitments at the time of the seeding call so that a second field can be seeded that considers dual division members (NCAA DII or III or NAIA).

7. Seeding for the National Championship a. The Regional Sports Chairs shall be responsible to send the following information to the National

Volleyball Chair who, in turn, shall compile and pass the information along to the National Office ([email protected]) prior to the Sunday conference call: 1) Regional winner 2) Any at-large bids 3) Other information that might be helpful in seeding

b. Regional Sports Chairs must send all region brackets (two weeks before regionals) and results to both the NCCAA National Office as well as the National Volleyball Chair as soon as results are known.

8. Criteria for seeding shall be the NCCAA Power Rating System, along with regional and inter-regional play results. Power rating information is found in Appendix E.

9. Each team that declares to participate in NCCAA postseason competition shall submit a high resolution team photo and a completed roster to the championship host no later than October 1 of each year.

V. AWARDS

The National Championship team shall receive a championship banner, medallions, and t-shirts. Teams finishing second through fourth shall receive a plaque designating their finish. The NCCAA maintains a standardized awards program for all National Championships. Team, Most Outstanding Player, National Coach of the Year, and All-American awards are ordered and paid for by the National Office.

A. All-Tournament Team

1. An All-Tournament Team of six players plus one Most Valuable Player shall be honored at the championship. a. In conjunction with the National Chair and Vice-Chair, the Championship Director shall be responsible for

ballots distributed to national championship coaches, who may vote for six players. b. Ballots shall be collected by the Championship Director prior to the championship game. c. The individuals with the highest total shall comprise the All-Tournament Team. The individual receiving

the highest total shall be the Championship Most Valuable Player. d. Votes shall be tabulated by the Championship Director and two worthy witnesses.

2. The All-Tournament Team shall be announced prior to the championship awards. 3. An NCCAA award shall be awarded to each selected player.

B. Championship Awards

An NCCAA Championship Team award shall be given to individual members of the Championship team.

C. DII Volleyball-Game Plan 4 LIFE (GP4L) Character Award 1. Purpose

The purpose of this award is to honor, each year, the outstanding Division II women’s volleyball player selected from the NCCAA member institutions. The award shall be presented at the awards ceremony of the National Championship and the National Office shall order and pay for the award. The recipient should give forth their best effort to be present during the awards ceremony.

2. Criteria: The award recipient must: a. Be a team member of an NCCAA institution in good standing. b. Demonstrate a clear Christian testimony on and off the court. c. Demonstrate Christian service during her student-athlete career. d. Demonstrate excellence in skills and leadership ability. e. Demonstrate excellent academic standing. f. Be junior, senior, or graduate status.

3. Procedures a. Student-athletes must be nominated by the head coach or Sports Information Director (SID). Only one

nominee allowed per institution.

b. The nomination form (Appendix D) must be used and submitted to the Division II National Volleyball Chair by October 15.

4. Selection Selection committee includes the National Chair, Vice-Chair, and Regional Sports Chairs.

D. All-American Selections

1. The top seven players nominated for All-American consideration from each region shall be brought to the National Volleyball Committee meeting. All-American candidates shall be submitted on the All-American Statistical Form (Appendix A) by the Wednesday prior to the National Championship.

2. The National Volleyball Committee selects the following from the field of entries (see Appendix F): a. National Player of the Year b. National Coach of the Year (see above) c. The top seven players elected to First Team. d. The top 8-14 players elected to Second Team. e. American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) shall honor the seven First Team and seven Second

Team Division II All-Americans for only those selected individuals whose head coaches are current AVCA members. In conjunction with Division I, an NCCAA-AVCA Coach of the Year and Player of the Year shall be selected by Tuesday following the Division I championship.

f. There shall be an NCCAA representative (National Office personnel or Administration Committee member) in the room or on the call for the voting to oversee that the process is followed.

g. Copies of the voting procedure shall be provided to each voting member of the committee at least a week before the vote.

E. National Coach of the Year

1. National Coach of the Year award (submitted by Athletics Director of nominated coach to respective Regional Volleyball Chair) to the coach voted by the National Volleyball Committee using the following criteria: a. Coaching Aptitude b. Christian Character c. Leadership d. Contribution to the NCCAA

2. Each Regional Coach of the Year is eligible. Forms are due to the National Chair before the All-American meeting at the National Championship.

F. AVCA Assistant Coach of the Year

Nominees would come from all NCCAA Division II members in good standing with the NCCAA and AVCA. Nominee must be a member of the AVCA and the DII selection will be voted on along with the NCCAA Division I selection for one combined AVCA recognized award.

G. Scholar-Athletes Awards (see Forms & Procedures Section) This form must be sent to the National Office via Teamworks four weeks prior to the start of the National Championship. However, due to using recorded Spring GPA’s, institutions are encouraged to submit forms as early as September.

VI. MISCELLANEOUS A. NCCAA Certified Athletic Trainer Policy

Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is required at each hosted NCCAA Member home event, NCCAA Regional Championship, and National Championship. For hosted contest in cross country, golf, and tennis, institutions may have a trainer able to respond within three to five minutes or athletic personnel with training in CPR, AED usage, first aid, and prevention of disease transmission present at the event. The ATC must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), or an equivalent affiliation, and maintain a current license in the state of practice. Please reference the policy in the Forms and Procedures Section Item.39.

B. Code of Conduct Conduct in competition policy found in Infractions and Penalties Section II.F. shall be followed by all NCCAA-only institutions during regular season and postseason competition. It shall be followed by all NCCAA institutions for Regional and National Championship competition. Any coach or student-athlete ejected from play shall be subject to penalties found in this policy. It is the responsibility of the offending institution to provide a report to its Regional

Coordinator within five days of the incident. Please see the Infractions and Penalties Section noted above for more details related to the Code of Conduct in Competition Policy.

C. Meetings 1. A meeting for championship officials, with the National Championship Director and National Volleyball Chair,

shall be scheduled prior to the championship. 2. A meeting for championship coaches to discuss matters pertaining to the championship shall be scheduled prior

to the opening match(es). 3. The National Volleyball Coaches’ Meeting, open to all Division II volleyball coaches, shall be scheduled prior

to the championship with agenda set forth by the National Chair, including said requested items received from Division II coaches.

4. The National Volleyball Committee Meeting, open only to the committee members or their appointees, shall be for the purpose of selecting All-Americans, National Player of the Year, and National Coach of Year awards (based on National Office approval of these awards).

D. National Championship Director 1. The Championship Director plans the Championship, with the approval of the National Volleyball Chair and the

Director of Membership & Compliance 2. Sends all Championship information and deadline dates to the Regional Championship Directors, Regional

Volleyball Chairs, and National Volleyball Chair. 3. Is a member of the conference call, arranged by the National Volleyball Chair and in concert with the Director

of Membership & Compliance (see Forms & Procedures Section). 4. Submits a completed Championship Reporting Form (see Forms & Procedure Section), in duplicate, to the

National Volleyball Chair and the Director of Membership & Compliance within ten days of the event. E. Duties of the National Volleyball Chair

1. Perform duties as listed in the Forms and Procedures Section. 2. Communicate with the National Volleyball Committee on issues requiring its input.

F. All policies are in keeping with the NCCAA Division II Official Handbook.

Appendix A, Page Two Division II Volleyball Statistics Guidelines

ATTACK ATTEMPT is charged to a player any time the player attempts to hit the ball over the net into the opponent’s

court. The ball may be spiked, set, tipped, or hit as an overhead contact. Any ball that is played over the net in an attempt to score a point or a side-out should be considered an attack. Any ball played over the net simply to keep the ball alive should not be considered an attack attempt.

KILL is awarded to a player any time an attack is not returnable by the opposition or any time the attack leads directly to

a blocking error by the opposition. A kill leads directly to a point. ATTACK ERROR is charged to a player whenever an attack is: hit out of bounds; hit into the net leading to a four hit

violation; blocked down by opposition to the same side as the attacker (and cannot be kept in play) and if the hitter nets, makes a center line violation, is called for an illegal contact on the antenna, or hits the ball into the antenna.

ASSIST ATTEMPT is awarded whenever that player passes or sets the ball to an attacker who subsequently attacks the

ball or attempts to keep it in play. ASSIST is awarded whenever that player passes or sets the ball to a teammate who attacks the ball for a kill. A player

cannot have more assists than kills. SERVICE ACE is a serve that results directly in a point. SERVICE ERROR is charged to a player if the serve hits the net or fails to clear the net, the serve is out of bounds or

hits the antenna, the server foot-faults or takes too much time, or the player serves out of rotation. RECEPTION ERROR is charged to a player if the serve strikes the floor in the area of the player, the player passes the

serve but it cannot be kept in play by her team, or the player is called for a reception violation by the official (i.e. “lift”).

DIG is awarded to a player whenever she passes a ball that has been attacked by the opposition and it is kept in play.

The pass or play of any ball that is attacked is awarded a dig. The ball can be kept in play on the digger’s side of the net or returned to the opposition.

BLOCK SOLO is awarded to a player whenever the player blocks the ball into the opposition’s court, leading directly

to a point. BLOCK ASSIST is awarded to each player whenever two or three players block the ball into the opponent’s court for a

point, even if only one player actually blocks the ball. BLOCK ERROR is charged whenever a blocker is called for netting, line violation, back row blocker, or reaching over

the net.

Appendix D Division II Volleyball Game Plan 4 LIFE (GP4L) Character Award

Purpose: The purpose of this award is to honor, each year, the outstanding Division II women’s volleyball player selected from the NCCAA member institutions. The award shall be presented at the awards ceremony of the National Championship and the National Office shall order and pay for the award. The recipient should give forth their best effort to be present during the awards ceremony.

A. Criteria: The award recipient must:

1. Be a team member of an NCCAA institution in good standing. 2. Demonstrate a clear Christian testimony on and off the court. 3. Demonstrate Christian service during her student-athlete career. 4. Demonstrate excellence in skills and leadership ability. 5. Demonstrate excellent academic standing. 6. Be junior, senior, or graduate status.

B. Procedures

1. Student-athletes must be nominated by the head coach or Sports Information Director (SID). Only one nominee allowed per institution.

2. The nomination form (Appendix D, page 2) must be used and submitted to the Division II National Volleyball Chair by October 15.

C. Selection 1. Selection committee includes the National Chair, Vice-Chair, and Regional Sport Chairs; 2. The committee shall perform a final review of candidates and select a recipient during the National Volleyball

Committee meeting held annually at the National Championship.

D. The recipient of the GP4L award shall subsequently be a nominee for the year end NCCAA GP4L Student-Athlete Character Award. It is encouraged that one letter of recommendation from an Athletic Director, opponent coach, or member of the institution faculty or staff be included with the nomination.

II. POWER POINTS A. The sum of the criteria of Nos. 1-3, multiplied by the sum of Nos. 4-5 determines power points for a game. The

maximum points for a contest is 17.5 (win on the road against .667 or better NCAA I Top 25 team). The minimum points for a game is -6.75 (loss at home against .332 or lower other countable opponent).

B. The power rating is determined by adding the power points for the regular season and dividing by the number of games (to the third decimal place). Postseason contests shall not be included.

III. FORFEITS Forfeits awarded after a contest has been started and/or completed shall count toward power ratings (e.g. ineligible

player, conduct issues, etc.). Forfeits awarded for games not played shall not count toward power ratings (e.g. teams not showing up, not honoring contracts, etc.).

IV. REPORTING

The National Office shall calculate each school’s power rating. Each institution and region is responsible for reviewing the release to ensure their rating’s accuracy. See sport handbooks for reporting dates and how power ratings are used within each sport. Power ratings shall be released by Tuesday evening per each sport’s reporting dates. See region handbooks for how ratings are used within the region. Visit www.thenccaa.org/handbook. In order to be included in NCCAA power ratings reports, institutions must meet the minimum game requirements for that sport.

Note: These Power Ratings are designed to measure past performance, not necessarily to predict future outcomes. *Opponent’s winning percentage and national ranking shall be through the Sunday before the reporting date. National rankings only include teams within the rankings. Teams who receive votes are not considered ranked. **NAIA I & II Basketball shall be removed in 2020-2021 academic year. All NAIA sports shall be on line c. at that time. ^Other countable opponents must be an NCCAA countable game per definition in Frequency of Contest section of the NCCAA Handbook.

Appendix F DII Women’s Volleyball All-American Selection Procedure

A. Nominations

1. Regions, via the Regional Chair, shall decide who is nominated for All-Regional Teams. The top seven players from each region shall then be submitted for All-American consideration.

2. The coaches/Regional Sports Chairs shall ensure that the statistics listed are the final/most updated statistics.

B. Teams The All-American Team shall be comprised of 14 total players. Players ranked 1-7 shall be placed on the First Team, and players ranked 8-14 shall be placed on the Second Team.

C. Meeting The All-American Team selection meeting shall be held on Wednesday of the National Championship.

D. Committee Structure for Voting The committee shall comprise of the four Regional Chairs and the National Chair. In addition, two to four additional voters shall be added to the committee by the National Chair from the following: 1) a representative from the National Office; and 2) an additional coach(es) from the National Championship with an effort to have equal balance from each region. The maximum total shall be eight voting members on the committee.

E. Selection Process 1. The selection shall take place by a written vote sent via electronic method or in the meeting.

a. The process starts with Player of the Year, selecting from the four MVP’s from each region. Once the committee selects the Player of the Year, then the remaining MVP’s shall be considered for the First Team.

b. The committee shall then review each of the second ranked players from the regions, then the third ranked players, and so on. Each Regional Chair shall be allowed to speak about the players followed with a group discussion, looking at statistics, then placing the players on the First or Second Teams.

c. If a decision cannot be made to place a particular player on the First or Second Team, an anonymous vote shall be held.

d. Region Chairs may vote for their own player and players from their region with every attempt to remain objective in the process.

2. The criteria considered in the selection process shall include statistics, academic standing, and Christian character.

3. The committee shall select the best players overall making sure there is at least one setter/libero on the First Team and that there is balanced representation within both teams.

4. Not all Regional Players of the Year will automatically be placed on the First Team. Each player shall be compared regarding their criteria then placed accordingly.

F. Coach of the Year The committee shall use the Coach of the Year Nomination Form from the NCCAA Handbook and require that each nominee is the Coach of the Year from their respective region. A vote shall be taken as a group on the four nominations. If a nominee serves on the committee, he/she shall be recused from the vote and the remaining committee members shall vote to determine the Coach of the Year.
