Dear Members,

Opportunity is a word I use to describe our wonderful club. We have the

opportunity to enjoy our friends, make new friends, try new things, to go new places, and enjoy all of our familiar favorites too! What other club offers their members so much? Last month's General Meeting let us learn about some of the many volunteer opportunities (yes, there is that word again!) available in our community. I'm looking forward to volunteering at several of them, as well as, supporting the on-going charitable drives Janice Shea organizes for us. Writing holiday letters to our service members and donating winter coats appeals to me! Get out your calendars! Our holiday festivities are just around the corner. I am looking forward to the Holiday Gala on December 6 and the Holiday Luncheon on December 12 so I can get in the holiday spirit! Margaret and her creative committee have been hard at work to make this year's Gala extra special! Not to be outdone, Kitty, Sandra and their band of merry helpers have lined up festive singers and decadent decor! RSVP early and send in your checks!! Best,

Susan

PROFILE OF THE MONTH VICKI SMITH

My name is Vicki Smith. I moved to Virginia in 2011 from Reno,

Nevada. I live in Leesburg with my daughter and her family. I am a

retired preschool teacher. I have four children and six grandchildren.

Presently, I am creating my Secret Garden in our new home. It’s been

fun watching my two little granddaughters as we make the changes in

our landscaping. One of our attractions in our Secret Garden is our

rock garden transported to Virginia on the moving truck. Collecting

rocks was my and my husband’s hobby. In October I will be heading

for Alaska for my grandson’s wedding. I am so looking forward to it.
