LEASING
Pop-up shops have proven to be a popular concept overseas over
recent years and is an emerging trend in Australia used to build
brand awareness, launch a new product or test a consumer market.
Wollongong Central has various pop-up leasing sites, located in
variety of key precincts across three buildings, providing you the
opportunity to show case your product or service.
Benefits of a pop-up store:
Access to a new audience: Pop-up space is a great way for you
to take a product from online to real world or beyond the
immediate catchment of your existing premises.
Test a business idea: Pop-up space is a great way to test your
product with less risk.
Expand your market: Pop-up space is a great way to promote
your brand name to a broader audience at mass, or target a
specific new audience.
Make your brand stand out at Wollongong Central
WOLLONGONG CENTRAL – HEART OF THE GONG
Wollongong Central is located in the heart of Wollongong and is the
only regional shopping centre located in its Main Trade Area. Servicing
the community since 1975, Wollongong Central is home to Myer,
Target, Coles, Rebel, JB Hi-Fi Home, Best & Less, Club Lime and over
220 leading specialty retailers.
In late 2014, GPT completed a $200 million expansion of Wollongong
Central, adding an additional 18,000sqm of new retail space over three
levels. Introducing 80 new retailers, the redefined retail mix within each
building and precinct showcases a dynamic range of great food-on-the-
go, café and street-front dining options, sought-after fashion,
contemporary home wares and cutting-edge technology from national
and local brands.
As well as retail space, the expansion also included 650 new car
spaces, bring the total to over 2,000 car spaces available in the CBD.
The expansion created a renewed social heart as well as a retail
destination that combines architecture, art and culture.
WHY
‘THE GONG’?
Wollongong is located just 90 minutes drive south of Sydney’s CBD. In 2015, there were
more than 12 million visitors to Wollongong Central and the future is looking even
brighter. Retail expenditure for the Total Trade Area is currently $3.3 billion per annum as
at June 2015. The Centre’s Total Trade Area is 291,556 and the Main Trade Area
population is estimated at 178,229, made up of 97,447 in the Primary Trade Area. There
are approximately 12,000 businesses located in the Wollongong CBD, employing up to
28,000 workers. A recent shift toward a more skilled and adaptable work force has seen
an increase in the white-collar worker.
The education sector is also growing at an impressive rate, with The University of
Wollongong internationally recognised and twice-named Australian University of the
Year. Also enhancing Wollongong’s growth is its rich sense of community and cultural
heritage, with more than 30 different cultures and 20 religious backgrounds calling the
area home.
