First and Foremost . . . Reliability

• Reference Series solutions are extremely rugged, designed for exceptionally long system and lamp life

• Heat kills projectors! Think of our projectors as already built “in soffit,” with custom air duct channels, temperature sensors and multiple fans (both internal and external) to control airflow over mission critical components

• As a result, Wolf Cinema projectors run much cooler than competitive platforms: our high heat emitting xenon platforms typically run in the low-to-mid 40-degree Celsius range (~120 degrees Fahrenheit)

Illuminated by Cermax® Xenon Arc Lamps

• All Wolf Cinema Reference Series projectors are illuminated by state-of-the-art Cermax Xenon Arc Lamps – the lamp types most commonly used in commercial film and digital cinemas

• Wolf Cinema Cermax Xenon lamps deliver the highest video image fidelity possible, with accurate color temperature renderings and wide dynamic range

• The unique chassis cooling structures built into every Wolf Cinema projector enable us to achieve up to 4000 hours lamp life – nearly double the effective lamp life in similar competitive platforms!

Wolf Cinema – High Fidelity Film™

Illuminated by Cermax® Xenon Arc Lamps

• Wolf Cinema’s xenon projection lamps use ionized xenon gas to produce a bright white light that closely mimics natural daylight, making it easier to achieve extremely accurate color reproduction

• Most other home theatre projectors use metal halide lamps, typically UHP lamp modules (important note: metal halide lamps are significantly red deficient)

• The amazing color purity, white field uniformity and deep contrast renderings from a Wolf Cinema projector with a Cermax Xenon Arc Lamp must be seen to be truly appreciated

Page 20: Wolf Cinema – founded by SUMIKO and based in Berkeley, CA – is delivering some of the finest home theater projectors and video processors available

Wolf Cinema – High Fidelity Film™

Illuminated by Cermax® Xenon Arc Lamps

• Wolf Reference Series projectors incorporate a unique Wolf Lamp Intensity (WLI) circuit

• This circuit continually monitors, and compensates for, minute changes on the illuminating surface of the lamp. After the projector is calibrated, the WLI circuit continues to track changes in peak white levels, constantly adjusting voltage and maintaining lamp output fidelity at the calibration levels

• As the lamp degrades over time, lamp drive voltage will be increased to ensure the highest quality, most uniform image possible

VariScope™ - Wolf Cinema’s proprietary lens zoom/focus memory system

With Wolf’s unique VariScope system, the wide variety of television and film aspect ratios including 1.33:1, 1.78:1 (16x9), 1.85:1, 2.0:1, 2.2:1, 2.35:1, 2.40:1 and more can be instantly retrieved from the projector’s system memory

This simplifies installation and client usage when enjoying content on constant height, wide aspect ratio screens.

VariScope™ - Wolf Cinema’s advanced lens zoom/focus memory system

The Problem: whenever we display “Scope” or widescreen film images on a standard 1.78:1 (16/9) screen, we end up with undesirable “black bars” at the top and bottom of the screen.

On such 1.78:1 screens, one ends up with a significantly smaller viewable image (~30%), less light output and a reduction of total system dynamic range (i.e., contrast ratio).

Page 24: Wolf Cinema – founded by SUMIKO and based in Berkeley, CA – is delivering some of the finest home theater projectors and video processors available

Wolf Cinema – High Fidelity Film™

Variscope™ - Wolf Cinema’s advanced lens zoom/focus memory system

Most home theater projectors [including our entry level systems] will use an external anamorphic lens to achieve a constant image height, enabling three basic aspect ratios: 1.33:1 (4/3), 1.78:1 (16/9) and full width 2.35/2.40:1 CinemaScope® theater images.

1.78:1 2.35/2.40:11.33:1

Page 25: Wolf Cinema – founded by SUMIKO and based in Berkeley, CA – is delivering some of the finest home theater projectors and video processors available

Wolf Cinema – High Fidelity Film™

When using anamorphic lenses, the image must first be “processed” or “distorted” electronically [the unwanted black bars are shifted out of range]

Page 26: Wolf Cinema – founded by SUMIKO and based in Berkeley, CA – is delivering some of the finest home theater projectors and video processors available

Wolf Cinema – High Fidelity Film™

A cinema-grade anamorphic lens is then deployed to restore the proper image geometry on a ‘Scope screen

Wolf Cinema is able to achieve much high voltage output [thus greater peak white performance] due to the liquid-cooled engine design.

A small mini-radiator, pump and whisper fan are combined to draw airflow through the projector and deliver cooling glycol to the emitter packs.

This design optimizes the system operating temperatures of all primary heat-generating components and insures long system life.

DCL-200NXAdvanced LED Home Theater Projectors

The three primary R-G-B LED emitters and OSRAM drive components convert high voltage into visible light waveforms.

The emitters fire onto a single chip, Texas Instruments DarkChip DLP®

The result is an exceptionally wide color space and pure color performance, even exceeding the HD Rec709 color space. The Wolf Cinema LED projectors can also display Adobe™ color space images for the photographic enthusiast.

Wolf Cinema – High Fidelity Film™

Wolf Cinema’s V4K™ Imaging Technology [3840 x 2160 resolution]

Originally developed by Japan's NHK Engineering and the Victor Company of Japan [JVC] and also called “e-shift” elsewhere, this unique technology implementation by Wolf Cinema delivers an image with 4 times the pixel density of standard 1920 x 1080 sources.

The original 1080p signal is first processed with an advanced imaging algorithm to improve edge transitions, eliminates aliasing and stair-stepping, and increase contrast level performance within each video frame. Each frame is then temporally separated into two sub-frames [at 1920 x 1080 pixels each] and projected through the D-ILA engine and the V4K™processing panel.

This panel utilizes a property of liquid crystals called birefringence and can rapidly switch between straight light and refracted light by 0.5 pixel, shifted both vertically and horizontally. New “sub pixels” are thus generated based on this process and a true 3840 x 2160 video frame is displayed.

Amazingly this process has no moving parts and results in a smooth, film-like image with minimal visible pixel structure.
