Title: Memory leak in BTS, causing spontaneous BTS restart Version of the SW-build: WN6.0 PP0.1 (WN6.0 19.5-158_C) Valid for Product(s): Flexi WCDMA BTS References: Reason for the Change Note: Problem: Memory leak in BTS, causing spontaneous BTS restart. Root cause: ALMAG (antenna line management) was not ready to handle bad case in device scanning. It occurs when devices on one antenna line with address assignment still replies on scanning messages. It leads to very high and expanded binary tree which consumed more and more memory. Correction: The correction is that there could be max 20 devices on one antenna line, binary tree height is 152, so no it might be 20 * 152 = 3040 max scanning messages sent and scanning is stopped. Root cause: Problem1: When congestion is detected on Iub, congestion control does not allocate credits for inactive users. Because of averaging/rounding in SW, sometimes low data rate users on a narrow Iub case may end up being determined as inactive even if there were PDU arrivals recently. Problem2: Secondly, the calculated credits were not updated to users unless they were selected for credit reduction.

Corrections: Correction1: After the correction the user is considered active if it has had data waiting to be transmitted in RNC user buffer during last 80ms. Correction2: After the correction: the calculated credits are updated without credit reduction multiplier in case they were not selected for credit reduction.

Version of the SW-build: WN6.0 MP1 (WN6.0 19.5-179) Valid for Product(s): Flexi WCDMA Base Station References: Reason for the Change Note: Problem: BTS allocates HSDPA credits too aggressively on narrow Iub bandwidth causing rapid increase in A2SP data queue. Root cause: SW bug in TUP SW negated the effect of a credit calculation ramp-up term which should limit the amount of credits (MAC-d PDUs) per user to increase according to amount of MAC-d PDUs received from the Iub interface. Correction: After the correction the maximum credits per user can be up to 2 * received_PDUs + 10. This is rather aggressive ramp-up which adapts to different Iub capacities. In order to keep a good performance with interactive traffic and in beginning of the connection, in case of short gaps in the data transmission, this term does not immediately revert to initial value (10) but is slowly decreased during gaps.
