FORMAT AND STRUCTURE

The WMP is run over nine terms of twelve weeks each, over 27 months. First and second academic year has four terms each. However, the third academic year has only one term. In the first five terms, a student is required to complete specified number of compulsory course credits called core courses. The last four terms involve elective courses, where students may choose from three to four elective courses every term to obtain 13 credits of coursework. Each credit of coursework involves thirty hours of classroom contact.

The normal time to complete the requirements for the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management for Working Executives is 27 months. However, students who fail to meet the prescribed minimum attendance or academic standards due to extenuating circumstances may be allowed two more contiguous years if WMP committee so recommends, and can complete the Program in five years maximum overall duration.

During Terms VII to IX, students taking a term break can rejoin in the same year in the next term and obtain required credit with students of junior batch during subsequent terms in the same year. Since Term IX ends in September every year, two more terms of course can be availed for obtaining the required credits within the same academic year. Pacing out of program can also be done if student declares prior to the Term (during Terms VII-IX), that only two credits will be attempted in the coming term. Students with a break during the first six terms, need to rejoin in the next academic year.

Thursdays and Fridays: 6.15 pm - 9.30 pm; Saturdays: 2.30 pm - 9.30 pm.

TIME TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAMME

CLASS SCHEDULE

SYSTEM OF EVALUATION

A 10-point letter grade scale from A+ (10 Points) to F (0 point) is finally used in each course to measure academic performance. At the end of each term a Term Grade Point Average (TGPA) to reflect the Term performance and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) as a composite index to reflect the cumulative performance of a student up to that Term are calculated. There are three to four credits of course work in each term. At the end of first academic year, and subsequently at the end of each Term, a student’s academic performance must be above the minimum required CGPA to be eligible for promotion to the next year or term.

Electives are offered from all the functional areas such as Marketing, Finance and Accounts, Strategy, Operations, Information Management, Human Resources, etc. Students have to obtain at least thirteen course credits from elective courses. Four electives from a given area are required to specialize in that area, in addition to the general management focus of the overall program. In keeping that focus, though the first two graduating batches have shown an average subscription of around four courses in strategy, finance or marketing, they have also opted for courses in HR and operations, IT and other general management areas such as carbon markets, to fulfill their own unique needs and desired blend of management skills.
