feet long, and available at lumber yards at about $.08 apiece. About 30 sticks are sufficient. Regular rubber bands were used.

What learning was involved?

Mathematics: two-dimensional shapes (triangle, square, pen- tagon, and others), three-dimensional shapes (tetrahedron, octahe- dron, cube, and others), symmetry of figures, counting edges, corners, faces.

Physics: rigidity of the triangle as

used in bridges, build- ings.

Art: positioning shapes, sym- metry (one could cover these shapes with crepe paper).

Language Arts: Joey wrote about what he did and read his story.

Problem Solving: problem solving that in- volved concentration and freedom.

Correction and Apology! In the NCTM section of the January

1970 issue of this journal, part of the biographical information for Jo Anne S. Taber (a 1970 nominee for director) was erroneously credited to Leroy Sachs.

We apologize to both nominees for this unfortunate mistake, and here reprint that part of Miss Taber' s biographical informa- tion that was misplaced.
