The tool spindles built into theMIKRON HPM series have beenpurposefully designed to meet highperformance expectations. The resultis performance and torque even athigh speeds.

Whichever machine configuration youchoose, with a MIKRON HPM you getthe most state-of-the-art tool spindletechnology: vector control for fulltorque in the lower speed range,highly stable ceramic hybrid spindlebearing, and spindle casing coolingusing a controlled coolant system forconsistent temperatures for the entireduration of the work.

The complexly developed inline toolspindles from StepTec are designedwith high torques for the removal oflarge chip volumes. This spindle par-ticularly stands out due to its easy-to-maintain construction and automatic-ally oil/air lubricated ceramic hybridbearing system.

All tools visibleThe entire front of the tool magazineis made of glass so that all of thetools are visible. Damaged tools canbe quickly identified and replaced. Iftools are required on other machines,you can see straight away where eachtool is.Access to up to 10 tool locations permagazine movement facilitates andconsiderably reduces the placementtime.

Smooth and swiftThe magazine chain is moved andpositioned by a controlled drive. Thetools therefore glide swiftly andsmoothly to the changing position.This means that tools can be madeavailable much more quickly.Vibrations that could have a negativeimpact on the milling process are alsoprevented.

The storage compartmentmakes it easier for tools tobe loaded and unloaded, asthey can be depositedoutside the tool magazine.

Length controlTools that are too long may beinserted, but the magazine door willnot close.

High-Speed and High-Performance Milling Centers

In terms of cutting speed, HSM centers are 10 times faster thanconventional milling machines. Greater accuracy and a better surfacefinish are also achieved. This means that even tempered materials canbe machined to a condition where they are largely ready to use. Oneessential advantage of HSM is that with systematic integration, theprocess chain can be significantly shortened. HSM has developedalongside EDM into one of the key technologies in mold and tool making.

Electric Discharge Machines

EDM can be used to machine conductive materials of any hardness (for example steel or titanium) to an accuracy of up to one-thousandth of a millimeter with no mechanical action.
