WiP - Wireless internet Platform

The platform WIP was developed to allow for complete and accurate ma-nagement by a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) of his network infrastructure, from the creation of di�erent connection pro�les to the management of users. A particular emphasis has been given to the management of the Quality of Service (QoS) allowing to specify not only the guaranteed minimum nomi-nal bit rate or the maximum supported, but also the services (VoIP, FTP, Mail, P2P, ...) to be enabled. The functionalities of the platform start from the de�nition of di�erent connection pro�les that the WISP wants to create, each with a set of di�e-rent parameters and di�erent market value, going to the management of all customers, each with his/her connection pro�le subscribed. The platform o�ers a reporting form on the connection status of all users, stores tra�c statistics (facilitating the ful�llment of legal obligations required for WISPs) and allows a constant and continuous monitoring of the state of the network infrastructure . All features described above are easily accessible from the main Web page o�ered by the platform for the administration and management, according to the authorization credentials. The management software, easy and intuitive, is organized into portals, each with its particular characteristics and speci�c features.

The WiP platform is easily installed within the WISP network infrastructure, be it a complicated architec-ture or a small set of hotpspots. Through WiP it is possible to manage the users access and their naviga-tion pro�les. According to the chosen con�guration, the WIP platform can manage authentications of the follow-ing types:

RADIUS, Captive Portal, PPPoE

Whatever the type of user, �xed or nomadic, WIP is able to manage properly the access and pro�le. In the case of HotSpot access, the system provides for the management of Prepaid Cards (ex. scratch cards) and authentication via SMS

The platform WiP must be located at the server farm that hosts the router used for the connectivity of the whole network infrastructure.

The WiP server has two network interfaces, through which transits all the in/out tra�c of the wireless network.

The platform o�ers, depending on the required con�guration, connectivity to ‘nomadic’ users through the captive portal functionality, and to ‘residential’ users / businesses through PPPoE connec-tivity, allowing to set all the bandwidth properties to be customized for the user.

With the WiP platform always updated graphical reports can be produced on the network status, with the possibility, using additional modules, to display information about individual network nodes (Via SNMP). All reports are organized to provide a clear view of the network status and give the possibi-lity for the WISP act quickly on any failure and malfunction of the equipment that constitutes the network.

WiP ADSL - guaranteed bandwidthIn the version WiP ADSL, each user will see their secure connection from the tunnel PPP, which ensures data privacy and guarantee of bandwidth, if properly con�-gured.

WiP ADSL has a sophisticated bandwidth management system available to users through the assurance mechanisms for each user easily con�gurable and e�cient.

WiP ADSL allows the creation of user pro�les, where you can choose all bandwidth parameters allowing you to ensure tra�c classes take precedence.In this way you can enable real time services, which is known are not easily guaranteed in wireless networks.

With WiP the status of each individual user can be monitored in real time:

- Connection status

- Historical data on access

- Tra�c produced on a daily, weekly and monthly basis

WiP stores the single users activity reports in respect of the current legal provisions.A summary portal is available displaying all users active at that moment and the statistics of the whole system.

Enabling services such as VoIP, IPTV, VOD, video streaming, video surveillance in a wireless network is not possible without an adequate quality management service (QoS). With WiP enabling these services is very easy through a �ne-grained control of tra�c shaping.

With WiP you can create and customize QoS pro�les at the individual user level. In few easy steps you can create a new tra�c pro�le by selecting: Guaranteed maximum bandwidth upload / download Guaranteed minimum bandwidth upload. You can also de�ne priority classes for individual communi-cation protocols or services (eg VoIP or IPTV). All this without having to restart or recon�gure network devices. So you can de�ne di�erent service priorities for each user.

WiP QoS provides a two-level dynamics to avoid waste of bandwidth: System level: - load balancing among active users User level: - prioritization of individual tra�c �ows according to type of service.

The possibility to ensure personalized service leads to high satisfaction among users, as well as to customers willing to pay for a particular type of pro�le. The possibility to e�ectively manage innovative services (VoIP, IPTV and VOD) means attracting new users.

An accurate and comprehensive management of tra�c shaping allows a more e�cient use of the network, and thus the possibility to accept new users by reducing the need for expensive infrastructure investments.

WiP ADSL QoS: module for connections manage-ment requiring prede�ned connections with QoS and guaranteed bandwidth . Provided in solutions for 200, 1000,> 1000 users. Possibility for managing up to 5 pro�les, which can hold maximum bandwidth and guaranteed minimum download and upload.

Besides the CORE functionality, it includes: - Management and accounting of enabled users to the service - User authentication technology using PPPoE - QoS management by balancing the load among all active clients and real-time automatic balancing of available free bandwidth, in proportion to the mini-mum guaranteed bandwidth to each user.
