Tomorrow is the final day of Manu's second internship at One Laptop per Child (OLPC). I wanted to let you know that once again it was a pleasure it has been to have Manu as part of the team. Again, he has been studious and imaginative, respectful and thought-provoking, productive and creative-in short, everything I learned to expect from him since first working with him this summer. Manu's principle task for the month was to project to help software developers upload bundles software for OLPC webserver as part of the, software management process. He has based his work on Ramora, a tool used by Mozilla Foundation to manage community contributions. Manu also spent some time fine-tuning xBook, the eBook reader that he worked on last summer. It is an integral part of the software distribution for the laptop-quite an achievement. Manu has begun a new project in the last week of his stay: creating a collection of educational games for the laptop. Some of these are ones he will "simply" port to the laptop user interface environment. One, Deducto, is going to be more challenging, in that Manu will attempt to not just port the game, but also recraft it in such a way that children can extend it. Manu has continued his efforts to reach out to the broader community to solicit ideas, feedback, and help in regard to encouraging others to add to our efforts to bring computing to children learning throughout the world. He has encouraged the authors of a number of open- source projects to port their projects to the laptop, with remarkable results: two important projects for children, Dr. Geo and MTPaint, are bring ported to the laptop thanks to Manu's efforts and enthusiasm. Manu will continue work on the game project when he returns to India. We have already discussed his returning next summer! Dear Dr. Bhatia

For a second time, I am writing in regard to Manusheel Gupta. Tomorrow is the final day ofManu's second internship at One Laptop per Child (OLPC). I wanted to let you know that onceagain it was a pleasure it has been to have Manu as part of the team. Again, he has beenstudious and imaginative, respectful and thought-provoking, productive and creative-in short, everything I learned to expect from him since first working with him this summer.

Manu's principle task for the month was to project to help software developers upload bundlessoftware for OLPC webserver as part of the, software management process. He has based hiswork on Ramora, a tool used by Mozilla Foundation to manage community contributions.Manu also spent some time fine-tuning xBook, the eBook reader that he worked on lastsummer. It is an integral part of the software distribution for the laptop-quite an achievement.

Manu has begun a new project in the last week of his stay: creating a collection of educationalgames for the laptop. Some of these are ones he will "simply" port to the laptop user interfaceenvironment. One, Deducto, is going to be more challenging, in that Manu will attempt to notjust port the game, but also recraft it in such a way that children can extend it.

Manu has continued his efforts to reach out to the broader community to solicit ideas, feedback, and help in regard to encouraging others to add to our efforts to bring computing tochildren learning throughout the world. He has encouraged the authors of a number of open-source projects to port their projects to the laptop, with remarkable results: two importantprojects for children, Dr. Geo and MTPaint, are bring ported to the laptop thanks to Manu'sefforts and enthusiasm.

Manu will continue work on the game project when he returns to India. We have alreadydiscussed his returning next summer!
