Introduction Servus! Hello!
Welcome to the Hallstein Ski Resort in Winter Resort Simulator
Season 2! A 6 km² game world, spanning mountains and valley, is
just waiting to be explored! There’s so much for you to do here in
Hallstein: groo- ming the slopes, operating ropeways, and managing
the daily routine at your own resort. New vehicles, ropeways, and
improved graphics allow you to immerse yourself in the world of
Winter Resort Simulator.
By default, the game starts with a tutorial that explains the basic
fea- tures and processes of the game. During the course of the game
you will encounter several tutorials designed to familiarize you
with your surroundings, the vehicles, and the ropeways. You will
find an overview of the controls at the end of this manual.
You don’t have to take care of the resort all by yourself: grab
some friends and join forces in multiplayer mode! So, what are you
waiting for?
We’re delighted that you’re playing Winter Resort Simulator Season
2 and hope you have lots of fun in the snow-covered world of
Hallstein!
Winter Resort Simulator Season 2
Aerosoft GmbH 2020 10 11
Features We’re now going to introduce you to the countless features
of Winter Resort Simulator Season 2. We’ll be taking a look at the
different options Hallstein has to offer for managing your ski
resort. This not only includes different types of lifts, of course,
but also vehicles for various purposes. The game will also keep you
on your toes with a variety of missions. As we all know, a ski
resort (almost) never sleeps!
Snow Groomers
In Winter Resort Simulator Season 2, you have the possibility to
whip your slopes into shape. There are snow groomers from two
different manufactures available; PistenBully and Prinoth are on
hand with various models to help you groom the slopes. There are
five snow groomers available in the game: three PistenBully models
(100, 600, and 600 W), and two Prinoth models (Leitwolf and
Leitwolf W). These vehicles are used to prepare the slopes for your
skiers. Each vehicle has a blade and a tiller to clear snow and
level out bumps. You can purchase snow groomers from the shop in
the main menu. After purchasing them, they’ll appear in the shop’s
parking lot where they can be collected. So, lower your blade and
tiller, and hit the slopes!
Ropeways Of course, your guests don’t have to climb the steep
mountainside on foot to be able to take their turns on the freshly
groomed snow. Across its two maps, Winter Resort Simulator provides
you with a total of 13 ropeways to get your visitors to the top of
the mountain. You’ll find a variety of ropeway types on the map
that you can put into operation depending on your needs and wishes.
In editor mode, you can even plan and build your very own
ropeway!
Each ropeway works and is operated just like its real-life
counterpart. That might sound overwhelming at first, but don’t
worry. For each of your ropeways you will find a tutorial, either
in the overview menu, or directly in the command room on the
control touch screen (the ‘HMI’ can be seen in the picture below),
located on the ropeway documen- tation page. This will guide you
through its controls step by step. Last, but not least, in the
workshop you will find further ropeway types and other exciting
items that will make playing the game even more fun!
Winter Resort Simulator Season 2
Aerosoft GmbH 2020 12 13
Transport Vehicles Also indispensable are the vehicles that can
transport you, your friends, and even goods. Winter Resort
Simulator Season 2 has a number of different vehicles for this
purpose, which you can use according to your needs. Road-going
vehicles, such as the Marmotta Hazard and Venture, will get you
quickly from A to B by road. However, if you need to take a
shortcut across the snowy terrain, the Marmotta Vattenmask and
Marmotta Tiger will show you the kind of power they possess. They
allow you to transport people and goods across impassable terrain,
so they are essential companions in everyday life at a ski resort.
Don’t forget: you’re free to change the color of your vehicles so
that they match the overall design of your ski resort.
Snow Guns If the weather’s not playing along, your snow guns are
always on hand to spread snow on the slopes! The TechnoAlpin TR-10
produces fresh, powder snow, ensuring that the day’s skiing goes
smoothly. Use the blade of a snow groomer to position it correctly
and let the snow fall on your slopes. The TechnoAlpin TR-10 can be
purchased from the shop in the main menu.
Missions Of course, everyday life on a ski resort brings with it a
range of challenges. The new missions will demand a lot of you,
including getting deliveries from A to B on time to earn additional
income. The game will constantly offer you missions via an
on-screen message, which will include useful information about the
task at hand, which vehicle you require, and what needs to be
transported. Of course, you can reject any mission—but remember
that there’s a reward for every task you complete. If you would
like to receive more or fewer mission offers, you can adjust the
frequency in the gameplay settings in the main menu ([ESC]
key).

A Look at the Economic System In the career mode of Winter Resort
Simulator Season 2, your objective is to gradually expand the small
ski resort of Hallstein. To achieve this, all ropeways should be
operational and the satisfaction of your guests ensured. To expand
your resort, you can rent or buy new facilities, slopes, and
ropeways. It’s important to keep an eye on the wait times for your
facilities. The weather is also a major influence on the success of
your ski resort. Always pay attention to the forecasts and react
appropriately to different weather conditions. The better you
coordinate everything, the more famous your resort will become! You
will find more detailed information about the economic system later
in this manual.
Editor Mode and Modding Winter Resort Simulator Season 2 contains a
free editor mode where you can give your creativity free rein.
Design a ski resort completely according to your own wishes, edit
the terrain, shape the slopes, and plan the course of your lifts.
Move all objects freely on the map and design a new world. With the
modding interface it is even possible to share your creations with
the entire Winter Resort Simulator commu- nity. Similarly, you can
also download maps designed by other players from the Steam
Workshop and try them out yourself. Using this interface, you can
also add new content to your game, such as ropeways, vehicles, and
many other things. If the interest and creativity grab you, you can
even build objects for Winter Resort Simulator Season 2 yourself
and make them available to the entire community!
Multiplayer In Season 2 of Winter Resort Simulator, it is now
possible to play together with your friends. All you have to do is
host a game of your own, which your friends can then join, or you
can join an existing game and grab the nearest available snow
groomer! If you wish to join a game, choose “Multiplayer” from the
main menu and then select “Join game”.
Shop Parking Lot
If you reset a vehicle or purchase a new one, it will be placed in
the parking lot in the center of the map, below the Sonnenhütte.
You can purchase new vehicles via the “Shop” option in the main
menu ([ESC] key), provided you have enough money available.
Free Camera Mode In the mode selection menu ([Backspace], see image
below), you can choose between three different movement modes. In
addition to first-person mode, which is activated by default, you
also have the option of a free camera mode. To switch to it, click
the camera icon.
Winter Resort Simulator Season 2
Aerosoft GmbH 2020 16 17
You can adjust the movement speed of the free camera in the
overview menu ([ESC] key). To end free camera mode, click on the
game character icon in the mode selection menu.
Skiing Saving the best for last: you can leave your own tracks in
the snow! In skiing mode, you can take a turn on the freshly
groomed slopes or off-piste. In many instances, skiing is the
fastest and most practical way of moving around in the game.
You can activate skiing mode by clicking on the skier icon in the
mode selection menu ([Backspace]).
It is recommended that you do not start skiing mode until you are
already on a slope or in open terrain with only a slight incline.
You can then push off briefly with [Q] and [E], but you won’t have
to push very far.
When you arrive down at the Valley Station of a ropeway, you can
either take off your skis via the mode selection menu ([Backspace])
and walk, or you can take the chairlift back to the start of the
run.
To end skiing mode, press [Backspace] again to enter the mode
selection menu and click on the icon of a person. This will switch
you back to first-person mode.
Overview Menu
The overview menu is an essential part of Winter Resort Simulator.
As the director and manager of your ski resort, you have to stay up
to speed at all times! A lot of information is concisely summarized
for you in the overview menu.
1. Weather: Includes a relatively reliable weather forecast for the
days ahead, and predicts weather conditions and
precipitation.
2. Ropeways: Here you will find a summary with utilization, wait
times, and guest numbers of your ropeways. Additionally, you can
also manage your ropeway and, for example, have it automatically
fed or garaged.
3. Facilities: Shows how well-utilized each facility is. It is your
job to ensure that there’s always enough facilities open to keep
wait times low.
4. Slopes: Shows how heavily used each slope is and which slopes
you should groom. If you click on a slope, the costs of having an
employee automatically groom the slope will be displayed.
Winter Resort Simulator Season 2
Aerosoft GmbH 2020 18 19
5. Investments: You will see all the ropeways, facilities, and
slopes available to you in the resort on a single list. You can
rent, purchase or, if necessary, sell them again at any time.
6. Snowmaking: Displays all snowmakers available to you and allows
you to control them remotely.
7. Messages: You are regularly informed about successes or problems
at the resort.
8. Guests: This menu shows you the fruits of your labor: how
satisfied your guests are. You will also see which factors
influence this and what you can improve. You can change your prices
here, too.
9. Loans: You start your business debt-free, but with little
remaining capital. Therefore, it could prove useful to obtain
additional funds by taking out loans. How successful your resort is
increases or decreases your credit limit.
10. Financials: Here you’ll see where your income is coming from
and what you are spending money on. Additionally, the balance sheet
will show you a breakdown of your assets and your level of
debt.
11. Vehicles: Shows you a map-based overview of all the vehicles
you own. If a vehicle has gotten stuck, this is where you can
select and reset it. In addition, you can sell old vehicles and
recover part of the purchase price, depending on its age.
12. Shop: This is where you can expand your fleet with new
vehicles. You will find all the vehicles available to you in Winter
Resort Simulator listed in different categories.
Ropeways
There are eight detailed ropeways with numerous technical details
for you to operate in Winter Resort Simulator Season 2. In the
game, it’s your task to work your way up and gradually expand the
resort to its full size.
All the ropeways in the game have been modeled true to the
originals, thanks to the kind support of the Doppelmayr/Garaventa
Group.

Season 1 Ropeways
Dorfbahn In Season 1 in Hallstein at the start of the game you own
the Dorfbahn. This is the feeder line for the resort, connecting
the village of Hallstein with the actual ski resort. If your guests
want to start their day skiing in the morning, they all have to
take the Dorfbahn first.
The Dorfbahn only appears on the map of Hallstein from Season
1.

the particularly wide slopes makes it possible to accommodate many
additional guests with just a single lift and effectively reduces
wait times.

Stubhornbahn The Stubhornbahn is by far the most relaxed run that
is aimed at professionals. With black and red slopes, it is
especially appealing for demanding skiers. There is often no wait
time on the longest chairlift in the resort, making the
Stubhornbahn ideal for repeat runs. As the only lift in the area,
the system is fed backwards in the morning, which makes for some
interesting scenes and views in the game.

Salisjochbahn This ropeway is a Funitel. In contrast to
conventional gondola lifts, a Funitel has two haul ropes per side,
arranged at a distance of 3.2 m from each other. Thanks to the
large track gauge, this installation has particularly high wind
stability and is ideally suited as a feeder line and main lift for
the ski resort.

Hexenkesselbahn The Hexenkesselbahn is a modern 10-person
Doppelmayr D-Line gondola lift. Like the Salisjochbahn, it is
initially equipped with a different ropeway control system, making
operation particularly challenging. The installation opens up some
red and black slopes in the resort, making it an attractive
proposition especially for professio- nal skiers.

Höllwiesenlift In addition to the many detachable ropeways, there
is also a fixed- grip, four-seater chairlift in Winter Resort
Simulator Season 2: the Höllwiesenlift. It unlocks a short yet
beautiful slope perfect for re-runs, and connects the area around
the Hexenkesselbahn with the rest of the Hallstein Ski
Resort.
Due to its very central location and the low purchase price, this
lift is an ideal first expansion for your ski resort.

Economic System Your objective is to gradually expand the small ski
resort of Hallstein, opening up all ropeways, and ensuring that
your guests are satisfied. Various factors play a role in your
success, which will be explained in this chapter.
Guests Your guests are always the focus of your activities. You
primary objective is to make sure your guests are always safe and
satisfied. Just as in real life, a variety of different factors
influence this satisfac- tion. Namely, the open facilities and
slopes, the quality of the slopes, wait times in the resort, and
prices.
Ropeways, Facilities, and Slopes A ski resort is only complete once
it has ropeways, facilities, and ski slopes. Make sure that you
always offer your guests at least one ropeway, one facility, and
one slope which are open.
Weather Everyone knows the glorious, sunny weather that every skier
wishes for on their winter holiday, but in real life there are many
different weather scenarios. Each brings with it its own unique
challenges.
Prominence One especially important factor determining your success
in the game is how well-known your resort is. Your guests will only
recommend your resort if they are satisfied (over 80%
satisfaction). Therefore, you should always ensure that
satisfaction levels are above 80%!
Winter Resort Simulator Season 2
Aerosoft GmbH 2020 40 41
Finding the Right Price Probably the easiest way of influencing
your guests’ satisfaction levels is the price. Even if there are
long lines for every ropeway and facility, who cares as long as the
price is right?
At the same time, the price is the decisive criterium for the
economic success of your ski resort. After all, you have to cover
your day-to-day running costs to keep your resort open.
Balance Sheet, Profit, and Loss Account
The economic system in Winter Resort Simulator works very similar
to real life. Alongside your current account balance, there are
some other figures and information that you, the manager of the
resort, will find interesting and informative.
1. The profit and loss account shows you where your income is
coming from and how costs are distributed among the resort’s
various offerings.
2. The balance sheet consists of two columns that show you a range
of information:
a. On the assets side, you’ll see all the installations, vehicles,
and objects that currently belong to you (i.e. your total
assets).
b. On the liabilities side, you’ll see where your money is coming
from. At the start of the game, you have zero debt. However, if you
take out a loan, this will be shown in the “Liabilities (debts)”
section.
3. The different figures are the basis for the economic rating of
your resort and help you to compare different situations in the
game.
4. There are some connections between these elements. It is
important for you to know that the result of the profit and loss
account also includes the depreciation of your ropeways and
vehicles.
Loans You have the option to speed up your growth by taking out a
loan. You will then receive a certain amount of cash that you will
have to repay with interest within a specified timeframe.
If your ski resort is economically successful (i.e. if you are
turning a profit), your credit limit will quickly increase. On the
other hand, your credit limit will be drastically reduced if you
are unable to demonstrate profits
Liquidity Be careful! You always need a certain amount of cash to
cover your running costs. If your account is empty, you will no
longer be able to pay these running costs.

A Comparison: Renting and Buying If you want to expand your resort,
you have various options: You can either rent ropeways, slope, and
facilities, or buy them outright.
If you choose the rent you will pay a fixed daily amount, whereas
if you opt to buy you will have to transfer the full amount at
once.
Therefore, it is cheaper to purchase in the long term, while
renting is the better option in the short term. Ultimately, it is
your decision how you want to invest.
10 Tips for Success 1. The price is key! Always make sure that the
price for what you
have to offer is right so that your guests are satisfied.
2. Play missions regularly! Get to know the resort’s supply routes
and deliver goods on time, and you’ll be able to earn additional
money.
3. Take out loans! These provide valuable financial start-up aid
and can help you to grow quickly.
4. Make a profit every day! This way you’ll quickly be able to
afford new investments or bigger loans.
5. Rethink your offering each and every day! Only open the
facilities and slopes that you need for the current weather
conditions so that there are no wait times.
6. Spread your work over several days! At the start especially, you
don’t have to groom your slopes every day.
7. Groom the slopes as early as possible after closing time!
8. Keep an eye on the weather! If it snows overnight, the hard
slopes will be covered in a blanket of snow and bumps quickly form
after just a few ski tracks, wearing the slopes out quickly.
9. Always set enough money aside!
10. Last but not least: do whatever makes you happy!
We hope you have lots of fun playing!
