Intro to Windsurfing

While many be-ginner windsurf-ers start out at Ft Monroe because it is an enclosed area there are many places on the north side such as Buckroe Beach, Fac-tory Point and on the southside, Willoughby Bay, Ocean View, East Beach, Chick's Beach, etc. The variety of launch areas al-lows beginners to graduate to more challeng-ing conditions as their skills develop. Exten-sive information on launch sites is at www.sailwet.com/Nsail.htm. WET is actively involved in maintaining access to these areas for windsurfers and the public.

WET sponsors two Intros to Windsurfing at Ft Monroe 23rd June and 30th June, 2017. After brief on-land in-structions participants spend the afternoon on the water in small groups with an experienced instructor learning the basics of windsurfing. To hone their skills participants can get more practice time on Sat or Sundays at Ft Monroe with help from WET members who loan their equipment and time. For info email [email protected].
