NOTES TO PARENTS

Welcome to Castle Crawley! This summer the Winchester Discovery Centre is being transformed into

Castle Crawley, home of the heroic Sir Crawley of Winchester. Sir Crawley

will be our host for the Summer Reading Challenge in 2014 and will be helping kids

aged 4–11 through the Mythical Maze as they complete their challenge. Children

can join Sir Crawley on his adventures by completing the six book challenge

earning stickers, rewards, and free tickets to special events along the way.

The Reading Challenge is suitable for all abilities and totally free; children

borrow and read any six books over the summer and collect stickers to mark

their progress. To help them along their way every child who starts the Challenge

can earn a Golden Ticket to one of our exclusive Summer Reading Challenge

Events (subject to availability). We’ve also got a whole summer of fun workshops,

storytelling sessions, film screenings and lots, lots more planned.

mess as they can and create a truly unique

piece of artwork. The finished product will be

hung in our wall space gallery for 3 weeks to

show off our creation. Come and muck in.

Little Funky Art ClubFor small children, being creative means making a mess. No inhibitions; no boundaries; no ‘not on the kitchen table’.

They just want to dive in, get sticky

and have fun.

The littlefunkyart club creates an environment

where they can do that in perfect confidence

and where you don’t have to clear up the

mess afterwards! Each session is based on

a theme, including: Hand and feet painting,

Touch and feel, craft tables, easel painting &

expressionism, moulding & glueing, Splashing

in water with bubbles (All materials provided,

as well as hands-on tuition.)

Little Funky Art Club is running sessions at the

Discovery Centre every Wednesday at 10am

and 11am. Sessions last 45 minutes and cost

£5 per child.
