2. Move the forend and action slideassembly forward until it stops, androtate the barrel and magazine assemblyabout one quarter turn counter clockwiseuntil it stops. Remove the barrel, maga-zine, and action slide assembly towardthe front (be sure the action slide assem-bly is forward enough or you will not beable to separate the action from thebarrel and slide forend assemblv).

4. Remove the carrier pin stop screw, located in the top left rear of the carrier, beside the hammer.

1. Push the magazine locking pin to-ward the right, and pull it out until itstops. Using the pin as a lever, rotate themagazine tube about one quarter tumcounter-clockwise until it stops. Pull themagazine tube up toward the front untilit stops.

3. Remove the buttplate, and usea stock tool or a long shankedscrewdriver to back out the stockbolt. Remove the butt stocktoward the rear.

5. Remove the carrier pivot pin toward either side.

6. Remove the small screw on the right

side of the receiver, just forward of thetrigger cross pin.

7. Drift out the trigger cross pin. This will re-lease the trigger and its spring. Use caution as tonot losing them.

8. Cock the hammer, push the carrierrelease button on the right side, andinsert a tool between the bolt andcarrier, through the port in the rightside of the receiver, to nudge thecarrier downward. Remove the car-rier downward and toward the front.

9. Shde (or tap with a non marring hammer) the trigger guardunit out toward the rear.

10. The trigger and its spring areeasily removed from the top of theguard. The pin was removed in Step #7. Not recommended for normaltakedown: There is also a trigger stopscrew at the rear inside of the guardand it is easily backed out. If this isdone, though, it will have to be read-justed during reassembly.

11. Remove the screw on the right side ofthe bolt just below the extractor. This is along screw going though the length of thebolt.

12. Wittr a finger or probe through theejection port, move the front of the slidehook downward and out of its recess on theleft side of the bolt. Remove the hook fromthe bottom of the receiver.

13. StiOe the bolt all the way to rherear of the receiver and remove it.

14. Remove the screw on the left side of the receivernear the top and take off the ejector toward the left. The ejector is "L" shaped. If it does not remove easily, push from the inside the receiver, while gently liftingfrom the outside.

**Both types are shown here. The rightvertical pin will be longer than the left, they are not interchangeable. The sidewalls screws are interchangeable.

1"5. Otder Version Shown: In older versions, theright and left shell stops are held in place byscrews through the side walls of the receiver. Innewer versions, the shell stops are retained byvertical pivot screws in the lower edge of thereceiver on each side(they would be directlybelow the screw shown). Back out the screws, and take off the shell stops inward. Repairs only: The shell stop springs are mounted inslots on the inside of each shell stop, and are easily driven.

16. The carrier release button is retained inside thereceiver by a round wire spring, that is keyed into a tinyhole in the receiver wall. Use a tool of very small diam-eter to push the tip of the spring inward, then use a pairof sharp nosed pliers inside the receiver to move thespring forward, releasing the button for removal. *Note

for replacement.

21. T\e left extractor. which istempered to be its own spring, isretained by a vertical pin which is

17. Not recommemded for normal takedown: The twotiny screws on each side at the front of the receiver retainthe barrel chamber ring. After the screws are removed, thering is taken out toward the front. The larger screw on thefront of the receiver is the extension stop screw, and holdsno part. Do not remove it.

18. Drift out the cross pin at the rear of the bolt towardthe left, and remove the firing pin toward the rear.

19. Remove the screw on the left side at the center of thebolt.

20. Remove the firing pin retractor downward, and takeout its small coil spring from the underside of the bolt.(shown is an older model with the flat spring attached-donot remove unless for

22. The right extractor is removed by inserting a smallscrewdriver between the extractor and its plunger. Depressthe plunger toward the rear, and lift the extractor out of itsrecess. Keep the plunger under control, slowly release thespring tension, and remove theplunger and spring toward thefront.

driven out upward.

23. Restrain the hammer, and press the tail of the sear upward torelease the hammer. Ease the hammer down to its full forwardposition.

24. Remove the sear spring screw on theunderside of the carrier, and take off thespring downward.**Read reassembly tip afStep #36.

26. Remove the action slide lock spring screwto ease the tension off the action slide lock bar.

28. Insert a slim drift in the accesshole in the lower edge of the actionslide track, and push out and removethe slide lock joint pin downward. Asthe pin emerges, it can be grasped andpulled out.

25. Driftout the sear pin, andremove the sear. ** Note place-ment.

27. Remove the slide lock joint pinstop screw.

29. Remove the action slide lock bar.

30. Re-ove the action slide lock spring.

32. Remove the mainspring tension screw.

**Reassembly Must: Be sure the main-spring engages in the hammer stirrup beforereplacing step #24. Pull back on the hammerto keep the tension on the stimrp/springengagement. Shown outside of the canierfor orientation.

33. Drift out the mainspring pin toward the right.

31. Swing the shell guide plate upward, andremove the slide lock release plunger toward therisht.

34. Be sure the shellguide plate is stillswung up out of theway, and drift out thehammer pin towardthe risht.

35. Remove thehammer upward.Repairs Only: Donot remove thestirrup.

36. Nudge the mainspring toward the rear. When it hascleared the front bridge of the carrier, the spring can beremoved upward.

37. Remove for Repairs Only: The shell guide plate is rivetedin place on the carrier. and removal is not recommended in nor-mal takedown. If necessary for repair it can be taken off but anew rivet will likely have to be made.

38. To remove the magazine lock pin, depress the roundwire spring in the slot in its side and pull out the pin.

39. Remove the two opposedscrews at the front of themagazine tube and take outthe end cap and ring towardthe front. Caution: Themagazine spring will bereleased, so control it and easeit out. Remove the spring andfollower toward the front.

40. Remove the screws on each side of the magazineband, and move the band off toward the front. Whenthe band is removed, the screw bushing at the centercan be taken out. The action slide and magazine as-sembly can now be removed toward the front.

4L. Older Version Shown: Remove the 3 screws onthe forend wood. Newer Version: Use a forend wrenchto removethe forendcap nut.On bothversionstake out themagazine

tube toward the front. The action slide cannow be removed from the forend wood to-ward the rear. The action slide spring(buffer spring) on the mag tube need not beremoved.

42. Remove only for Repairs: Barrel tightness in the receiver is adjustable by backing outthe adjusting sleeve lock screw and sliding the lock piece out of the

engagement with theteeth on the edge of thesleeve. Turning thesleeve counter clockwisewill tighten the barrelengagement. Adjust insmall increments. Ifnecessary the screwsleeve and lock piece canbe removed (clockwise).

Adjustment best done by an experienced gunsmith.

Reassembly Tips:

When replacing the magazine lock pin, use pliers to squeeze the tip of its spring inward tomake reinsertion easier.

When replacing the hammer, insert a tool on the underside of the carrier to tip the stirrup intoengagement with the hooks on the mainspring before tightening the spring tension screw.Refer to Steps # 32 and the reassembly tip after Step #36.

When replacing the trigger assembly, it will be necessary to use a slave pin to hold the trig-ger and its spring in place while the guard unit is slid back into the receiver.

When replacing the carrier cross pin, remember that the groove in the pin must be on the leftside, to contact the stop screw. Refer to Step # 5 for orientation.
