Tetmajer is quickly able to demonstrate the cause of the collapse. As a consequence, the institute attracts international acclaim. 1937 The Swiss Testing Institution in St.Gallen merges with Empa. 1962 Empa moves from Zurich to Dubendorf. 1988 A significant change of course occurs, with increased emphasis placed on research. The Empa is renamed Federal Material Testing and Research Institute. History of Empa Ludwig Tetmajer, First Empa Director Slide 6 1994 The staff of the Armaments Services Group joins Empa and establishes the Materials Technology Laboratory. 1996 The staff at Empas St.Gallen site move into their new building. Slide 14 Trust-based working hours At Empa work is carried out on the basis of trust-based working hours.This means that work performance rather than presence is given priority and rewarded. This provides employees with considerable freedom in the organisation of their work. At the same time they must take responsibility for their personal work scheduling and time management. Working-hours regulations, instructions for recording absences, holiday schedules and regulations, etc, can be found on our HR- homepage. Slide 15 These absences must be recorded in the electronic Time System (Bixi). Holidays, unpaid leave, credited and used-up overtime hours Illness, Accidents Parental Leave, Care of Family Members External and Internal Further Education, Military / Y & S Leadership courses Activity in Unions and Staff Associations Public Office In the case of an accident, Human Resources must be contacted immediately. In cases of illness, ones superiors must be immediately informed. From the 4th day of illness a doctors certificate must be submitted to Human Resources. (Time recording (Bixi)) Slide 16 Accident Insurance SUVA Insurance against Occupational and Non-occupational Accidents (UVG) For occupational and non-occupational risk of accident, you are insured with Suva. In the case of a hospital stay, the costs for the stay in a general ward are covered. AXA Winterthur Supplement to Accident Insurance UVG (voluntary) The costs of a hospital stay in a private ward can additionally be insured with AXA. Empa offers its employees collective supplementary insurance for this purpose. In addition, insurance for lump-sum death and disability benefits can also be taken out. HR-Documents Slide 17 Changes to personnel data Changes to: Address, civil status, bank account information, child(ren), and residence permit data must be immediately reported to Human Resources. In doing so you can be certain that salary statements, payments, etc. will be carried out correctly.
