Thanks to this you will be more up to date with all the latest news from the industry and automotive market and with the latest Inter Cars offer. New year will also bring some fresh ideas. One of them is the e-issue of the magazine. E-issues are electronic equivalents of traditional printed magazine, but enriched with multimedia contents(videos, ani- mations), with active links (hyperlinks) to parti- cular web pages. The year 2012 will bring us some changes in

issues. From now on we will meet more often

printing WIadomości Inter Cars. Thanks to this

you will be more up to date with all the latest

news from the industry and automotive market

and with the latest Inter Cars off er. New year will

also bring some fresh ideas. One of them is the

e-issue of the magazine. E-issues are electronic

equivalents of traditional printed magazine, but

enriched with multimedia contents(videos, ani-

mations), with active links (hyperlinks) to parti-

cular web pages. Such innovation is off ered to

cooperating regarding practical trainings. Sport

fans will fi nd something for themselves as well,

e.g. reports from spectacular sporting events or

exclusive rewards, such as softshell jackets, MP5

players and the most modern tablets and coff ee

machines. Two contests are also very interesting

for motorization fans, “Hawk eye” and “Take it

easy” are concerning the history of Polish auto-

motive industry.

Dear All!

The beginning of the year always brings lots of

new hopes and dreams, but also lots of fears. The

fi rst are usually concerning some kind of impro-

vement of our life, health or personal or econo-

mical situation. Very often they fi ll us with new

energy to take some actions and give us new

perspective. But sometimes they also take away

reasonable judgement of reality. Fears on one

hand scare us with threats that we can meet on

our way, taking away the will and power to take

up challenges. But on the other hand they help

us not to be too optimistic and to rationalize our

current undertakings. So each situation, in which

we can be, can be a good chance to develop and

grow, or totally opposite – to stop and become

passive.

The same rules apply to our industrial environ-

ment, which is the independent automotive in-

dustry of spare parts and services. On one hand

we are experiencing the crisis, which is expressed

by a decreased number of vehicles on the ro-

ads. Because of constantly growing fuel prices,

quotation from ING Bank Śląski webpage, 58%

of drivers going by private cars stated that within

the last 12 months they limited the number of

kilometres covered in their cars. Every twentieth

(5%) moved to public transport.

On the other hand Gazeta Prawna Daily Paper on

their webpage gives information about still gro-

wing number of new cars’ owners, who decide

to perform periodic checks of their cars not in OE

garages, but in independent ones. According to

Alfred Franke, the President of Automotive Spa-

re Parts Distributors Association, 20-30% of new

cars owners can now be using the independent

garages to perform periodic checks. And 4-5

years ago the number of drivers servicing their

cars within guarantee period in independent ga-

rages was almost equal zero. The reason for new

cars owners for passing from OE garages to inde-

pendent garages is not only advantage of lower

prices, according to Tadeusz Kuncy, GIPA Poland

Director, but also bad coverage of OE servicing

chain. We mean here mostly makes which mar-

ket share in registered cars is less than 3 % in our

country. They are e.g. Volvo, Mitsubishi and even

Citroen or Peugeot. It is a well known fact that

the barrier for the driver, which drives the driver

away from visiting OE garage is the distance lon-

ger than 50 kilometres.

Facing those two extreme information, we need

to ask ourselves a questions, how to get advan-

tage from such a situation on the market, no

matter if we have a negative or positive point of

view on it?

distributors for passenger cars and trucks in

the opportunities which are off ered by not easy

industrial environment.

Besides all actions directly connected with in-

dependent automotive spare parts and services

market, Inter Cars S.A. also supports initiatives

for all companies from our industry, taken by

Automotive Spare Parts Distributors and Manu-

facturers Association SDCM. As an example of

effi ciency of actions taken by SDCM I would like

to quote information given above from Gazeta

Prawna Daily Paper. We can see clearly that all

the years of educating the drivers were not in

vain. It is only a pity that not all distributors and

manufacturers want to support solutions which

are favourable for all participants of automotive

market.

That is why I strongly recommend regular visits

to SDCM website at www.sdcm.pl, where you

will be able to fi nd current list of companies,

which care for development and well being of

garages in Poland.

The idea of these meetings is to honour the

best Customers of Inter Cars S.A., presenting

the most modern solutions off ered by the in-

dustry and also delivering positive emotions

and experiences. But the most important and

priceless seems to be common bonding event

and possibility of meeting together with pro-

fessionals from the industry.

Not without a reason Garage Masters’ Gala is

called “GALA”. All the best Customers of Inter

The most recent years is a fast development

of automotive technology. ABS and ESP sys-

tems, more and more modern injection con-

trol systems for Diesel and petrol engines,

Park Assist systems, Adaptive Cruise Control

systems, blind spot monitoring systems, sta-

bility control systems in curves, lane control

systems, driver’s concentration control system,

low speed anti-collision systems, road signs

Modern cars manufactured nowa-days are composed of about 15-20 thousand parts. Toyota even gives the number 30 thousand, which includes all, even the smal-lest parts such as screws!Most of those elements are not changed in

the period of running the car. The rest are

easily available from independent aftermarket,

that is without the logo of a car manufacturer.

Thanks to such parts the cost of running the

car can be much lower.

Car manufacturers order their parts with their

own logo, no matter who produces them. Si-

milar (but not always the same) parts are also

off ered in OE garages – also with car manu-

facturer’s logo. This is how they create the im-

pression that all those parts are produced in

factories belonging to those Companies.

But most of the parts, e.g. electronic elements,

lighting, engine parts, suspension, brakes,

drive transmission systems, are manufactu-

red by independent companies – specialized

manufacturers, having their own research and

testing centres and experienced constructors

and designers. They are companies such as,

Bosch, Brembo, Magneti Marelli, Delphi, Valeo,

TRW Automotive and hundreds of other com-

panies in Poland, and thousands of them in

Europe.

„Those companies deliver a part of their produc-

tion to car manufacturers for the fi rs assembly,

and a part of it they off er to independent after-

market via the chain of wholesalers, shops and

automotive garages. They are the same ele-

ments, with only diff erent packaging, logo and of

course price” – explains Alfred Franke, the Pre-

sident of Automotive Spare Parts Distributors

and Manufacturers Association.

Independent manufacturers have a very wide

off er of parts for many makes and models of

cars, e.g. Brembo has about 1,600 references

of brake disks and drums, and TRW has over

1,400 diff erent kinds of brake pads, what co-

vers 98% of European fl eet of cars. Of course

not all those parts are manufactured only and

exclusively for car manufacturers and their ne-

eds. They are delivered to the market called

parts with comparable quality. Their quality is

confi rmed by their manufacturer or bay the di-

stributor, and they bare legal responsibility, so

the quality must be equal the parts which are

used for the fi rst assembly by car manufactu-

rers. But their price is very often much lower.

The legal side of this spare parts is regulated

80% of parts used for assembling the cars in

factories are developed and manu-factured by independent parts

manufacturers.

Arising from guarantee, free of charge repair in

case of a malfunction, can be performed only

in authorized OE garage, but periodic check

and maintenance services connected with

changing running parts can be performed in

an independent garage, using original parts

(no matter if they are in car manufacturer’s

packaging or the packaging of their real ma-

nufacturer) or using parts with comparable

quality. In case of cars, which are no longer

under guarantee, we have a completely free

choice.

In European Union there are over 90 Directives

regarding homologation and certifi cation of

automotive spare parts. This means that parts,

which are sold in independent garage, can gu-

arantee the Customers the right level of safety

and also environmental protection.

In this column we will be publi-shing legal advices regarding automotive industry and garage services. Below example descri-bes the situation of Mr Hare and Mr Wolf, representing indepen-dent and OE garage, who met in the court of law in order to settle a dispute, which is so much up--to-date at the moment.Engineer Hare entered law court building

very unwillingly. He did not like the whole

administration of justice, layers, their self-ri-

ghteousness and hardihood. But he had no

choice – he was sued. Mr Wolf – his former

business partner, today owner of OE garage

in the capital city of a voivodeship, was alre-

ady in the court. “XZX’ Chambers talked him

into a case, a spectacular case – as they said.

„We will get that Hare, others will stop distur-

bing you and of course our brand!” – in this

place they turned to the representative of a

well known brand. „The independent should

be repairing bicycles” – giggled in their silky

suits the layers of Mr Wolf.

The Court asked who was the author of the

slogan „We repair LEPO and VW”, Mr Hare

relied according to the truth – „My grandfa-

ther created this slogan in the 30s”.

„Do you know the procedure XYZ necessary for

the right opening of the door of repaired cars

made by KARLAR?” - asked one of the silky

layers.

„I have passed matriculation, I also have an

engineer diploma, and thirty years of expe-

rience, full equipment of the garage, I know

this procedure, but I try to open the door using

a door handle” – replied Mr Hare with a little

irritation.

Leaving the court of law, Mr Hare wanted to

say goodbye to Mr Wolf, send his greetings

to his wife. But he did not manage. In his

ears he could still hear judge’s words – „The

defendant had the full right to hang his ad-

vertisements in the form he had done it, and

to distribute leafl ets showing the logos and

using brand names of well known automo-

tive companies – because the advertisement

described, precisely and truly, in compliance

with the law, his business activities, which was

repairing the cars of those well known makes

– in a professional way”.

ShowCar 2012Invest in yourself and your employees – is a slogan which is a motto of the innovative Inter Cars S.A. project – ShowCar. In cities of Poland there will be free of charge technical trainings.

„A very good idea, each year we can notice still gro-

wing interest and bigger number of participants

of trainings within ShowCar project. The car itself

presents very well and causes big interest of people

passing by the branch, which is also an additional

promotion for each branch (getting more retail

customers). Trainings on the trailer are something

absolutely diff erent that classical trainings inside

a room, not each room is air-conditioned, but the

trailer always off ers ideal temperature for trainings,

which is even more important in the summer.

ans that each customer will be able to fi nd some

interesting topic for him.”

ShowCar project met a very big interest not

ShowCar 2012in garages. Our Training Department prepares ca-

refully all the materials for trainings, which always

meet market and garage needs and expectations.

Mobile meetings with mechanics is a very attracti-

ve way of encouraging people to take part in tra-

inings. It is an automotive industry, so the idea of

meeting on board of a trailer is a 100% good idea.

It is for sure an attraction for the participants. It

allows fast moving, which means that in a short

time we are able to visit many places and many

customers.”

„The decision about ContiTech participation in

ShowCar project was a typical “bang on”. After the

fi rst training in Legionowo we knew, that is was the

right decision. Inter Cars S.A. creating its ShowCar

project took us to a week long event, during which

each participant takes part in fi ve training days

conducted by leading suppliers. During this time

everyone has a chance to get to know the off er, ga-

rage programmes, can get technical support. For

us the most important is the possibility of contact

with industry professionals and together develo-

ping our common passions. I do believe, that for

many of us work goes together with passion.

ContiTech trainers develop themselves together

with trainings, we are always reacting quickly

and responding all the signals coming from the

market, that is why each participant is always

up-to-date with the most modern news, which

are given to us directly from our headquarters in

Germany. During trainings we are realizing topics

connected with the right parts matching, proper

disassembly and assembly of belts in timing sys-

tems, reasons of belt malfunctions and ways of

preventing them, together with legal aspects con-

nected with spare parts assembly.

Besides information aspect of the trainings, all the

participants are given a ContiTech training partici-

pation certifi cated and additionally they can buy

a Tüvpol Certifi cate (TÜV Thüringen branch).

For ContiTech, participating in ShowCar training

project is now a fi xed element of annual training

schedule.”

Those who decided to take advantage of this

possibility were invited to take part in intere-

sting activity, of course in motor sport atmo-

sphere. Each of invited Customers, C1 owners,

set one driver to take part in a competition. De-

spite a freezing weather and wet surface, C1s

were equipped with standard road tyres, with

no spikes. Participants took the competition

very seriously and professionally, that is why

they started the day with a training of fast and

safe driving. Precious and practical advices and

tips were given by Piotr Wróblewski - owner of

a Rally School. After the theoretical part, par-

ticipants could use the knowledge in practice,

driving the trial rounds. Everybody set behind

the wheels of their cars and tried to go through

the track as fast as possible.

Additional attraction for the participants was

co-drive with Bartek Ostałowski in his Nissan

Skyline R34 and co-drive with Krzystof Olekso-

wicz testing his Subaru Impreza N14. Those of

you who do not know it yet, we want to inform

that Bartek’s extraordinary skills are that he dri-

ves his car in a drift using his feet! At present he

has international FIA racing driver licence.

C1 contestIn previous years Inter Cars S.A. customers were off ered a possibility of renting Citroen C1 as a substitute car for their garages.

„Each year the cars become more and more com-

plicated, and this forces garage owners to invest

in the right devices and tools allowing them to

repair and maintain the cars in a proper way.

Without the right technological equipment, and

also necessary technical knowledge of mechanics,

servicing such modern cars would just be not po-

ssible” – says Radosła Grześkowiak, Marketing and

Advertising Director of Inter Cars S.A.

„In line with technological advancement of cars

and with growth of customers’ wallets, their

expectations regarding a garage are also growing.

Today having the right reception and waiting

room and other facilities which will be noticed

by the Customer is one of the most crucial points.

Modern garage must also have a replacement car

for their Customers. Most drivers leaving their car

even only for one day, expect that the garage will

correctly diagnose the malfunction and repair it,

but also that it will off er them a replacement car

for the time of repair.

In the past mostly OE garages off ered their custo-

mers replacement cars, but nowadays more and

more independent garages also have replacement

cars in their off er. Also expectations regarding the

make and model of a replacement cars have gone

up. Very few customers will be satisfi ed with a

more than 10 year old car from the lowest market

segment. Customer now expects quite new and

reliable car with air-conditioning and other sys-

tems commonly installed in modern cars. Just the

fact of having a replacement car in the off er has a

great infl uence on choosing this particular garage

to perform the necessary repairs, as opposed to the

one which does not off er such an advantage. This

means that the garage gains new loyal customers,

satisfi ed with the service, as a result it becomes

more competitive on the market. In other words a

replacement car for the customer is the same inve-

stment in its development as purchasing modern

devices and tools”- convinces R. Grześkowiak.

In January this year we have launched Regional

Training Centre in cooperation with Practical Tra-

ining Centre in Grudziądz. The grand opening

was visited by vice president of Grudziądz city

– Przemysław Ślusarski, the Chairperson of Edu-

cation Commission in town council in Grudziądz

– Joanna Iwanowsa and PTC Director, together

with Inter Cars S.A. representatives. The meeting

was also participated by BOSCH and CASTROL

representatives – the sponsors of the campaign,

and also ITS representative, who bare the patro-

nage of the programme. Also teachers and em-

ployees of neighbouring garages were present.

During the event in Grudziądz, invited guests co-

uld hear the speech about current situation in Po-

lish vocational schools. They could get to know

all the advantages of participating in Young HR

programme. On behalf of Grudziądz city, vice

president of the city collected tools and devices

which will be used at school for HR education.

Another schools, another HR“Young HR” is a programme created by Inter Cars S.A., which is aimed to cooperate with the schools, by e.g. equipping them with the most modern diagnostic and repair devices for automotive industry. It also delivers the necessary knowledge for educa-ting young HR; it is also a “work trampoline” which helps young people to start their adult lives. The programme supports knowledge contests, and apprentices for the best students.

„Thanks to right educa-tion the chances of get-ting into adult work life for young generation are growing. Besides highly skilled educating team, we also need highly so-phisticated equipment. It is especially important

within the process of vocational schooling, whe-re theoretical knowledge has to be supported with thorough practical trainings. That is why we came here with several representatives of companies supporting “Young HR” programme, to give you the necessary tools and garage equ-ipment, which are really needed during practical trainings. „We realize that vocational education must involve current and dynamic development of automotive market and in-dustry, which are felt in our everyday life” – added Tadeusz Najdora, Headmaster of the school.

The President of Inter Cars S.A. Robert Kierzek received from the Headmaster and the Students a statue. The offi cial part took part in school hall in the presence of teachers and pupils of automotive profi le classes. The event was made more offi cial by the performance of special orchestra conducted by one of school graduates and a show of ballroom dancing. At the end all guests could try great dishes prepared by the employees of the school’s kitchen.

In February this year Inter Cars S.A. have given another part of diagnostic devices worth 120 thousand PLN to Construction Engineering School in Gorzów Wlkp. It is one of fi ve schools in Poland covered with the programme „Young HR”, and supervising is performed by Inter Cars S.A. Szczecin Group. The basic thing is to build in garage owners’ minds an opinion that the basis of proper pro-sperity of a garage is well educated and specia-lized group of garage employees. In the future, garage owners, thanks to their generosity and openness to new ideas and creating new work-places for graduates of the schools covered with “Young HR” programme, will get measura-ble benefi ts. They will be able to concentrate on core activities and the need of training a mechanic fro the very beginning will not create

additional costs and will also save time. School at Okrzei street forms future constructing and building specialists since 1957, and for automo-tive industry since 1st September 1973. Till to-day over 2,000 mechanics and over 1,500 auto-motive technicians have graduated the school. The number of graduates shows the potential and new workplaces in automotive industry.

The last week of February VIP Club Gold members spent on a picturesque, but at the same time very mysterious Fuerte-ventura Island. It is a Spanish island, in the eastern part of Canary Islands, on the Atlantic Ocean. The participants could go to nearby Lanzarote island to see the “cosmic” scenery of Volcanoes’ Way. Whilst in Poland there were minus temperatures, VUP Club Members were sunbathing along volcano seaside of Fuerteventura island and also swam on a luxurious cata-maran.

Next edition of VIP Club will be launched in July 2012. We want to remind you that pe-ople interested in a membership in VIP Club must generate parti-

cular turnover level with Inter Cars S.A. In next issues of IC Wiadomo-sci we will present you detailed turnover levels for purchases.

In July 2011 the promotion “Castrol for EURO 2012” was started, in which you could get Peugeot 107 cars and tickets for matches during EURO 2012.Inter Cars SA Customers were competing in purchasing Castrol products in three catego-ries. Promotion lasted from July till December 2011 and was supported with monthly addi-tional rewards (tickets for matches during Euro 2012).The cars were prepared and marked with In-ter Cars S.A., Motointegrator.pl and Castrol logos and were offi cially handed to their new owners on 27th February this year in Kajetany, in Inter Cars S.A. logistic centre. Car keys were passed by Castrol Representative – Katarzyna Warych. Besides the main prize, there were also six monthly rewards

OPENING OF BRANCH IN WODZISŁAW ŚLĄSKIThe branch started operating in 2004, as the

third branch in Rybnik Group. After several

years, watching dynamic development and

increase of development possibilities, the pre-

mises were made bigger. Customers could

watch decorating works even in July 2011,

because ShowCar event took place there, with

the whole training cycle. In October 2011

construction works of new Inter Cars S.A. bu-

ilding were fi nished at 131c Koszycka Street,

with total fl oor area of 620 m2. Because of this

there was a special event organized for the

could discuss their opinions with representa-
