WHAT IS SHINE? With the support of KERN DANCE ALLIANCE, we welcome SHINE for Girls to the Kern County area. SHINE is a free, 8-week program that combines dance with a tailored math curriculum to create an environment for young girls to explore math in a unique and creative way. SHINE strives to not only improve mathematic skills, but also empower students to chase after their passions with confidence.
WHY SHOULD YOU BECOME A SHINE MENTOR? SHINE is a wonderful opportunity to personally make an impact on 6th-8th grade girls in the Kern County community. SHINE mentors are local high school or college women who have qualified based on their math background, tutoring experience, dance experience, attitude and enthusiasm. As a mentor you have the ability to improve girls' skills, increase their confidence, and change their perspective on STEM fields. Do not worry if you have never danced before! Being a SHINE mentor is all about having fun and being a role model for girls. If you are looking for a meaningful extracurricular activity to add to your college applications or resumé, apply TO SHINE today!
