Our Objectives IDEAS Indonesia aims to achieve the following: Transforming personal leadership capacity to operate from a higher state of awareness (purpose-driven) that enables the person (leaders) to see and cope with the complexities in a system. In other words, expanding from only reacting to creating. Creating collective leadership capacity through multi-sectoral networks that promote collaborative action. Developing replicable and scalable prototypes of Sustainability-oriented Solutions (SOS) to address complex systemic challenges. Our Uniqueness Integrating all levels of intelligence: The open mind (IQ: intellectual knowledge), open heart (EQ: emotional & relational knowledge), and open will (SQ: self knowledge). Learn with world-class faculty and experienced speakers: Dynamic and interactive learning process through intimate dialogue with an array of world-class speakers, from MIT Sloan School of Management professors to society leaders from Indonesia’s three sectors. Why MIT-UID IDEAS Indonesia The world faces urgent and complex challenges of unprecedented magnitude that call for concerted actions. What we believe is needed to address them is new leadership attributes that promote inclusiveness, creative dialogue, entrepreneurism, and systems thinking. These new attributes shift our current economic paradigm from privatizing profit while socializing loss to creating wealth that supports wellbeing for all. MIT-UID IDEAS Indonesia (IDEAS Indonesia) offers a unique learning experience that enables these leadership attributes to be cultivated and brought into concrete actions through real- world, “living laboratory” prototypes. A typical IDEAS Indonesia Journey: IDEAS Indonesia takes the participants through 10 months of experiential learning journey that includes 20-25 days of in-person workshops and independent guided learning spaces. This blended approach allows participants to apply the newly learned insights and practices in their own system and environment.   • Innovative Dynamic Education & Action for Sustainability Leadership Executive Education

    Dr. Peter Senge Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management and the founding chairman of the Society for Organizational Learning (SoL). Through his work that hatched the widely recognized and acclaimed organizational learning concept The Fifth Discipline (1990), The Journal of Business Strategy in September 1999 named him a “Strategist of the Century”, one of twenty-four men and women who have had the greatest impact on the way we conduct business today.

    Dr. C. Otto Scharmer Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management and a co-founder and chair of the Presencing Institute. Dr Scharmer is involved in cross-sector change initiatives in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. He introduced the theoretical framework and practice called “Presencing” in Theory U: Leading from the Future as It Emerges (2007), further explained into applicable practices in his latest book Leading from the Emerging Future: From Ego-System to Eco-System Economies (2013).

    Frans Ade Nugraha Sugiarta Academic Director at UID. He completed the ELIAS Leadership Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management, and is the co-founder and designer of IDEAS Indonesia. Focusing his interest in Learning Organization, Frans is a lecturer, coach and mentor for a wide range of participants, from youths to practicing leaders in many organizations in Indonesia and globally.

    Dr. Ben Chan Senior Faculty Member at UID and lectures on Entrepreneurship and Business Creation at Singapore Management University. Together with Frans, Dr. Chan is the co-designer of IDEAS Indonesia Program. Dr. Chan is also the Executive Director of Singapore’s Young Enterprise Centre, a resource center where young entrepreneurs come for counseling, learning, coaching and consultation on their venture creations and social enterprises.

    Shobi Lawalata, Ph.D. Learning Facilitator and Division Manager at United in Diversity. She completed her Ph.D. in Integrative Biology from University of California, Berkeley, in 2011. Since then she has dedicated herself towards societal transformation through UID’s learning programs. Shobi is a graduate of the fourth cohort of IDEAS Indonesia program, and has worked with various governmental, civil society, and business institutions to facilitate their learning and leadership.
