Animal testing has some benefits

1. Helps researchers to find drugs and treatments, such as cancer and HIV drugs, insulin, antibiotics, vaccines and many more.

2. Improves human health3. Helps ensure safety of drugs and many other

substances humans use or are exposed to regularly4. Alternative methods of testing do not simulate

humans in the same way

But it also has many drawbacks1. Animals are killed and kept in captivity:In animal testing, countless animals are experimented on and then killed after their use. Others are injured and will still live the remainder of their lives in captivity.2. Some substances tested, may never be used for anything usefulso it’s pointless sometimes3. It is very expensive:Animal testing costs an enormous amount of money, as the animals must be fed, housed, cared for and treated with drugs or a similar experimental substance. You also need to add a price for purchaising animals for tests- there are companies who breed animals specifically for testing and animals can be purchased through them.4. Animals and humans are never exactly the same:reaction of a drug in an animal's body is different from the reaction in a human. They say that animal testing is unreliable..

Is it humane to test on animals?

1. It’s unethical to sentence 100 million thinking, feeling animals to life in a laboratory cage and intentionally cause them pain, loneliness, and fear.

2. It’s bad science. The Food and Drug Administration reports that 92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans.

3. It’s wasteful. Animal experiments prolong the suffering of people waiting for effective cures by misleading experimenters and squandering precious money, time, and resources that could have been spent on human-relevant research.

4. It’s archaic. Forward-thinking scientists have developed humane, modern, and effective non-animal research methods, including human-based microdosing, in vitrotechnology, human-patient simulators, and sophisticated computer modeling, that are cheaper, faster, and more accurate than animal tests.

5. The world doesn’t need another eyeliner, hand soap, food ingredient, or pesticide so badly that it should come at the expense of animals’ lives.
