Name of Artifact: Personal Statement Project
Date: March 4th, 2014
Course: EDUC 101
Brief Description: For this assignment, I was to start thinking about my personal philosophy for education. This
project will help my identify my core beliefs at the present time.
Rationale: Over the very new and fresh course of service learning in a classroom, I have learned many things in
regards to the way that classrooms are managed and run, how students view their teachers, and what necessary traits
teachers need to be an effective teacher.
• I love being around children
• I love shaping children’s minds
• Having a background of
working with children and the
“light bulb” moment has
always been something I strive
for.
• I feel that I am passionate
about becoming a teacher.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I want to become a well rounded, respected
teacher that parents trust to have their kids with
during the day.
Someone that they feel they can have an honest
and open relationship with, both my students and
their parents.
I fully believe that students love school as much as
their teacher loves school.
STUDENT CHARACTERISTICS
I would love kids that are
willing to learn.
Kids that are engaged
and involved.
Kids that I can help learn
to love school.
Parents who are involved and
care about their child’s
education.
A community that holds its
school to a higher standard.
A community that respects their
teachers
A safe community for the
families and children that live
there.
COMMUNITY CHARACTERISTICS
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PROFESSION
I plan to dedicate the rest of my professional life to education.
I plan to have an open door policy with my and students and
their parents.
I plan to set high standards for scholastic achievement with
my students, but also plan to be available for extra help for
students that want or need it.
I plan to take our evaluations seriously and to adjust
accordingly.
