WHS TEXAN NEWS
Message from Principal Valentine
What a great week to be a Wimberley Texan! We will celebrate our UIL Academic Teams, Band, Speech and Debate, Robotics, and
One Act Play Company this Friday in our last pep rally of the year! We will be on Texan Activity Schedule and are looking forward to a great day!
I would like to recognize a couple of groups competing for their first events this weekend. Best of luck to our Robotics Team competing in their first event of the semester!
Wimberley High School Lone Star Theater Company has their district competition at 1:00 this Saturday at Canyon Lake High School. The Miracle Worker is a great show and all are invited! Break a Leg!
The STEAM Fair is Saturday! Like last year, the event will be in Bridges Gym and the CTE Building with several great activities for students in elementary through high school. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/Agriculture, and Mathematics...STEAM Fair gives the students of WHS the opportunity to show off some of their work as well as highlight local vendors who advocate for STEAM Education. The event is FREE and open to any and all in the Wimberley Community! I hope to see you there!!
Have a great day,Jason Valentine

The following students received a rating of ‘Excellent’: Vincent Gordin, Luthary Segura, Olivia Linton, Anika Hawes and Shelby Morris. We also had 23 band members qualify for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition with a ‘Superior’ rating. Those students are Andres Bilger, Gabi Bowell, Bella Browning, Grant Cabler, Sierra Campbell, Jo Jo Carrasco, Charles Caton, Tess Everson, Ramsey Frank, Cameron Grey, Macey Guynes, Ryan Heaton, Julia Love, Miles Love, Jorden Lynch, James McLemore, Spencer Morris, Alex Palmer, Simon Ramirez, Quin Webber, Carson Weems, Wyatt Wisdom and Eli Zamora. The state solo and ensemble will be held in June at Henderickson HS. Great job, Band!
Attendance PartyThere will be a 95% attendance lunch party the
Friday after Spring Break, March 22. All students with 95% attendance will be invited to the invitation-only event. Lots of door prizes including amazon gift cards, pop sockets, ice cream floats, music, table top mini gifts, and more. Invitations will be given out March 21 and 22 in second period. Invitation to this event will be a good indication you are the right track to exempt finals. If you are not invited, see nurse Jordan to find out how you can improve your attendance and qualify for exemption.
Sarcomere Created by WHS StudentWill Seaton, a student in Ms. Simecheck’s anatomy
class, created a 3-D model of a sarcomere (contractile unit of muscle fiber) on his computer. He then printed it on the library 3-D printer. This took 8 hours to print and twice as many hours to design. Great job, Will!

Every year, Texas Lonestars provide a Boutique Day for high school girls in the surrounding Austin area. On Boutique Day, prom-goers arrive and are paired with their own personal shopper, a Texas Lonestar, to accompany them to find their prom look - shoes, accessories, and of course, the dress - all completely free of cost to you. Other prom necessities will be raffled off at Boutique Day. All that we offer you wouldn’t be possible without sponsorship from businesses of the Austin area. Our goal is to always have modern, well-kept dresses in all shapes and sizes.
To sign up: 1. Go to utprojectprincess.com 2. Go to the tab at top right of page labeled "Boutique Day" 3. Click "Boutique Day Sign Up" 4. Fill out the google form and click submit once you have finished, and you’re good to go!
Costa Rica June 25 - July 03, 2019 Dear Parents,
I'm excited to announce that I will be leading a group of students on a once-in-a-lifetime educational tour, "Costa Rica." We'll explore famous historic sites, discover the rich heritage and diversity of different cultures and experience the places we've studied in class. Students will grow and mature as individuals and return home with a whole new worldview. I've chosen to travel with Explorica because of their exceptional safety record, their supportive service and their glowing reviews from other teachers in our community who travel with them. Explorica programs offer the perfect mixture of fun and learning, and they provide everything we need. There is a $75 “Travel4Z” discount if you register before 10/20/18. Please read the enclosed materials and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected] or (512) 558-1083. Sincerely, Rebecca Huey, Group Leader Costa Rica explorica.com/Huey-1738 June 25 - July 03, 2019
